My Satellite L755 - Win 8.1 cannot load (boot)

My laptop is Toshiba L755-16H, windows 8.1 update
All what I get now is the first screen of Toshiba Leaading Innovation and H2O bios then the logo of windows 8 (4 blue quartered window) then black screen with flashing cursor and the mouse arrow, and it keeps like that.
The details as follows:
it was working normally until certain critical update is installed from Windows update, then it refuses to load windows at all and gives error message.
1- in the beginning i tried to get into recovery options> advanced options> repair start up> but no benefit.
2- then i tried system restore> it failed and no benefit.
3- then system refresh> but i have windows 8 dvd not 8.1 so it said not suitable cd
4- then i searched the internet to enable safe mood and entered the following command in command prompt:
bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy (no quotes)
I got it from this forum:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/525027/windows-81-wont-boot-cant-access-anything/
and I could get into safe mood and tried to do system restore but it failed also.
After that I couldnt boot the computer at all or even get into the system BIOS setup with F2 or F8 or F12.
Also I tried to enter the dvd of the Laptop Recovery or the dvd of windows 8 but the they spins for little seconds and nothing happens although I am sure the dvd rom is the first in booting sequence, (but the dvd rom sometimes fails to read some disks)
I tried to disconnect the power supply and remove the battery then press the power button for 2 minutes > but no benefit.
I tried to press 0 (zero) with the power button on starting up and keep pressing zero to go to factory settings but no benefit.
Please Help me .
The computer is completely useless and I cant get into any options at all.
What can I do?????

*Resolved*
Thanks sincerely for every one tried to help me.
Nearly the problem has been _RESOLVED_
I think it was a matter of corrupted Master File Table (MFT) and volume bitmap and also Malware detected.
Here you are the details:
I removed the HDD from the defected laptop, and connected it to a SATA enclosure and connected it via USB cable to another working laptop.
I have performed a scan with antivirus (360 Internet security) but I didnt leave it to finish. It has detected a Trojan in the following path \Program files (x86)\Toshiba\Bluetooth Toshiba Stack\LANG\PTB\BTAssist.chm detected as Advanced Level Trojan Program.
I believed it may a problem of corrupted Registry or File system, so I have performed Error checking for the Windows partition (from Properties of the desired partition the Tools tab then Check under Error checking section, it found some errors and fixed them . then I stopped the antivirus scanning, connected the HDD and tried booting but no improvement.
I believe that that way of error checking is not very effective and the better method is via the command prompt so I opened cmd , then entered ( chkdsk driveletter: / r ) then it found many errors in the MFT and volume Bitmap (I am attaching a file containing the result). It corrected the errors.
I removed the HDD and connected it, and WOW the option to enter BIOS via F2 and boot sequence via F12 returned as a bottom line, and I could enter BIOS setup.
As I mentioned before my laptop doesnt have UEFI as I entered the BIOS setup and didnt find the Secure boot option.
I make the boot sequence DVD > then USB > then HDD.
I loaded Kaspersky Rescue Disk from a USB and did basic scan on just the start up items and memory it didnt find anything.
Still windows refuse to load normally.
But I could boot successfully from live CDs like Hirens boot and checked the memory, it was ok.
- I burnt a new DVD of windows 8 as the one I have may be slightly scratched so the lap couldnt from it.
- And finally I could boot from the windows 8 DVD, and tried to fix the start up> it failed.
- I tried to do system restore > failed
- I tried Refresh system > failed
- I tried Reset system > failed
So I decided to install a fresh copy of the windows.
And yes I could boot and went through installing a fresh copy of Windows 8 after FORMATTING C drive. And it went very well.
Now the windows is working very well. And I am performing another ( CHKDSK c: /r ) to make sure of the HDD.
It has finished with no errors detected and 0 KB in Bad sectors.
And till now everything seems very well..

  • Virus damaged Satellite L755-17Q - now can not load

    Satellite L755-17Q
I accidentally downloaded a virus, this virus I believe then turned off my computer, and now once I try to load it, the Toshiba screen appears, but then the screen goes black with just a small bar flashing in the top left corner. I gave this program administrator rights as I thought it was safe. Now I cannot use my laptop, what should I do?
    All help is appreciated.
PS I am rubbish with computers.

