my screen always wiggle. Is it hardware problem??

If you are seeing icons wiggling on the screen, you have held an icon down too long. Press the home button and this should stop.

You could try a reset and see if that fixes it : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
If it doesn't then you could try restoring to your last backup and/or resetting back to factory defaults. But if it's a hardware issue then you will need to contact Apple.

  • When I open Mail the screen flickers random blue and gray appeared on the screen. I took a video too. Will that happen again? Is it hardware problem? This ipad2 32GB was replaced yesterday and I think it is refurbished. Are replace product refurbished?

I got my ipad2 replaced yesterday. And this new ipad started giving me problem by crashing aps. Then I restored the ipad twice but the problem was still there. I called apple and they fixed it by doing Reset All Settings. But now I have this weird problem. When I open Mail the screen flickers random blue and gray appeared on the screen. I took a video too. Will that happen again? Is it hardware problem? This ipad2 32GB was replaced yesterday and I think it is refurbished. Are replace product refurbished?

There is no way for anyone here to know if your replacement iPad is a refurbished unit.  Per Apple's replacement policy, replacements can be refurbished units.  If you feel the unit is not working correctly, take it back, let them check it out and if found defective, they will replace that unit.

  • Problem with my iPod touch: Frozen screen, unable to access anything as slider does not work, will not accept a full restore.  Apple Store advised that it is a 'hardware' problem and I could trade-in!

I am a relatively 'new' user.  Touch was a gift, I used it in a simplistic way - listened to music took a few photos, added a few calendar events.  After a year I then decided to be more proactive and found a few free apps (Solitaire) - then had a the frozen screen problem which I though was connected to low battery, but it wasn't.  I recharged it, still could not access, then tried a full restore and got an error message.  Took it to a Genius Bar and was told it was a hardware problem and as it is out of warranty  I could trade in or just buy a different product.  As this is my first Apple product is this usual?  Do Apple products have a very short shelf life - I anticipated that it would last me longer than a year!  Has anyone else had this problem?  Was it able to be resolved? Or is it worth trying to get it repaired - and if so who can do it - Apple  Store did not offer that to me as an option?

Sure sounds like a hardware problem. It happens some times. The iPod is just an electrical device.
Apple will exchange it for a refurbished one for this price. Apple does not repair your iPod.

  • Screen freezing - virus or hardware problem?

Since a week my macbookpro is experiencing difficulties with the screen.
If you like I can sent you a screenshot taken with my tablet.
In short: when I am using programs like photoshop or capture one the problem occurs faster.
What happens: or the screen freezes, or the screen gets entirely striped.
After he hard reset, sometimes I can continue working, but sometimes nothing comes after the startup sound: Only a blank screen and the ventilators making noise.
Is this a virus, or a hardware problem?
    Appreciate your help.
    Regards
    Dimitri

The hardware test that comes with your system is fairly limited. If it finds something, you can be pretty sure that you've got a hardware issue... but if not, it means nothing. It only means you don't have a problem that it is capable of detecting.
Apple can run more extensive - and more conclusive - diagnostics on your graphics card.

iMac G5 (iSight) with 10.4.11:  Screen always dimmed. Starts at full bright and a second later dimms and stays like that forever.  Brightness controls work normally under this circunstance.  Please help !!!
Please don't tell me to adjust anything on the preferences, since I have tried all.  I think it may be anoter kind of problem, maybe hardware related or anything.
I ran the Hardware repair DVD and everything was ok, but when the imac restarted the screen was very lit again, but when it went sleep, when it went awake again the screen got dimmed again.  Because of that I think that the problem could be software related, but who knows.  Excuse my english.

I can't see another possible answer - the longer your machine is up, the more the power supply is stressed, it protects itself by dimming the screen to lower the draw on it.

Do you have a case on your iPhone? It could be pressing the buttons on the iPhone and causing it to restart or behave unusually.

