My screen on my 24" iMac flickers as if the power is flickering.

My screen on my 24" iMac flickers as if the power is flickering then appears to be frozen and it only happens when I'm online. This is a new issue? Any reason why this may be happening? I'm running 10.5.8 and this has never happened until recent. Could my power strip be failing? I hope nothing is wrong with the computer itself. it's only 2.5 years old.

seems to only happen when I am charging my phone on it. I recently updated to a smartphone. Could that be the issue? Maybe not charge my phone with my computer? I hope someone can help.

After installing Mavericks my MacBook Pro and my MacMini can't shut down, only a grey screen and finish. Must be killed by the power button. Why?

same here...  sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't!!

  • My iPod screen wont let me get into apps and the power won't shut off

THe iPod screen can move like I can move apps but it won't let me get into ANY. apps not even settings the power wont shut off

    Try:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • My Ipad is just over a year old.  I just got a blue screen, then it shut down.  I pushed the power and screen buttons together and it came back, but then went down again and now I can't get it to power up.  Any suggestions.

Can anyone help with the blue screen I just got.  Tried to power back up like one Apple user suggested by holding the power and screen button together, came back briefly, then shut down.  Now nothing.  Any help?

Plug your device into the original charger & block in a wall outlet and leave it alone for a couple of hours. Then, while it is still plugged in, restart it by holding down the home button and the power button for 10-15 seconds until you see the Apple, then let go.

it happens every now and then! is there something wrong with my laptop?
I did the hardware test and there were no problems detected...can someone help?

  • My iphone 4 screen is messed up every time i hit the power button my screen lights up blue and all but i canstilll make calls

i hit the power button on top and my screen light i just cant see my background or swipe my phone to answer cause i can not see the screen

you can try turning it off and on again, but i doubt that's gonna work, that sounds like more of a hardware issue. Your best bet may be to contact apple and seek service or replacement

  • Black screen on brand new iMac 27?  I hit power, hear tone, a voice to assist with set up and no video...not even a flicker.

Bought 27 in iMac on 9/29, un-boxed and plugged in on 9/30.  Heard startup tones and voice to assist with set up, but never ANY video at all.  Not even a flicker.  Reset, unplugged, and powered off and on many times but same result...WTH Apple?!

  • I cannot put my iMac to sleep using the power button since the Mavericks upgrade.

As the title states, I can no longer put my computer to sleep using the power button. I have to put it to sleep using the mouse. I miss the convenience of the power button. The window for energy saver is not like the display in support, it is missing the "Allow the power button to put the computer to sleep" option. Very strange. I am running an older desktop (2009) with Mavericks, fully updated. 10.9.4

A workaround is to setup a keystroke in the System/Keyboard/Shortcuts preference pane to sleep the Mac.  Any function key or key combination will work.

    I have a
      Model Name:          MacBook Pro
      Model Identifier:          MacBookPro3,1
Processor Name:          Intel Core 2 Duo
      Processor Speed:          2.2 GHz
      2GB Ram
Could this be a hardware or software issue? Didn't hear any noises associated with the hard drive which I first suspected. Happens frequently now.

    regnoc,
I haven’t used DiskWarrior, so I can’t comment on its trustworthiness. You can purchase a replacement pair of grey installation DVDs for your MacBook Pro from either Apple or iFixit. One of those grey DVDs has your model’s Apple Hardware Test, and the other one has a bootable version of Mac OS X.

  • Start up screen distorted and unable to access the power slider bar

How do you force your phone to shut down - if the start up screen is so huge you can get to the power off slide bar?

Double tap the screen with 3 fingers to turn zoom off, drag three fingers to change the zoom. Then go into Settings>General>Accessibility and make sure that Zoom is turned off.

  • HT201412 My iPhone 5 keeps going black and then pops up the power down screen.  What is wrong?

My iPhone keeps going to a black screen while I'm using it and then the power down screen pops up.  I updated the phone last night, but still having the same issue.   What can be the problem and how do I fix it?

Try doing a reset on your iPhone,
Reset your iPhone by pressing the 'Sleep' and 'Home' button at the same time for about 15 seconds or so. Your iPhone will then go through a reset / reboot procedure and will be ready for use within about a minute.
Don't worry about doing this as you will not lose data or settings.
Good luck and do report back.

  • Refurbished iMac with OSx and the screen jumps/flickers about every 10 - 15 seconds.   Suggestions?  It often seems fine on start up .

I recently got a refurbed iMac with OSx adn the screen jumps/flicks every 10-15 seconcds.  suggestions?

If you purchased it from Apple, you are covered by the warranty - take advantage of it and call them as that appears to be a graphics issue.

  • How do I transfer data from an old Powerbook G4 w/non working screen to my 2008 iMac. I want to save my photo collection.

I have an old G4 Powerbook that has suddenly lost it's screen. It just flickers at times. I want to get the iPhoto data with lots of pictures out of the G4 and onto my 2008 iMac. I have no idea how to network these two and it is complicated by the loss of screen on the laptop. I know the laptop is up and running after I TURN IT ON BECAUSE WHEN THE SCREEN DOES IT'S FLICKER ON AND OFF BIT I CAN SEE THE DESK TOP. HOWEVER, THESE FLICKERS ARE SO BRIEF I CANNOT PERFORM any TASKS (woops) on the laptop. Help???

I will post my experience just in case someone else has this problem. John was right about the Firewire cable being the 800 9 pin job for both my PB G4 (2003 version) and my iMac (2008 version). Even though there was no screen to look at on the PB I was able to get into the target disk mode by first hooking up the firewire cable to my iMac and then the PB, then, holding down the "T" key on the PB I started it up. The iMac was already up and running.
It took several seconds but eventually a target disc icon for my PB showed up on the desktop of my iMac. Double clicking on the icon let me have access to all that was in the PB.
Sort of and here is where it got dicey. My PB and iMac do not run the same OSX versions, the PB being pretty old. Additionaly the cause of my concern was my wife's photos stored in some obscure location on the PB and using an old version of iPhoto which did not mesh at all with my iMac version.
After a bit of poking about and trying different work arounds I got lucky and a info box poped up saying that the data needed to be upgraded to be read by my newer version of iPhoto. Long storey short I went down this path and got everything transfered to the iMac. Just not sure how I got on that path, but I did.
