my screen turned black and i can not see anything. calls come through but i can not answer unless i assume where the sliding tab to answer it is on the screen . i turned it off and now i cant turn it back on because it needs my passcode lock which i can not put in because i can not use the screen....!!
Try a Reset, hold both Home and Power buttons until the iPhone begins to start, usually about 10 seconds of holding both buttons.
Also you can try putting iPhone on Wall Charger and Reset again.
If still nothing Restore.
If still problem it will be covered by Warranty.

If this iPhone has had the screen replaced previously, possibly LCD Display connector has simply come loose from the Logic Board. Possibly the LCD Display is faulty and the front screen assembly needs to be replaced. If you have Warranty or AppleCare make Genius reservation or set up service and take or send to Apple. This is handled by Apple with Replacement iPhone 4S.

Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)

My iTunes screen has turned black on my Mac.
I am therefore unable to see what's selected. Has anyone any ideas? I've tried the universal access options but no luck.
If you just upgraded to the new iTunes match it's a beta version still with plenty of bugs still left in the software.try restarting your computer and get back into iTunes and see what happens.if the problem persists then I would down grade the the last version of iTunes and that should take care of the problem.if you haven't upgraded there are a few worms and trojans viruses floating around in the Mac software recently and it could be and could be causing your problems.

Try a reset. Hold down the Sleep/Wake button + Home button for around 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears.

FIRST charge with an Apple charger for at least 15 minutes. Then hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears. Hold for up to 30 seconds. If nothing happens the phone hardware has failed.

The only thing that I couldn't correct were the photos that looked like negatives. Every photo, even on the internet, on apps, everywhere! I just couldn't figure out how to fix it. I contacted Apple Care and its too difficult to get in touch with them. I had looked through support before but didn't put in the right question. Well, today I got lucky. I did the two things you suggested and turning the "White On Black" off did the trick. I'm so happy! I had a feeling it was something simple and this is not even in the manual!

If the reset doesn't do it then it's possible that the backlight or another part of your screen has broken. Unfortunately it's not really user servicible. I'd make an appointment at your local apple store and have them check it out. If your device is still under warranty and they don't determine that the damage was the result of 'abuse or neglect' (their words) then it could be a free replacement.
I'd just do a backup before you take it in, just in case. -
