My Satellite L50-A-1D9 wont start

My laptop can start. The power button does not work and there is no any light signals when it is connected to charge. Any thoughts? How can I remove the battery.
The laptop is satellite L50-A-1D9

Hi
On your notebook model you cannot remove battery. It is placed under the bottom cover and it should be removed by authorized personal only.
But your model has force shut down hole that you can also use for notebook reset. How it works you can read on https://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB3C03JR0000R01.htm
Please test it. I hope this will help you

    Hello
today my laptop don't running. I click power button and and nothing happens. Yesterday laptop turn on.
    Plaese help me.
    Sorry for my English

    Hi
Please turn over the unit and search for the reset hole
In case of PC is freezing, not booting or has a power failure, which cannot be fixed by pressing and holding the power button for 10 seconds (force shutdown), please use the force shutdown switch.
When pressing this force shut down button, the system behavior is the same as unplugging the AC-adaptor and removing the main battery.

  • Satellite P300-156: Vista wont start after installation of Toshiba Tempo

    Hi
I have a new Satellite P300-156 which I have been using for about a month with no problems. It has been great.
This morning I had a message come up to install Toshiba Tempo which I did and all was fine until I restarted the laptop and now Vista wont start.
I have followed all the diagnostic tools, tried system restore etc... but still nothing.
I currently live in Italy, so is hard to take it into a computer repair shop as I dont speak Italian and the operating system is in english.
From what I can see my only option now is to do the TOSHIBA HDD Recovery, but I would loose some data which I have done since my last backup. Is there any way to backup data to a usb storage device using command promts before I do this, or is there a simpler way out of this?
    Any advice would be great.
    Thanks
    Keith

    Hi
Thanks for getting back so soon, however, F8 does nothing when starting. I have an option of F2 or F12, but neither gives me options to access last known good configuration.
Is that the same as a system restore from the Vista system recovery options as I have tried this (gives you a list of last known configurations). But still no luck.
If I do the TOSHIBA HDD Recovery function do I need a disc for this?
    thanks

    > Just purchased the new Laptop/tablet 3 days ago.
The new notebook should function properly if its not the case, then either the hardware or software cause the problem.
I think its hardware so why you dont get in contact with your notebook dealer and ask for new notebook.
Replace this unit and test the new one

  • Satellite C55-A-1MW wont start with new RAM inserted

    Hey .
I hope to find someone that can help me.. I've bought ram-memories and tried 4 different memories in my Satellite C55-A-1MW. But every ram card I insert makes the computer unable to start.. it will light up just to shut down again.
Is there some compability issue or anything? I've used 2 different aData Ram extensions car, 1 4gb and 1 2gb . the 4gb card was 1333 mhz and the 2gb card was 1600mhz. and i've tried 2 different corsair cards 4gb 1600mhz.
Is it something that makes it only able to extend the RAM with Toshibas own memories or is the second cardslot for RAM memory broken?

As I can see you use RAM modules with different specifications. Your problem is definitely RAM compatibility problem and you should use RAM modules with the same specification.
According notebook specification there are 4 memory slots and notebook can handle up to 32GB of RAM.
    Compatible RAM modules are:
    4GB DDR3L-1600 - PA5104U-1M4G
    8GB DDR3L-1600 - PA5104U-1M8G
Of course you can use modules from other manufacturers but please don't use some cheap products. I can recommend you usage of Kingston memory modules.

Does that mean you have access to the Windows Recovery Environment?
If so, open a command prompt, run this, and let us know what message you get.

  • Satellite L505D-SP6905R wont start

    Hi,
I have a laptop as described in the subject running Windows 7 (32 bits).
After a windows update process run automaticaly by the system last week, computer started to work erratically, causing two major issues i have not been able to solve yet.
1 - Whenever computer boots, it shows the boot manager menu without pressing F12 or any other key. I tried to reset BIOS defaults but it did not work out, therefore now i always have to select the boot drive before i can continue working.
2 - As soon as the message "Windows is starting" is shown on screen, computer freezes for 5 -30 secs making a very loud sound alert but showing neither an error message, blue screen nor accepting any other keyboard command. After the sound ends, windows finishes loading and i can continue working normally.
    - I tried to repair windows but it did nothing
    - I tried to run a "clean start up" as suggested by Microsoft but it did not work out as well
    - I veryfied the HD and it is OK ( with both Toshiba's utility and CHKDSK )
One funny thing i discovered is that if i press F8 to load the windows startup options menu, and then i choose "Start windows normally", the computer wont freeze or make any sound.
I would appreciate if anyone can help me out with this,
    Gustavo.

It sounds like a hard drive issue.  Do you know anyone you can borrow a drive from?  If so, you can try installing windows to it and see how it works from there.
if it works fine with a test drive then it just needs a new hard drive and they are very easy to replace.
A Windows update should have no effect on the bios, but a bad hard drive can cause that behaviour.

  • Satellite C50D-A-12V wont start with USB or ODD

I need to order a recovery media form Toshiba to reinstall to factory settings but I cannot get the Laptop to start up with a usb or CD device. I have changed the boot device but the laptop ignores the command and stars up in hdd every time.
    Can anybody help?

Start notebook and press F12 several times to enter boot menu. Put bootable USB stick into USB port or CD in optical disc drive after doing this, choose which device should be set as bootable device and press ENTER.
    Do you use bootable media?
If you need to order recovery media you can do this on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

  • Satellite A660 wont start again until i turn to safe mode

Just purchase toshiba Satellite A660: i tell the story to compensate closely to my answer, hopefully ..
I just purchase it new, run the insallation program for first use. When its up and running just within that day i noticed that it start to hang up when i hooked external drive for some program installation (adobe lightroom).
Its still fine but when i turn it off, it wont start again until i did turn to safe mode so that i could back up some of the files and run the recovery again.
This time on 64bit. When its finish its process, it works well for just a couple of hours.
It fell faster now thou, maybe because its on 64bit? ( any recommendation whether its 32 or 64bit) specs: i5 , 4ram, 1g ddcatd graphics , win7 home premium, ..
Now, when i turn it off it never start back again windows say.. start up repair. ..
I did let it run since this morning until now still they cant find whats the problem (i'm refering the loptop) .
So any idea on whats goin ?

