My Satellite A300 turns off spontaneously

Hello,
Somtimes my laptop (Toshiba Satellite A300) sunddenly spontaneously turned off. Very often it happend during system startup. Everything it happend when my laptop work only on power supply. When my laptop work only on battery (without power supply) everything is ok.
1) Does it mean that i should change the power supply?
2) I use surge protector but my power socket is without graunded. Is it possible that power socket without graunded broke the power supply?
3) Should i use power socket only with graunded?
I live in Poland if there is any help.
I will be gratefull for answers.

Hi Reda,
from my point of few it’s difficult to say what could cause this annoying issue.
But I think you should check the notebook functionality using another good working AC adaptor.
It’s not impossible that a faulty AC adaptor would cause the problems.
At the other hand the issue might be caused due to power supply electronic issues.
Power supply electronic is part of the motherboard and such issue would be the worst case.
Additionally you can check whether different power plant would be selected after connecting the AC adaptor. In such case switch it to the power plan which is selected using the battery power.

  • Satellite A300 - Turns on but doesn't boot

    Hello,
I have a Satellite A300. I have had several probems while booting since 2 months ago: When I want to turn on my laptop, it turns on but the screen keeps black and it doesn't load the "Toshiba Leading Innovation" screen. The "Satellite" light (at the left of the mousepad) is on (it would only switch on a second while booting and then would switch off) and it doesn't turn off.
I have to retry for so many times with all the possibilities: Without battery, only with AC adapter, with both of them but it doesn't boot. I don't know what can I do. I have always to hibernate my laptop bacause I am afraid to can not boot it the day after.
Could you help me? If it cares: I had to buy a new battery (not Toshiba original) because I had to change the original one. No more changes in my laptop.
Thank you very much and sorry for my english writing :S
    Diego

Thank you for your reply PinkPanther,
I think it isn't fault of the battery, because my laptop doesn't load the Bios neither the "Toshiba Leading Innovation" screen not even tryng to switch on only with the original Toshiba AC adapter.
About the external monitor: it's true many times I connect my TV by the HDMI port. But i think it isn't the problem. As I said first, there's a light (is writen "Satellite") at the left of the mousepad that lights when the laptop turns on and when comes this "Toshiba Leading Innovation" screen, suddenly it switchs off. So when I have this problem with my laptop, this light keeps on. I think that if it was problem off the monitor, this light should turn off and load the OS, and then I must hear the sound at the begining of the OS...
As you say, maybe it's a serious probelm... I posted here because I hoped that anyone had the same problem, resolved it and could help me

  • Satellite A660 turns off unexpectedly during heightened performance situations

    Hi,
I currently own a Toshiba Satellite A660, recently it has been shutting off unexpectedly when I play games.  I've always played these games before which is why it concerns me.  After it shuts down if I try to turn it on immediately the fan goes at full blast and it will turn off again and I must wait a few minutes for it to cool.  It seems like my computer is working too hard to cool the processor or whatever.
I cleaned up my disk space and am at 0% fragmentation so thats as far as my knowledge goes.
    Thank you

  • Satellite P875 turns off immediately and loop after bios update /vrsion 6.30

    Hi
My satellite P875 turns on and immediately turns off since I did an update of the bios (v 6.30).
When the battery is connected and power wire too, it turns on then turns off in a loop.
With the battery, and power wire unplugged, the loop stop and the laptop just turns off.
Nothing on the screen because it turns off immediately.
    If someone has any Ideas...
THis laptop is new( a few weeks) and runs windows 7
    Thank you in advance

    UPDATE:
I tried this: Fn+F+ start, it last a few second more, with the sound of the fan, and then turns off again.

Short story, you bricked your box, and whatever time you spend trying to find someone in the world to tell you different and all the time you spend here answering follow up questions will be odyssey land wasted getting right back to the start of this sentence.
Either this forum or others will ask you for model number details and suggest "flash fixers" that might or not repair your bricked system and always at the expense of your warranty.
The sooner you call tech support and convince them it wasn't your fault the faster you'll get your new toshiba replaced with a refurb. Backup up your important hard drive data cause you're not guranteed to get the same drive back either.

  • Satellite M55 turns off when disconnecting power cable

    Hi,
when disconnecting my laptop from the outlet rather than switching to the battery, my laptop will often simply turn off even though the battery is completely charged. Other times things work as they should.
I did some searching and my problem appears similar to the one detailed here in this post.
Might anyone know the solution for this problem?
    thanks.