  • Freezing Aluminum iMac - Apple Genius Bar Confirms Hardware Problems

Good morning to all my fellow sad iMac users,
I wanted to post a message to let you all know that I just returned from the Apple Store genius bar, and that they confirmed to me that it was a faulty graphics card.
It was a very pleasant trip to the genius bar that I wish I didn't have to make, as I just don't have that kind of free time. In all, it only took about 15 minutes of the genius trying to recreate the screen artifacts followed by the inevitable frozen state. Once the genius saw the failure, they consulted their knowledge base and told me the video card needed to be replace. I was told that the ATI 2600 HD cards were not in stock, and that it had to be ordered, but that I would be able to pick my system up within 5 business days.
I am still skeptical about the diagnosis, although I have always known it was hardware and not software. I am skeptical due to the good reviews the ATI Mobility 2600 has received in the PC world. However, I am very happy that someone is finally owning up to the fact that 'something' is wrong with the hardware.
I will post again in 5 days to let you all know if the problem was fixed with the new graphics card. And I definitely urge you all to take your iMacs to your local Apple Store (if you have access to one)!
    Regards,
Soon to be happy iMac owner (fingers crossed)...

After 3 times on the phone with Applecare and 2.5-3 hours gone, I'm going to see a technician 1/2 hour away. Each rep I asked if they have heard of the "freezing iMac issue" and they said "yes". The second phone call the lady said the previous person didn't document what we had done, even though i had case number, and we had to start over. Well we didn't start over, I explained what we did before. She had me create new account - still could hang it in 5 min or less - then she had me try to reinstall OS. When machine reboots on Leopard DVD I selected English, then the Disk. Then I asked "where is the 'archive' option?" She says, "it is in the sequence somewhere look around" (paraphrase), I was beyond it and hit "install" thinking next step would confirm install options. Luckily it is set to archive users by default, but it about gave me a heart attack. I told her what was happening, that I thought my data may be destroyed, and her response was "good luck". I had to hang up. I should have asked for her supervisor.
Next person was knowledgeable and reasonable. He reassured me data would be there as the default setting was to archive - thank God. I also had set up time machine previously so I was sort-of sure I had data somewhere. Still very uneasy feeling. I got data back and iMac hung 5 minutes or less after startup. Now I have to go to technician. I asked the last guy "what are chances of swapping for a new machine and admitting this thing is hosed?" He explained that it won't work this way as I was out of the return/refund time of 15 days. I explain that this is leaving a real bad impression and that I felt poked in the eye because I waited patiently for Apple's promised update, burning the return time. That was a bad gamble.
We all learn from this stuff. I'm lucky enough to have several macs, so I can keep going, what happens to guy with one mac? Turn around time at apple store is 5 days - from technician, could be couple weeks. Ouch. I'm 3.5hours from Apple store.

  • Blue screen, flickering, unresponsive mouse and desktop, problems reinstal

For a while now my Imac has been playing up, one day I turned it on and it went to a blue screen, this had never happened before and obviously as all newbies to macs I kind of freaked out but hoped it would just 'go away' but for a few months now it always goes to the blue screen before properly starting up, sometimes it will just crash at the grey apple icon with the little wheel stopping.
My mac has become very slow, opening small applications such as Skype would send it into a melt down, making the whole display look really strange, then it started flickering, grey vertical lines across the screen. Overtime this stopped and only happened occasionally, however recently after my mac has powered on, the desktop/finder would be unresponsive, the mouse would track but I could not click on ANYTHING, I'm even unable to force quit or relaunch the finder. I had to force restart the mac numerous times in the hope it would just work, however it didnt.
I decided my only option was to erase and reinstall mac os x, seriously it took me about, 10 hours to try and do this, non stop!! it would hang at 12% and then not do anything for hours, I again, had to force restart the mac, then it would say it could not be installed as the start up disk wasn't recognised, which I will add in now that for MONTHS I have not been able to select the macintosh HD as my start up disk, always says something about the bless tool being unable to select it :S
Anyway, it finally worked, the reinstalling, however it reinstalled, I logged in and then, again, the mouse or the finder became unresponsive!! I thought erasing and reinstalling would have fixed this!
Its finally working now, however I'm not sure for how long, it still has the blue screen when starting up which I hoped would also be fixed, and I am still unable to change the start up disk, I have tried resetting the PRAM, and run numerous disk utility tests which always come back saying the mac is fine.
I'm not very smart when it comes to macs and how to sort them out, I have apple care and wondered whether I should just take it in store and ask them to take a look at it, or if there is anything else I could possibly do to try and fix this myself?!
    Any help please!