    > It fell faster now thou, maybe because its on 64bit? ( any recommendation whether its 32 or 64bit) specs: i5 , 4ram, 1g ddcatd graphics , win7 home premium, ..
64bit Operating system is better if your notebook supports 4GB or more RAM.
Why? Because Win 32bit recognizes max 3.2GB even if more RAM is available.
This is 32bit limitation; no matter what OS it is; Linux, Win XP, Vista, Win7 etc
This is the reason why 64bit OS are so popular in the last time
    Regarding the OS issue;
    I recommend running a HDD recovery again... this means you should reinstall the OS usign the Toshiba recovery option;
Press F8 while powering up the notebook, Choose Repair my Computer, -> HDD recovery

  • Satellite U400-14B shuts itself off and now it wont start up

    Hi
just got a new Satellite U400 this week.
Was working perfectly the first few days, then last night, it just shuts itself off and now it wont start up.
I press the on button and the row of lights next to it light up, but nothing happens I dont even get as far as the Toshiba screen.
I have tried many things. I left it plugged in overnight, tried taking the battery out and no result as of now.
The little led lights on the bottom indicate that there its plugged in, the battery is white not orange, when pressed they all light up again only for a split second.
The only thing I can liken this too is when a car wont start and you keep turning and turning the key, well in this case pushing a button, and nothing happens, the fans dont whir or anything...
    help please...

Has extra Memory (RAM) been installed? Try removing one Memory Module and try a different Memory Slot.
If bad memory is not the problem, then there is not much else you can do except send it to an ASP for warranty repairs.

  • Satellite L50 won't start up - asks for HDD password

    Hi
    hopefully someone can help me
I have a Toshiba Satellite L50 laptop and when i start it up it says
+no bootable device please restart system+
It is still under waranty as it was only bought 6 months ago.
I took it back where i bought it and they told me to contact Toshiba.
I am waiting on a call back.
I am hoping someone can help. It also asks for HDD password.
Where do I find that information?

    Hi Kym
I guess the Satellite L50 cannot find the bootable device (HDD) because the HDD has been secured with an HDD password and without this password the HDD isnt accessible and the system will not boot up properly.
Did you set such HDD password in the past?
Im asking because such password isnt set on new notebooks. Such HDD password can be set only by notebook owner
From my knowledge if you dont know such HDD password, you will not be able to get access to the HDD in such case the HDD would be useless and the data would be lost
Therefore I would recommend you to check if someone has set the HDD password on your notebook in case you dont know the password, you will need to replace the HDD and to reinstall the system once again.

  • Satellite Pro L300/L300D series wont start properly

    Hi guys
I got a Toshiba Satellite Pro L300/L300D series and basically one day the laptop just stopped working and whenever I turned it on I just got to this blank page saying press CTRL + ALT + DEL to restart the system. So I tried to reboot it pressing F12 and using a new copy of Vista Ultimate. However when I come to install Vista on the drive it states that there is no drive present on the system.
Does anyone have any idea how I can overcome this problem, your help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    >What do I need to do and how can i create a partition if the computer wont start.
Can you please explain this again? It sounds pretty illogic to me. If your computer wants start how you can try to install OS?
Sorry my friend but now I am asking myself do we understand us correctly or I write about thing A and you write answer about something that I can define as thing B.
    Again:
Start your notebook and press F12 to enter boot device options
Put Vista installations DVD into optical disc drive
Choose CD/DVD drive in the list and press ENTER
Installations DVD will load (Windows is loading files...)
Follow the menu on the screen
When the stage with partitions is shown on the bottom right side (Drive options advanced)
The additional menu on the bottom will be shown
    Delete all listed partitions/partition
Use option NEW and create new one
Try to install Vista on this new created partition.
Can you do this or not?

  • New Satellite L50-C - wont allow updates and windows 10 upgrade, keeps asking to restart

Hi, hope someone can help:I picked up a new laptop yesterday with windows 8.1 installed and followed the prompts to upgrade to windows 10.  The computer downloaded what I presume were the updates for 8.1 to get it up to date before starting the windows 10 installation.  It has also downloaded the data for the windows 10 upgrade as I am now getting the prompt telling me the upgrade is ready to install. However, when I click on 'start the upgrade now' in the windows 10 upgrade box the laptop just restarts and boots back up to a windows 8.1 login.  Once logged into desktop Windows Update opens up and tells me that I need to restart to complete install of updates.  I click on the restart and the computer restarts but with no message telling me during the restart process that updates are installing as you might usually expect.  The boot-up then bring me back to the same point (login screen, then win8.1 desktop and Windows update again popping up asking for a restart).  I have followed these prompts and done several restarts thinking that it is working through bringing the updates in one by one however the update list doesn't vary when I check:  I ran the troubleshooter for update and got the following message: However even after doing this a couple of times I still have the same problem.  After reading up on these forums and elsewhere I tried running sfc/scannow (no issues detected). Can anyone help?

It says "to start, connect a camera"
does anybody knpws where i can find the drivers or what to do with this??

In order to use webcam, you have to use the Win 8.1 webcam app.
But you should also check the webcam access privacy settings.
You will find this under PC settings -> Pivacy -> webcam
Please check also the helpful Microsoft page about the internal Win 8.1 webcam