    Hello Luc
Like in other topic described, you should contact service and explain them what happen exactly. I am afraid there can be something wrong with power supply electronic. We can here just speculate about it.
Unfortunately I am afraid there is nothing you can do alone.

  • Satellite T130 - Turns off because of low power

My 130 just turns itself off without warning because of low power but it shows between 40 and 50% power remaining bfore it turns off. What is wrong with it?
Also there is no warning about low power, it just turns off. Any ideas?

hi c3po thanks for your reply. Yes i am using the supplied adaptor, i've only had the laptop a few days. no i haven't checked for a bios update, i'll do that. I had the laptop on for nearly 4 hours before it turned off, and it was showing 3 hours or so remaining, it's quite strange, maybe i should ring toshiba?

  • Satellite A30 turned off automatically

My laptop turned off automatically if I work continously nearly one hour and also top of the cooling fan (on the left side) become hot.
First of all i thought it was the problem of the windows XP home edition. Then I restored the windows XP. But Result is the same.
How can I resolve this problem.
    THanks
    Thomas

I've found that the fluff build-up makes the laptop fan spin longer and longer. About once every two months I need to clean it out, otherwise my ears hurt from the noise of then fans!
My method: Remove the CPU cover labelled "Warning - Hot"
Remove the silver/copper tape. Remove dust/fluff from in the small gap that's revealed. If this isn't possible, continue:
Remove the four screws in order from 1 to 4, being careful not to drop them inside.
Remove the copper heatsink by lifting the outer edge. You may need to rotate it to free it.
Remove the dust/fluff from the heatsink
Replace the heatsink compound if it's dry
Replace the heatsink in reverse manner to its removal
Tighten the four screws in order from 1 to 4
    Replace the silver/copper tape
    Replace the cover.

  • IMac turns off spontaneously during start up

Try running Apple Hardware Test on your computer. Also repair the hard drive with disk utility.

  • Satellite C660 turns off after 3 seconds

Got my new laptop yesterday, and while installing windows 7 (not exactly sure how far the install process was) the screen turned a light gray color and started flickering, I tried turning it off by pressing power button for 7 seconds but it wouldnt respond, I had to unplug the charger and take out the battery to turn of the laptop.
Now when I press the power button the power indicator light turns on, cpu fan turns on, and after 3 seconds it shuts down. I've tried turning it on about 100 times now, same result. Taking out the RAM and HD makes no difference.
Waiting for Toshiba support to contact me so I thought I'd try here and see if there was an easy fix.

    Hi
I assume the Toshiba Splash screen does not appear at the beginning and you are not able to access the BIOS too. Right?
It looks like you had a bad luck from my point of view its something wrong with the motherboard.
But dont worry warranty should cover everything so either you could visit your notebook dealer and would ask for replacement (if possible) or you could get in contact with an Toshiba ASP in your country who could fix this.
    Good luck

  • Satellite L505D Turn off Touch Pad While Typing

This laptop is maddenning to post on forums with etc. because when typing I bump the mousepad and or one of the buttons and loose everything that I have typed.  I don't think this is the original install of Windows7 via Toshiba because I cannot find the option to disable this function.  Don't know if there is a way to tell if this is the OEM install, if so please help.  I know there is no Recovery Partition and that was the first tip that someone has tampered with it some-what, and maybe reinstalled from a Windows Official ISO file.  None of my other laptops do this so need to change this setting if possible. Thanks pcpunk

Sorry, I will do this, don't think I am getting email notiifications for this Forum.  Isn't this set by default?

  • Satellite M60/M55: Turns off after disconnecting power

Reposting because the original threads are locked.

My M60 sometimes turns off immediately after unplugging mains power (either the AC mains or DC plug from the laptop), instead of resuming on battery power, although the battery is full.
The battery is OK & the laptop starts up regularly on battery power after pushing the on switch.
The Toshiba Power Saver seems to work OK & I have the latest BIOS.
I always save my work before disconnecting, but I still don't like this behavior & would appreciate some good advice.