I've misplaced my recovery disk for that laptop, but will a recovery disk for a Satellite L500-19X be sufficient? I've used it before on that laptop however, windows was not genuine, along with there being no network driver thing, so I couldn't connect to the internet.
The only real difference that I could detect between the two was 32bit and 64bit which of course I don't have a clue what they are.
If you can, could you please give me a link to where I can download the necessary network driver along with the instructions on how to download it onto my computer. All help appreciated.
PS I would have given you the helpful/correct answer thing, but I am unaware of how to give you it.

  • Satellite L755 - after Win 8.1 upgrade cannot use FN+F8

    Hi Sirs;
After I update my laptop Toshiba Satellite L755 to Windows 8.1 and when I press FN+F8 to off or on the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth it is not working.
I removed VAP then system driver and then functions key utility and re installing it not Success to turn of,
    please any advice?

Windows 8.1 does NOT support the Value Added Package anymore!
The VAP was released for Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 Upgrade
Notebooks which were preinstalled with Win 8 do not contain VAP anymore!
But the Satellite L755 does not seem to be Win 8.1 supported.
So you will be lucky man if you will get these function buttons working.
I can recommend you to check the Win 8.1 driver released for Satellite L855 series.
Install the Toshiba Function Key Utility and Toshiba System Driver
    Maybe it would help

  • Cannot load device driver for DVD/CDRW - Satellite 1110

I have a Satellite 1110 and something has gone wrong with my DVD/CDRW and it will not read any CDs. It is reported as a MAT****A UJDA730 DVD/CDRW but the device status comes up as:
"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device but the error just returns. I cannot find a driver for it either on the manufacturer's web site or Toshiba's. I don't want to use the Product Recovery CD-ROM as it implies I will lose all software and data on the hard drive.
Can someone advise how to recover from this situation?
    Thanks

    Hi
Firstly you dont any driver for the CD/DVD drive. The drive uses the standard Windows OS driver and its not necessary to install it additional.
I assume there could be something wrong with the registry entry.
    Please check this forum posting:

  • Satellite L755-M1E6 - Cannot find this model on UAE - Middle East website

    Dear Friends,
I have purchased a new model of Satellite (L755-M1E6) from Abu Dhabi.
But i could not see this particular model number in the UAE - Middle East website.
Normally we could see that the model number has the format - "L755 - 000".
that means after L755 - only three digits.
Here in my laptop it shows 4 digits, L755-M1E6.
support website shows model number as "PSK2YE-0E602UAR" as against serial number.
Can you please clear my doubt that, is it a original toshiba laptop? is it a discontinued model?
Or please help me to know its correct model number.
    Please help me

    Hi
I am pretty sure this is a real Toshiba!
The model seems not to be an EMEA model though so it could be that it originates from another region of Toshiba - like Toshiba Asia.
Use your model number, the coplete PSK2YE-number you mentioned below along with the real serial which always is 9 charachters long ending with a letter (syntax 12345678A, X1234567A, 1X234567A or XY123456A - please understand that those are examples showing the syntax only - your letters and digits will be different!) and look them up here:
    Link: [https://onlineregistration.gedb.toshiba.com/GEDBPUBLIC/]
If you enter the proper information there you should be able to look up your PC.
    Good luck

  • Hd Audio Through Hdmi Satellite L755-S5246

    Hello,
I'm wondering if there is a way of getting full HD audio from The HDMI port on my Satellite L755-S5246. I have Gone through the sound options and tried to configure it to Surround Sound, But the only option is stereo. Is there a way to change this? According to device manger I have The CONEXANT audio driver for the speakers that are in the laptop and it is up to date. I tried to install the NVIDIA Audio driver, Because To my understanding it controls audio through the hdmi but When I tried to Install it comes up with an error message saying it cannot locate the drivers to install. Leaving me to believe that the NVIDIA driver isn't supported in my model. When I have My laptop connected to my television, and look at the sound properties, It says it's using the Intel Display Audio Driver for sound. And when I try to configure it under the sound properties on my laptop it's still doesn't list any other option other than stereo.
Question: is there a way getting Hd audio out Through the hdmi connection, Mainly Dolby 5.1 surround sound?
    Relevant Information:
    Laptop model: Satellite L755-S5246
    Operating System: Windows 7 Sp1

