My screen died!! Help!
Last night I was using my unplugged MacBook pro, I was monitoring the battery left and when it got to 22%, the laptop turned itself off. (is that normal?) I rebooted it but the screen hasn't recovered, I've restarted a few times and I hear the engine working but the screen is black. Help- what happened! Can I fix this or do I need to take it in?
Try the following:
- A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

2nd Gen Macbook Pro - Screen died/went black for a few hours

I have a second gen 15" Macbook Pro (c2duo 2.16) and recently when I was using the Internet the screen died on me. The display seemed to turn off but the Hd kept working, I pressed some keys to try and revive it, but no joy. Thinking that the display had died on me, I left it to one side, only to find that a couple of hours later it miraculously came back to life.
It's only happened the one time so far, but I am feeling a bit uneasy about this. Could it be that this is a sign of a logic board/GPU failure? Is the ATI x1600 prone to failure? I am a little concerned as I need my laptop for some regular PS design work, anyone have any similar problems?Yes, I had the exact same problem with a second gen 17" MBP (2.33 core 2 duo). When the machine got hot, the graphics card would seem to die and I'd need to leave the machine off for several hours if I wanted the screen to come on again (and even then it wouldn't always work). It seemed when the GPU got to around 50ºC everything would freeze and upon restart, the screen would not come back on. I ended up having to get the logic board replaced (at cost - luckily this is a company-owned machine so they dealt with that) and so far, so good. However, it seems the ATI X1600 is prone to heat damage as can be seen by various threads here and around the net.
A tip from my experience: enable screen sharing. That way if you have a spare computer (any will do, as long as you enable the VNC server) you can still use your Mac when/if the screen goes again. Helpful if you're in the middle of something and didn't get to save or whatever. -
I opened my iPod Touch up to fix my home button. When i closed it back up it had a white screen. I tried pressing lock and home button for 10 seconds and it worked but while i'm using it it goes white with lines on the screen. Help please. This has been happening for a while and i've tried everything but it doesn't work.

I have a late 2008 Macbook Pro last updated to the Mavericks OS. The screen died and I took it into an Apple store and was told replacing the screen and the hardware to repair everything would cost almost as much as buying a new laptop or a cheaper model. I was told that I can use a drive sled to access data I need on my hard drive. How do I remove my hard drive and use a drive sled to get to the information I need? What makes matters more complicated is I need to update my iPhone and my iTunes/App store purchases. How can I accomplish this?
My wife has a late 2008 Macbook Pro as well, which I am assuming I need to run my hard drive. Is there a way to just access just my hard drive without interfering with hers?
I know this is lengthy. Thanks to whoever looks at this and offers advice/instruction.the device you need is an External enclosure for a 2.5" (laptop form factor) SATA drive.
A USB-interface enclosure will be slow, but is adequate for this task and for re-purposing as a backup drive later. A firewire-interface drive would be faster, but is harder to find, more expensive, and faster than needed for this purpose.
The drive will mount as an "extra" drive on your wife's Macbook, and you can drag and drop whatever you wish. You could create a separate Account for yourself on her computer, and use Migration Assistant or just copy your stuff over to the new account. Then it would not interfere with her files. -

I used to have an icon on my menu bar at the top of my screen to help me detect displays (monitors) It has disappeared and I don't know how to get it back. Does anyone know?

You may have a corrupt System File in your OS on on your HD. Try doing a repair (Command-R) boot running disk tools repair disk and repair permissions on your boot volume. If that fails do a reinstall of the OS. -
my screen is completely white, i've tried holding lock and home buttons as seen on you tube something called 'white screen of death' its goes black (think it switches off) then back to the white screen need help fast please!
If you have not done a factory reset on the device, I recommend doing a complete factory reset.
Factory Reset - Warning this will reset device back to original factory settings.
This method will not erase any MDN/MIN information
Turn off the phone
Press Power + Volume Up/Down at the same time and hold until display will show a triage android screen
Display will show:
Reboot system Now
Apply sdcard:update.zip
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Wipe Cache Partition
Use VOL Down key to scroll down to "Wipe Data/Factory Reset", press home icon to select option and wipe device.
Display shows "All user data will be wiped out", press VOLUME Up to continue or VOLUME Down to exit.
Press Volume Up
Press Home to select "Reset System Now" - device will reboot
If the problem persist I recommend having a store technician take a look at the device.

Choppy video on big screens PLEASE HELP!
I've noticed that the videos that I have exported from CS3 are very smooth when played on a computer screen and average size tv screen, but are very choppy if played on a large TV or projected on the wall. Is there a way to remedy this? Please help!

How is the large-screen projector connected, via a set-top DVD player to it, or by a computer connected to it? If it's via a set-top player, is it the same one used for the small-screen TV, or a different one? What is the make and model of the set-top player(s)?
Also, what DVD media was used, and what was the burn speed used to create the DVD? Was this authored in Encore, or with some other authoring application?
