my iPad doesn´t work, I already restarted it, the screen keeps turning on and off, and I can´t see anything or work on it, what else should I do?

First lets assume you battery is completely or almost completely drained.
Plug the iPad into the charger that came with it and plug that into a known good wall outlet. Leave it alone for at least an hour. Then, while it is still plugged in reset the iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. If the iPad starts and seems to be ok let it continue to Harte until the battery is fully charged.
If this doesn't solve the problem I suggest having an Apple technician take a look at your iPad. Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • My ipod nano 6 keeps turning off the music when i touch the sleep button

Hi my Ipod nano 6th keeps turning off the music when I touch the sleep/wake button.
    What should I do?

Your problem is that your iPod is not sensing that your headset is inserted. There is a pin inside the headphone port on the Nano that senses if it is inserted fully. If it does not sense anything, it will pause playback when the screen turns off to save battery power. Here are the solutions:
Insert it fully. This will fix it for most of you. Press that thing in there all the way. You should feel and hear a full click when it is fully seated. If you can see ANY silver of the headset jack, it is not fully inserted.
Debris inside the headset port. If you are totally unable to push the headset jack all the way, the most likely problem is that you have crud inside your headphone jack. Try blowing it out or slapping it against your palm with the headset port facing your palm to try and get the stuff out. If you look into he jack with a light, you should be able to see to the bottom. The entire inside of the headset port is white, so if it looks dark at the bottom, that is the crud that is keeping your nano from working.
Headset jack or plug issue. If you cannot solve the problem with 1 or 2, then there is likely something physically wrong with either the headset jack on your headphones or the headset port on the nano.

  • Satellite A20 - screen keeps turning white

So I am having a problem where my pc screen keeps turning white unless pressure is applied to the lower back part of the monitor. As I was typing this message the screen managed to stay normal by itself for a while, but then went back, so I am thinking there mya be some hope for it.
Any help will be useful, so thank you ahead of time.

    hi IBE876,
    what a nick ;-)
this sounds like having problems with the lcd.
to me it looks loke a faulty cable and / or a bad inverter.
you should not open the display cover until you know what you do and you have no more warranty on this machine...
this inverter is a dangerous thing! it produces high voltage for the lighttube.
if there is still warranty on this unit, better consult a servicepartner, he has also the right spareparts...
if you want to do it by yourself... keep in mind this could be dangerous!
make sure that no powersource is connected to your system and battery is taken out.
maybe it could be a detached cable...

  • Why does my Mac Mail programme keep turning on the SSL option?

For a couple of years now my wife's Mac Mail programme has from time to time stopped getting most of the emails sent to it for a week or more. I've wasted many hours on the phone to our service provider without ever getting to the bottom of the problem. Now I believe I know what's been happening. It seems that her Mail preferences keep turning on the SSL option without any human involvement. Apparently emails sent to an SSL selected email address will only make it into her in-box if they come from an SSL selected mail programme. Yesterday, scratching my head as to why, once again, few emails were getting through, I once again looked at the preferences and noticed that the SSL option, which I had recently unchecked, was once again checked. I unchecked it. It immediately re-checked itself. I unchecked it. It immediately re-checked itself. And so on, for ten minutes when, suddenly, it remained unchecked.
Why is this happening? My wife never, and I mean never fiddles with settings on her computer and nobody else uses it. The checking of the SSL option is being done entirely at the behest of the machine itself. Can anybody tell me how this could be happening? And could anybody tell me how I can stop it from happening again?

Back up all data. Don't continue unless you're sure you can restore from a backup, even if you're unable to log in.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click the following line to select it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -Rh $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Step 1 should give you usable permissions in your home folder. This step will restore special attributes set by OS X on some user folders to protect them from unintended deletion or renaming. You can skip this step if you don't consider that protection to be necessary, and if everything is working as expected after step 1.
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • My ipod touch screen keeps turning white

my ipod tuouch screen keeps turning white

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
If you can recover use of the iPod and it keeps ocuring try restoring to factory settings/new iPod.
    - If still not successful or it keeps recurring that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Just got the new iMac. The screen keeps jumping to the launch pad screen randomly when I am working in other applications.
I have the magic mouse, don't know whether it is something to do with that? Any ideas?