I can't test this because I don't have your sound card or your TV. But, I think you're playing with the wrong device. And, I apologize in advance if you've already done this. But, you haven't made clear what you've already done on the TV side of things.
With your laptop and your TV both turned on, with the HDMI cable connecting them, select as its video input the correct HDMI port that you've plugged the HDMI cable into on the TV, you then need to use your TV remote control to enter the TV's Menu, then select 'Audio Menu', use the up down arrows and select 'SRS TruSurround HD', turn it 'On'. If you want to try just audio (that is listen to mp3 files with no video) again, enter the 'Audio Menu', select 'Audio Only', turn this feature 'On', when you want to watch video turn off 'Audio Only'.
You can see the instructions for this staring on page 26 (Adobe Reader page 28) or your TV's user's guide. But, if you have already done all of the above, then sound coming out of your laptop, through the HDMI into your TV, is as good as it's going to get.
You have a Conexant Sound card & a Intel Video/Display card in your laptop. You have no nVidia devices at all, so no nVidia driver will ever load on your laptop. Because you have a Intel Video/Display card, and the HDMI port is mainly for watching DVDs, etc, on an external TV/monitor, the display card handles the HDMI audio as well.
Let us know what happens. Good luck.

  • Toshiba Satellite L755-S5306 Blue Screen of Death BSOD

If you are having “The Blue Screen Of Death” (BSOD) with a Toshiba Satellite L755-S5306 you are not alone. Please leave a comment in hopes enough of us can find each other and come up with a more permanent solution than the work around I present here. As of the day this was posted there was nothing index into Google or Toshiba’s forums regarding a Toshiba Satellite L755-S5306 having a BSOD problem.
Unfortunately I don't have an answer or solution so much as a troubleshooting alternative and that is to install Ubuntu 11+. I would rather use windows7 but the fact that Ubuntu runs without crashes indicates that my problem is a Windows 7 software issue. Windows7 is conflicting with either the hardware within my computer or some pre-installed factory software.
This laptop is new (it has only been out of the box for 3 months), has an i3 processor, 4GB of RAM and is still under warranty; until Sept. 10, 2012. I have yet to contact Toshiba but will. Within the last month (Feb. 2012) I started to get multiple BSODs out of no where. These were the following error messages:
    1. KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
    Caused By Driver : luafv.sys
    2. KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
    Caused By Driver : Ntfs.sys
    3. SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
    Caused By Driver : ntoskrnl.exe
    4. PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
    Caused By Driver : ntoskrnl.exe
    5. KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
    Caused By Driver : partmgr.sys
You can see my full BSOD error reports here: CLICK HERE
I have done all of the following hoping to solve this issue with no luck:
    1. Re-formated computer with factory shipped disk. Five Minutes after I did this I got the BSOD. That definitely eliminated the idea that it was something I had installed or that it was a windows update conflict.
    2. Got all window updates. That didn’t help.
    3. Checked all drivers manually one by one through the device manager for updates; according to the Device Manager there was no updates.
*However, this is the only area of hope that I have. I downloaded the program Drive Max and it list several drivers as outdated. I can only download two a day and install them. After I have them all installed I will report back as to whether or not I have a BSOD.
    4. Updated BIOS. Toshiba did have a BIOS update available but the update did not fix my BSOD problems. I have seen on this forum many people have had problems with the BIOS but I have not.
    5. Ran window's memory diagnostic tool. It reported  no errors.
60 I also ran Ubuntus memory test and passed.
    7. Check Disk with no errors
After all those failed attempts I took to the Internet. That is when I ran across a post online where a person stated they had the same problem with a similar Toshiba laptop and switched to Ubuntu. After doing so they had no problems. I did the same and agree I have no issues after one week. So I hope this helps for now. If anyone has this problem or finds a windows based solution please leave a comment.

Thank you all for your help.
Since I reformatted every time I have booted up I have turned on the Windows memory diagnostic too. I did this in hopes that if a BSOD occurred it would catch something when it rebooted and today it did after an extended memory test.
I got the standard message, “Hardware problems were detected...Test results will be displayed again after you log on”, however no test results were ever displayed. Does anyone know if there is a way to manually find the results of the test? Also, I ran the test again to see if I could get the results and the second time it said there were no problems detected.
At this point I am suspecting it to be a faulty stick of RAM. Windows 7 utilizes about 1.25GB of ram when booted and Ubuntu 200MB. This very well could be why Ubuntu works without problems.
I have to write a business plan in the next few weeks and cannot send my laptop in until that is done. So I will continue to use Ubuntu until done with my plan and then contact Toshiba. I will post back with any information I get in regards to the problem and once again thank you all for your help.

