My screen has suddenly gone black and doesnt respond to anything

Hi all,
Last night my screen suddenly went black, however the phone is still on as it vibrates when I ring it.
Ive tried the master reset but it wont actually turn off. Ive also restored the OS and its still faulty.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

Welcome to the discussions,
did you restore "as new iphone", without using the backup to restore from afterwards?
Also try this, mentioned here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
Display has no backlight or dark screen
1 Toggle the ringer switch to see if the unit vibrates. If it does, it could be that iPhone is getting power, but is not displaying any image.
2 Turn iPhone off and turn it on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPhone for a few seconds until a red slider appears, and then slide the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
3 While connected to the iPhone charger, try to reset the iPhone. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until either the Apple logo or battery symbol appears. If the battery symbol appears, continue to charge iPhone until it is fully charged.

My ipod touch gen 4 screen has suddenly gone black, i tried resetting it and the white apple symbol suddenly appears then goes black again, restoring it to factory setting and updating it but it hasnt changed any assistance would be greatly appecited

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

    Hey MissC@t,
Although the following article says 6th generation, most of the troubleshooting steps should still apply to your 7th generation nano. I'd go through the troubleshooting steps and see if that resolves the issue:

    Hi mikemikenation,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
The article linked below provides troubleshooting tips that can help you resolve the blank black screen issue with your iPhone 5s.
Get help with the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
If you see a solid color screen (black, white or blue)
Plug in your device to a power source. If you see the low-battery screen when you plug in, let your device charge for at least 10 minutes (20 minutes for iPad) before using it.
Reset your device while it's plugged in.
If resetting doesn’t fix the issue, restore your device.
If you still see the issue after you restore, contact Apple Support.
    Take care,
    -Jason

  • HT1212 my gen 3 ipad has suddenly gone dark and i cant turn it on! what did i do wrong and what should i do to correct this?

I inherited a 3rd gen iPad recently and reconfigured it with a new passcode etc. I used it earlier today without any problem then turned it off and set it to charge. When I disconnected the cord and pressed the wake also switch it opened to the passcode screen. Before I had entered three of the many letters of my pass code the screen went dark and I can not get it to come on again. What have I done and what do I do now???

    Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.

  • My YouTube account has suddenly gone 'black'. Videos won't play.

Have only just had this problem. Am staying with my daughter. I am 83 so if you have a suggestion please take this into account!! Thank you.

    You're welcome
Yes, a reset is always the first thing to try if you experience some glitches after installing new software or apps or if some apps are getting stuck.
Another way would be double clicking the home button, to bring up the taskbar, tap on one of the listed apps until they start to shake, then hit the little cross in the corner of the icon, to close the app completely. Tap the home button to stop the motion and to close the taskbar again.
This would be a thing to try before you reset the device, it is faster and you can only address the one app causing you problems.

See above. This seemed to happen when I was moving my hand across the "scratchpad" to simply click on something else.
