My screen saver is word of the day and doesn't  appear any word!

When i had snow leopard this works but now i have lion all updates check it now and doesn t appear any word.

Apparently, it's broken. If you want to report this issue to Apple's engineering, send a bug report or an enhancement request via its Bug Reporter system. To do this, register as an Apple Developer—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report or enhancement request. You'll get a response and a follow-up number; thus, starting a dialog with engineering.

My Ipad screen is blank except for the service and battery symbols. Any ideas how I can fix this please?

    Try restarting
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for phone to restart (no data will be lost).

uninstall anything cc that's already installed, clean (Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6) and the reinstall, Adobe: Creative, marketing, and document management solutions

  • My macbook air screen is black, the screen won't respond but the sound and brightness works fine - any solutions?

I treid letting it run flat, then charging it but it went back to the black screen. Sometimes the mouse icon can be seen and I can move it but it will vanish sometimes.

Could be a problem with the LCD or it's cable, this seems like a hardware fault. I would go to the Apple store before its to late and before you run out of warranty (you get a 1 year warranty) There no way of fixing this without opening the computer which would void the warranty. If you have ran out of warranty i would go on eBay and look for a inverter, the cable or possibly the LCD apple would be able to tell you what it is without you having warranty and try the repair yourself or you could pay Apples overpriced repair.

  • How to change the language in the word of the day screen saver?

Does anyone know how to actually get additional languages working with the Word of the Day screen saver in Mountain Lion?
I've got the other languages installed in the OS X dictionary app, but can't for the life of me figure out how to get this working for Word of the Day...

I don't think it's possible.  Ask Apple to add this feature via

  • Screen Saver - Apple - Word of the day - Switching to Spanish

    Hello,
There is an options button in
System Preferences -> Screen Saver -> Apple -> Word of the day
where I could choose from different dictionaries. I'm looking for basic Spanish, but it's not there. There must be a way to set it up that way. Any suggestion, please?

AFAIK, it selects dictionaries properly installed in /Library/Dictionaries/. So, you most likely have to install a Spanish one into there.

  • Word of the Day Screen Saver--Press "D" Key

I have been using the "word of the day" screen saver that comes stock with Yosemite (10.10.2). When active, it will scroll words across stopping randomly on words and then provide the definition. Ok, so far. But it will also display a message with the definition to the effect of, "Press D key to see more". What is the intended result of this? When I press "D" it simply wakes up and returns to the Desktop.

Word of the Day has a button to select the dictionary to be used - the New Oxford American Dictionary and a Japanese dictionary were available options as well as "Automatic".

  • Word of the day screen saver not working after upgrade?

anyone else having the word of the day/dictionary screen saver not pop up anymore after the upgrade?

Yes, precisely. The crash of "word of the day" cannot be related to the Lion upgrade. Some other issue must be at fault. And to clarify and be specific "Apple" did not say it was not supported but rather one person working in customer support said "word of the day" was not supported - and since some of us Lion users having the screen saver work and only just now failing, that one person at Apple seems to have made an error in guessing what the problem is. Why keep discussing this? Because "word of the day" is a useful screen saver in an educational setting and it is worth the effort to fix it and restore it as a screen saver option. Hoping there is a fix soon.

  • Word of the Day Screensaver locks up MBP

    Hi,
I am pretty sure it is limited to this screen saver, but when i leave my MBP for a few hours, I will come back to the Word of The Day screensaver (which is great btw) that appears to be frozen.
Mouse and keyboard are unresponsive, and the only way to get out is by holding down the power button for 10 seconds.
How do I fix this ?
I did the archive and install of Leopard from 10.4.10.

I haven't tried the wotd saver for that long - I turned it on, the word came up and it was "Documents" so I turned it off.... lol

  • Word-of-the-day screensaver: Pressing D does not launch Dictionary

I am in the process of setting up my new iMac 27" (running Mavericks 10.9.2), and wanted to use the Word of the Day screensaver. The screensaver launches just fine, after the set interval, but pressing D after having been presented with a word, only exits the screensaver, it doesn't launch dictionary as it does on my MBP (running mountain lion).
I have dictionary installed, and the app works just fine, The screen saver just can't launch it. The installation is pristine - I haven't installed anything on it besides the OS

I got it working. I used Time Machine to restore the Japanese Dictionaries I had deleted weeks ago. The one that worked was the Shogakukan Dijisen.dictionary. I did not need the other 2. All works well now.
Hey, how about that. Time Machine came in handy.

  • 'Word of the day' screensaver settings window crashes system preferences

It's not a crippling issue for me, but just annoying. 'Word of day' screensaver works fine on my G5 quad. Any ideas about fixing it on my macbook? - I repaired disk perms using leopard disc, rebuilt launch services db, and deleted screensavr prefs, all to NO avail..what could be wrong?

I hope this isn't too much of a tangent, but I'm also having difficulty with the Word of the Day screen saver.
The screen saver looks promising, but will only cycle through five words; Stopping and restarting the screen saver slightly alters the selection, but again only five words are selected. Is this the way the screen saver is supposed to work? Any suggestions for enlarging the sample from which the screen saver draws? (Like the entire dictionary, for instance)
IMO, if the screen saver only displays five words at a time, then the app is quite LAME.
    Any tips, pros?

  • Need Advice on How To / Recommended App. for Custom "Word of the Day" Screensaver

I really like the “Word of the Day” screensaver that comes with OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.  I would like to either 1.) customize this screensaver with my own dictionary OR 2.) identify an app that I could purchase / download which would allow me to create my own custom “Word of the Day” screensaver.
Does anyone have advice on how I can create a custom “Word of the Day” screensaver using my own dictionary?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you!
If you have time for just a couple more questions.  The ultimate goal is have my new flash files in a version (as3) so they can be used as android, html5 and iOs products.
So would the steps be these?
    Install cs6
Open SWF files that were created in as2
(I am assuming by doing this, all the assets will end up in the library which is currently not happening when I import the swf files into Flash CC)
So now I have the old swf files open in a version of flash that works in as2.
I understand that as2 is not fully convertible to as3.  But assuming I want to use the assets (graphics and audio) to recreate the animations in as3 can I then save the as2 file as as3 so it would then work with AIR?
    Thanks again?

What is "Adobe XI" - Reader, or Acrobat?
But either way, 'Save as Adobe PDF' is a Word function, independent of what Adobe software you have installed.

  • Last night I downloaded the latest Word update. Today the first Word document crashed and I lost 45 minutes of work in spite of having saved the document numerous times. Why is Word crashing the day after a safety update? I have Office 2008 for Mac

One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...
    /private/var/run/StartupItems
    /Library/StartupItems
    /System/Library/StartupItems
    /System/Library/LaunchDaemons
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
Open Console in Applications>Utilities, check the system log for the date/time of the last problem  & next startup for clues.

  • Word of the Day Screensaver -- using non-English dictionaries

As I'm studying German, I'd like to use an alternate dictionary with the "Word of the Day" screensaver. I've already installed the German dictionary, but it doesn't show up as an option.
Is there a way to do this?
As a side note, I'm disappointed with Apple in making it so hard to install custom dictionaries. OS X installs dozens of languages by default (which I don't want or need) but only the English and Chinese dictionaries.
Wouldn't it make sense to choose what languages one uses during installation and have everything for those languages installed automatically?

    I'm disappointed with Apple