On windows XP or linux have a MAC adress Change function  allow 00 mac adress and another normal mac adress range. On windows 8.1 all Mac changer program dont work. This 2,6,A,E on second adress are not vaild Mac adress. You simply can not use normal MAC
addresses on windows 8.1.When i connect the usb the Pc windows 8.1 recognizes the adapter but the default  driver and the downloaded ralink driver the same problem. On windows xp the current driver works perfectly have (Local Mac Network Adress) funktion
and works with the 802.11b hot spot.I got the internet my PC and laptop too public HotSpots and another wifi HotSpots if wont work correctly i can not use neither the windows 7,8,8.1 or 10. Many users have expressed interest in the problem more forums.
The 3. problem im tested in virtualbox the windows 7 and 8.1 on 8.1 (on the blue wifi platform) not show correctly the signal strengh. On windows 7 show this correctly. The windows 7-8.1 Configure/advanced the advanced options on Ralink 3070 the default (windows
driver) somehow downgraded function is less than for Xp. Configure/advanced the advanced options (needs to be upgraded in the future) because it does not advance but rather regressed.
Today it is very common these wi-fi technology increasingly used (hotels,Public Hots Spots,Internet coffe,) growing free bublic wifi projects. The wifi funktions on windows  need debugging and modernize. The quality of Wi-Fi is now the operating system
is now a thing order which is not good then the operating system is unusable.

    Hi,
For changing the MAC address for Windows 7 is designed with some limitation, we cannot get over it. Thanks for your understanding.
Under Windows 7, the possible range of spoofed addresses for wireless adapters that can be set is limited.  To be used by Windows 7, a spoofed MAC address should have 0 as a least significant bit (unicast) and 1 as a second least significant
bit (locally administered) in the second nibble.  Thus possible values for the second nibble are limited to 2, 6, A and E.
    In other words
    MAC address:  “XY-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX” “X” can be anything hexadecimal.  The hexadecimal “Y”, written in binary format, is  Y:  “kmnp”,  where “p” is the least significant bit;
    p=0 --> unicast;
    p=1 --> multicast;
    n=0 --> globally assigned MAC;
    n=1 --> locally administered;
    So, actually MAC can be changed  to any combination in which p=0 and n=1;
    “Y” can be 2, 6, A or E.
So the possible MAC addresses in Windows 7 for wireless adapters:
    X2-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX
    X6-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX
    XA-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX
    XE-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX

  • Cannot load EWA report

    Dear All,
i have configure for EWA report but the report still not give reported for each satellite system in Solman. one week ago we receive msg from SAP that give us Red Alert for our Production systems, this mean that solution manager for EWA is working. but the problem is the report cannot load the EWA report for every systems in Solman. anyone can help me please...
    Thanks

make sure you configured your satellite system properly in SMSY and the RFC are working, also the BACK RFC from satellite system to SolMan.
Goto SDCCN in your satellite system and make sure that a EarlyWatch is scheduled which sends data to your SolMan SID (not OSS!!). This can only be achieved by having a "Request Session Data" Report which has a 10* session and not a Z* session.
If this is not the case :
    1) delete your EarlyWatch Schedule in Satellite system via SDCCN
    2) unschedule your task processer
    3) make sure the installation number in SMSY (SolMan) is correct - same like in satellite system
    4) recreate via "Maintain service definitions" your SDCC_OSS connection
    5) reschedule the task processer job.
    6) recreate a new EarlyWatch Alert for Solution Manager which sends data to your SolMan.
If you have defined your SolMan as the Master for SDCCN (done via SMSY / Menue: Environment / Solution Manager Operation /  Administer SDCCN) you just have to schedule "EarlyWatch" instead of 6., this should automatically generate "EarlyWatch Alert for Solution Manager "

  • K7N2-L cannot load MCP Networking drivers in Win98

My system is new and consists of:
    K7N2-L mobo
    AMD XP 2500 CPU
2 x 512 MB Twin Muskin DDR High Performance Black modules
    All in Wonder ATI 7500
    120 GB WD HD
I think that I have set up my Bios correctly and have installed Win 98 without any problem. All drivers loaded ok from the included CD, except for the nvidia nforce MCP Networking Adapter.
Everytime I reboot my OS recognizes that the onboard networking adapter is present, but I cannot load it.
I don't see that anyone has had this probem in this forum and wondered if perhaps it has anything to do with the MAC Address which is in the default (disabled) mode.
If I should have MAC Address enabled, how do I find out what Mac Address to use?
I would be very appreciative of any suggestions anyone would be kind enough to make.
    TIA
    John  ?(  ?(  ?(