Hi, and welcome to the forums.
for MONTHS I have not been able to select the macintosh HD as my start up disk, always says something about the bless tool being unable to select it :S
In future, when bad things start happening, investigate. They rarely get better by themselves.
I have apple care and wondered whether I should just take it in store and ask them to take a look at it, or if there is anything else I could possibly do to try and fix this myself?!
That sounds like hardware problems, most likely the internal HD. Try running this: [Apple Hardware Test: iMac (Mid 2007) and later models|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1883]. Run the Extended tests.
and/or the (free) Rember, a heavy-duty memory tester, from: http://www.kelleycomputing.net/
If either show errors, yes, you'll need to make an appointment at the Genius Bar: http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/
If not, try Verifying your internal HD, per #6 in [Formatting, Partitioning, Verifying, and Repairing Disks|http://web.me.com/pondini/AppleTips/DU.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Using Snow Leopard+ forum).
Then +*Repair Permissions+* on it, per #5 there.

My iPhone 5 dies at 20-24% it doesn't go all the way to 0%. Will apple replace my phone or fix my phone for free since its hardware problem and I have no money. This is my second iphone 5 replacement. I have no apple care so I'm worried. My phone has NEVER touched water! I only get 1/5 of battery use. I've also spent 30$ at the apple store on screen protectors for nothing! I really don't have 220$ nor 50$ I am on a strict budget. I believe I have to pay 220 not 50 ford a phone replacement for accidental damage. I don't know what category this falls under. I really need a new phone or battery. HELP! Will I have to pay? Also my screen lighting is all topsy-tervy every I put my screen on highest it won't work I have to wait about a minute? Forgot to mention that my apps exit out by themselves all the time when Im using them.

So, have you tried a reset?  Restore from backup? Restore as new?  You seem to have a few problems but do not mention any action taken to resolve them.  What have screen protectors to do with anything?

  • "DPC_watchdog_violation" happens almost everyday, tried re-installing, is this a hardware problem?

Hello, I'm from Hong Kong. You guys must be wondering why I'd post in a foreign forum instead of local one - I cant find any support from my local forum. I cant even find this model form my local Website.
First of all, I brought this laptop (Envy 14) in 2013 from my so called "University Notebook Scheme". But once I got my first Envy, problem arised - my screen keeps flashing. I went back to the store and replaced it with a new one. Yet, this "new one" keeps having "DPC_watchdog_violation" almost everyday, no matter what Im doing - browsing the Net, using iTunes, even when Im using Microsoft Office for my assignments.
I've tried many solutions suggested: updating software & drivers, and reinstalling the windows; nothing works. Instead, more problem arised throughout these 2 years: my screen starts to flash, sometimes I cant even turn my computer on (power button on with a black, turned on, screen). I cant update my windows - "Failure configuring Windows updates, Reverting changes" and got stuck in the update loop.
I'm scared to do anything with this laptop now, even typing this "problem discription". I stored every files into the Dropbox for safety purposes. I save my Word documents every minutes, try to run as less programme as I could.
I've been wondering if this is a hardware problem, a serious one. Some of my classmates also got this Laptop from the University Scheme as well, most of them reported with the same issue (especially for the screen/display issue). With the notorious HP's repair and warranty service,  I'm discouraged to sent my Laptop to them. I've even heard that I'll be charged even I'm still under warranty.
P.S. sorry if I have made any grammatical mistakes.