If gumsie's suggestion isn't the answer, try logging into another account, like Guest, and see if you get the same behavior. You may need to clean the windows on the bottom of the mouse.

This is your second post responding to an 1-year old question/problem.
    Please don't do this.
There are no other answers and like i said, the post is 1 year old, so @iesha21 won't read this anymore.
    Thanks.

  • Hi, I hope someone can help.... When I open a new user account, which I want to set parental control on, the screen keeps freezing once the account is open. The wee rainbow circle appears and I can't do anything. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks

Hi, I hope someone can help.... When I open a new user account, which I want to set parental control on, the screen keeps freezing once the account is open. The wee rainbow circle appears and I can't do anything. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks

Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
Report any errors it found for Disk Repair, don't need the ones for Permissions Repair.
Try it again & see if anything changed, but have Activity Monitor open & Show All Processes & sorted on CPU%, also have Console open if we can... maybe not when switching, but we'll see.
Does this happen if you just try to create a new admin user???

  • I have 3 PC's.  Two of them I use at 2 different locations and only use them 6 months a year.  So, if I have Icloud for my calendar, and turn on a computer that has not been used for 6 months, does all the old information on that computer to go Icloud?

I have 3 PC's.  Two of them I use at 2 different locations and only use them 6 months each year.  When I turn on a computer that has not been used for 6 months, does all of the old information from that computer end up in Icloud?  Does Icloud push all the new calendar and contact items over the old items?

A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off buttons for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons.
No content is affected by this procedure.

  • My imac screen keeps loading at the log in page

I cannot log in my account. The screen keeps loading at the log in page, even i try to reinstall the OS X. The imac cannot read the CD and keeps stay at the log in page. What is the problem?

This really is something to take up with a local Apple retail store or Premium re-seller.   They will examine it and quote you a repair or replacement price.   This is usually done without charge.  Without knowing exactly what is wrong a guestimate would be worthless to you.

  • HT1212 iPhone5, the screen is damaged, never synced to iTunes, locked screen, cannot turn off the device...

iPhone5, the screen is damaged, never synced to iTunes, locked screen, cannot turn off the device...

No. I would never take an iPhone to anyone other than Apple unless there was no alternative. You can get the display replaced on an iPhone 5 at most Apple stores for $149. If there's more damage, it will cost $229 for a full replacement. Both prices assuming you don't have AppleCare+.
As I said, taking it elsewhere forfeits your ability to ever get it serviced by Apple. Apple does not sell iPhone parts. There are no legitimate sources for iPhone parts. All the parts you will find are either salvaged from damaged phones or counterfeit.
If the phone is at all functional, you may be able to plug it into a computer and extract the photos and videos from the camera roll.

  • MiniDisplay to HDMI : How to turn off the Dual Monitor output when..

miniDisplay to HDMI : How to turn off the Dual Monitor output when the adapter is attached and the TV is off ? And will keeping the adapter connected even if it is not in use, cause damage to the adapter ?

I have my external monitor/tv setup of the left. If I leave the adapter attached with the TV off, I am still able to cross the border/boundry of my MBP screen ! As instead of detecting a TV, the MBP is detecting the adapter as a screen. I do not want to damage my thunderbolt/miniDisplay port by plugging and unpluggin the unit each and every time.

  • How to: Turn of the alarm clock after you've pressed snooze?

    Hello,
In the morning I like to use snooze once or twice and because there's a possibility of falling asleep again, I always use snooze instead of turning of the clock. However, when I do get up, I'd like to turn of the alarm and snooze, which I cannot find out how to do. I always have to wait for it to go of again, so I can turn it of.
I have found out that if you go to clock -> alarm clock feature, turn off and on again the alarm clock, it solves the issue, but the everyday clicking of that is frustrating.
Is there an faster easier way?
I also noticed there is a snooze countdown on the screen, but sliding it, does not turn it off.
    Thanks,
    Reg,
    MG