Jef, first thanks for the quick response.
Yes, I'm using win98, not SE, which I had read somewhere else (after I loaded it)would not work.  Since all other drivers loaded properly I was hoping I would be lucky and it would be ok, but I suspected it might be my problem. Thank you for verifying it.
Also, in MSI FAQ it mentioned MAC address was on the ACR slot, but I didn't see it.  Your mirror suggestion was the trick, but I wonder why MSI puts it towards the case side so that it so damn hard to see?
If I read backwards correctly, my MAC address is 0010DCE2D88B on what looks like a bar code sticker. I remember somewhere reading that the MAC was a combination of 12 letters and numbers which would fit this number.  Does this sound right to you?  There is also another sticker, but the writing is so small, I cannot make out what's on it.
Since I'm this far along, and will need to purchase Win98 SE or XP, I will try putting in these numbers and see what happens and let you know (I'm not too hopeful though).
    Again, I appreciate your help.

Yes, you need to have the MAC address enabled.  The MAC address should be on a sticker on the motherboard.  You\'ll likely need a small mirror to read it as it\'s probably located on the side of your last card slot.

  • Satellite L755-16J - Trouble with sound card

I currently own a Toshiba *Satellite L755-16J* and it is having some sort of trouble with the sound card, i think.
When i bought it, it came with windows 7, i changed the windows to windows 8 and since then the audio has been troubling me.
The internal speakers work for a minute or two when i play an audio file but then stop working.
i had been using an external usb soundcard and external speakers for some time but decided to switchback to windows 7 for the sound to work properly again. even though i have switched back to win 7, the sound still doesnt work.
I am quite sure that the problem is not in the internal speakers because they do work, although just for a brief moment but they work, so i am guessing the problem is in the software instead of the hardware.
i tried updating the sound drivers but they seem to be up to date, according to windows the drivers "seem to be working properly"
    Can anyone help?

    > even though i have switched back to win 7, the sound still doesnt work.
    How did you do that?
Did you use the Toshiba Recovery Disk in order to install Win 7 or did you install the Win 7 using fresh and clean Windows 7 disk?
The notebook supports Conexant sound chip. The sound driver is available on the Toshiba EU driver page and in case the sound chip is already recognized in device manager after the sound driver installation, I assume the driver has been installed properly.
In such case I would recommend you to connect the headphones.
In case the headphones would function properly, the speakers might be affected. I mean the hardware. But of course its only an idea.
Beside the headphone check, you could check also the settings within the control panel -> sound -> playback tab.
Usually the speakers should be set as default device.
    Check this option too.

I'm facing a strange behavior of InfoPath 2013 while using with SharePoint Designer 2013 to customize the forms. Whenever i open any SharePoint form to customize it in InfoPath 2013, it gives me error "InfoPath cannot load the view. The view may have
been modified to contain unsupported HTML such as frames."
Just like all other folks, i also assumed that the forms are corrupted and i need to change the extension to *.cab and blah blah blah. But, when i noticed that the error is coming with new list forms, new workflow forms as well then i tried to research on
the issue. Surprisingly, all forms are opening on my colleague's PC but not from my PC. We're using the same server, same SharePoint Production, same SharePoint Development and similar InfoPath. Infact, our system team has prepared both of us in a similar
way. The only difference is OS, where he is using Win 8 and mine is Win 7 Pro.
Therefore, from last 1 week, i've to swap my PC with my colleague if i've to customize or update any form in InfoPath 2013. This is quite bizarre. Can someone let me know what's wrong with this issue?

    Hi Sohaib,
I'd like to double confirm with you that the issue only occurs to your client machine. Please log on to another machine and see if the issue is related to your account.
If the issue is only related to your machine, I'd recommend you clear InfoPath cache and repair Office program.
Then go to InfoPath > Options > More Options > General > Internet Options > Add SharePoint sites to your trusted sites and disbale protected mode.

  • Cannot load itunes for windows

I cannot load itunes for windows
    Can you help me?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.