Satellite M55 turns off when disconnecting power cable when disconnecting my laptop from the outlet rather than switching to the battery, my laptop will often simply turn off even though the battery is completely charged. Other times things work as they should.
I had the motherboard replaced for another reason and was fairly surprised to notice the problem after replacement (but without OS reinstall).
The main suspect is the TPS and its driver; some months ago a new version was released on Toshiba support site for M60 (though the file dates are not fresh, and I believe I have installed this version earlier).
So, I removed both TPS and TPS driver. I tested many times and it did not happen again. Not even when I reinstalled them.
While testing I turned off HD write caching to avoid file corruption problems (but this slows down HD operation, most notably hibernation).
I'm not sure if this actually works because also earlier the computer would shut down just occasionally, not every time. But this may be a clue in case you have this problem. If you do, please test and report the result, no matter what the outcome is.

What to say dude. The problem is that this issue happens ONLY sometimes and therefore its not easy to locate the real reason for such shutdowns.
However, I would try to provide some useful hints but first of all it would be useful to know how old your battery is.
Fact is that old and stressed batteries lose the own performance very quickly.
My battery is about 3 years old and my notebook would run on the battery for about 10-20 seconds even though its fully charged. The performance is simple very weak!
At the other hand the issue could be related to the faulty power supply electronic on the board
As you see its not easy to say whats exactly wrong and as already suggested in the other threads (locked) you should ask a technician for a notebook check.
The guys could run some diagnostic tests and could locate fault.
    Best regards

My wife's iphone4 turned off spontaneously after she sent a message and it had 95% battery. Nothing we did turned the phone back on. After searching the net and looking at this forum I held the sleep/wake button and the home button together and it turned on... Amazing. Thanks to all those who have posted. Is this a recurrent issue though? Would definitely like to know if this is a handset- and/or OS-specific problem?

  • Phone turns off, power cycles & drains battery

My Curve 8530 has been turning off spontaneously power cycling then the Blackberry download screen comes on.  It will then fully load and when it powers back on the battery will be completely drained.  It will do this in the middle of phone calls, texting and browsing.
Any ideas how to fix this?

I had the same problem using MetroPCS blackberry curve 8530, I messed around with the network settings on my phone for hours until i figured out that it managed to stay on when i unchecked the mobil network, which disables the radio signal on the phone. Then I started shutting off every other wireless conections like gps, data, roaming, ect... Then i turned back on the mobil network and it seems to be a fix but you loose out on the usefullnes of the phone..

  • Satellite A300-247 - Logo of the model always turned off

    Hello
have a problem that I bought the computer Toshiba Satellite A300-247.
The logo Satellite was always on fire Ohcshio off or how do it would be always a crush

    Hi!
To be honest I dont know what you mean exactly. Do you mean the illumination logo on the keyboard?
As far as I know the illumination of the notebook (multimedia keys, etc.) controls the Value Added Package so I think you should reinstall this tool. You can find it on the Toshiba website:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/ => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers
Before you install the newest version you should remove the old version first and then restart the notebook. Now you can install the new VAP.
By the way, did you install some Windows updates? I had a problem with the illumination after I installed some Windows updates.
    Bye

  • Mute or LED On/Off button issue on Satellite A300-15C

    Hi
I have a simmilar problem. I have Toshiba Satellite A300-15C notebook.
Until recently the multimedia keys worked fine. I have assigned some exe file to the second to left key, and been happily using the lights on/off button to switch the dimmer.exe, but a few days ago the dimmer key stopped turning the lights and instead acts as a mute/unmute key. I have doublechecked the TBS and the key is still associated to the dimmer.exe . I have even tried associating the key to another function, but it still just mutes/unmutes the sound. Have you got any idea as to what might be causing this problem and how can I fix it?
And no, apart from random Vista updates I haven't installed anything new since before the dimmer key started acting wierd...

    Hi,
I've done everything following the steps from Raver's post and now I have a new problem:
The Toshiba Button Support doesn't display any buttons.
    http://img363.imageshack.us/img363/3052/19004197nq4.jpg
It should look like that, but instead it has neither the Mute, nor the CD/DVD button, it's empty... I have tried following the advice from the last post from this topic:
    http://forums.computers.toshiba-euro...ssageID=135421
But the TBS just assigns the Dimmer.exe to no button, since no button is selected. Have you got any idea what should I do next? (and yes, I'm sure I have installed the VAP for Windows Vista 32 bit for Sattelite A300)
