  • IPod stuck on Accessorize Test

Can anyone help me with this issue? This morning, I touched my iPod and the ipod went into Accessorize Test and I cannot turn the iPod off or reset the iPod.

    Hello jawss,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
This morning, I touched my iPod and the ipod went into Accessorize Test
How in the world did that happen?
Anyways, by resetting the iPod, do you mean you are pressing and holding the Center and Menu buttons together until the Apple logo appears? Have you made sure the hold switch wasn't activated as well?
If you are unable to get any sort of response from your iPod, try letting the battery completely drain. Then hook it up to your computer and charge, and once it has enough juice for iTunes to pick it up, go ahead and Restore it there.

    Hi BellaVespaLady,
from your post I can see you were running the diagnostic mode of the iPod, the FireWire cable was plugled.
Simply reset the iPod holding 'Menu' + 'Action' key for for over 6 seconds.
    It should return to normal.
    I hope it helps.

  • Got Stuck in FW Test...!!! Help Me Please...!!

My IPod Classic 120gb got stuck on "Accessorize Test" please plug FW. LCD ID : 2, FWPWR: 0. I have no idea what to do. When I go to itunes it doesn't recognize that my ipod is pluged in. HELP PLEASE!!!!

    Hello there rajamanickam7,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
I feel that a reset is in order at this point. That should essentially reboot your device and get it going again.
    To reset your iPod:
    1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
    2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
    Tip:
If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.

  • Stuck in Diagnostic Test/Accessorize Test

I turned on my iPod video today and I received the "Diagnostic Test" screen. I didn't know how to take it off that screen. I looked around and I clicked on Accessorize Test. Now I'm permanently stuck on that screen. It will not turn off, reset or connect to my computer when I plug it in. The backlight will also not turn off. Help? This is what the screen looks like.

After numerous times of trying the "4 R's" (see tech support) it finally reset and is now working normally. I had it plugged in to the computer using the USB cable for about and hour and must have tried the reset at least 20 times when it finally worked. Yeah!

  • Need Help With Accessorize Test

My ipod is completely stuck on the accessorize test. The 5 R's thing doesn't work and I can't go to any other screen or turn it off. The screen says " Please plug FW ". I don't even know what "FW" is.

I am also frozen. Won't turn off stuck in a accessorize test mode, not even sure how I got here. Any help would be greatley appreciated.

  • Frozen on Accessorize Test

I have a 30GB iPod Video that I got for Mother's Day 2006. This morning my daughter went to use it and it was going through some type of diagnostics. Now it's stuck on a screen titled Accessorize Test. It's frozen solid. Can anyone help with this? Thank you.
    iPod Video 30GB

Did you get into that diagnostic screen on accident or were you trying to get there?
It goes into the diagnostic screen, if you are resetting the ipod and then hit center+rewind.
Most times this is done on accident, I would advise not running any of the tests as some can take up to 2 hours to complete.
If you get into this screen, resetting the ipod is your best option.

  • What the heck is Accessorize Test?

    Okay.
    something weird.
Something called Accessorize Test has occured to my Ipod. out of the blue, I turned it on, and it went to Accessorize Test.
I'm not sure how to fix this, I tried everything the help pages sugguest, but restarting doesn't do anything, nere do any other of the 5 R's.
it's on a screen that says:
    Please plug FW
    LCD ID : 2
    FWPWR : 0

    Hey @dg3,
Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum.
I see that you're curious about 'automatic servicing' when reviewing what looks to be a selection from a print quality issue article pertaining to your HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One printer.  I would like to help.
Allow me to answer your question as succinctly as I'm able: automatic servicing as a printer user's troubleshooting step is essentially doing nothing but allowing time, and other automated factors to intervene in resolving a print quality issue.  I'm sure that you have noticed that when you turn your printer on, it makes some startup sounds - these indicate that your printer is readying itself for the business of printing, ie. - the carriage is moving into place, the printheads are preparing themselves. Sometimes these automated functions can help resolve a printing issue.  Further, in the context of the article you're reading, sometimes the combined factors of time and powercycling your printer (turning off and on) will clear up minor print quality issues.
    Does this satisfy your curiosity?
Also, since you were reviewing content from a troubleshooting article, do you require any assistance with your printer beyond what you've posted?  Please respond to this post with details if you have any further questions or concerns.  I'm always happy to help fellow Forum users.
Thanks again for posting in the HP Support Forum and have a great day!

  • When turned on says Accessorize Test and is locked.  How can I unlock and use it?

when I turned my 30gb ipod on it says accessorize Test and is locked on this screen.  Any suggestions?

Reset the iPod. To do this, first make sure the hold switch is in the Off position, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
Somehow the iPod start up in diagnostic mode, but the reset should bring things back to normal.

  • HT1338 i cant get in to os system. the screen just stuck in white screen and apple logo

i can not get in to my os system. the screen just stuck in white screen and apple logo

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a boot failure is to secure your data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since your last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
         a. Boot into the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
    b. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    c. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to boot, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can boot now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
If you've booted from an external storage device, make sure that your internal boot volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
    Step 3
Boot in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you boot in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, your boot volume is damaged and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to step 5.
If you can boot and log in now, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the boot process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 4
Sometimes a boot failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 5
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select your startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then reboot as usual.
    Step 6
Reinstall the OS. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
    Step 7
Repeat step 6, but this time erase the boot volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer your data from a backup.
    Step 8
A dead logic-board battery in a Mac Pro can cause a gray screen at boot. Typically the boot failure will be preceded by loss of the startup disk and system clock settings. See the user manual for replacement instructions.
    Step 9
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.

  • My ipod 30GB reads---Accessorize test :( PLAESE HELP!!!!!!

PLEASE HELP ME! My ipodGB reads "accessorize test". below that it says "please plug FW, LCD ID:1, FWPWR:0" what do i do? i can not use it, or plug it into my computer...but the backlight stays on. i have tried to reset it many times. i also do not want to be charged to fix it . plaese help me, im lost without my ipod!

Interesting, the link you were given has a similar test within it but to get to it you have to reset and then when the apple logo appears hold down the centre and the rev buttons. When you do that the apple logo reverses and you get a list of tests as shown in the link you were given. I'm guessing you haven't done that?
I haven't ever seen a diagnostic test come up on screen without going into diagnostic mode but perhaps there is some simple test built in just to test accessories.
Usually with the other tests you just do whatever is asked and you get a pass or fail. You can usually exit by doing a reset where necessary or sometimes by pushing the menu button but you've probably tried that.
The other option is to do what it asks and see if you can exit by going through them.
"Please plug FW" means plug in a firewire cable, connected to something probably, so if you have one, plug it in.
LCD ID:1 simply means your screen is connected.
FWPWR:0 means that your ipod is not drawing power via a firewire connection.
If you plug in your firewire cable it should change to a 0.
It is possible that will be the end of it or alternatively you will get another screen asking you to plug in your usb cable and possibly your head phones and a remote.
Hopefully the remote test will be optional because you may not have one!
In these kind of tests a 0 means no or not present and a 1 means yes or working ok or connected.
Having written all this, probably the quickest way to find out how to stop it is to call Apple!
If you get a test for the click wheel you will need to scroll it around and around several times until it says pass or possibly in both directions.
You may get a "key test" which means just push all the buttons.
Good luck and interested to hear what happens.
    John
