Try a #1 SMC Reset and see the Apple links, if that doesn't work make a appointment for a evaluation.

Unauthorized modification of iOS can cause security vulnerabilities, instability, shortened battery life, and other issues
Security vulnerabilities: Jailbreaking your device eliminates security layers designed to protect your personal information and your iOS device. With this security removed from your iOS device, hackers may steal your personal information, damage your device, attack your network, or introduce malware, spyware or viruses.
Inability to apply future software updates: Some unauthorized modifications have caused damage to iOS that is not repairable. This can result in the hacked iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch becoming permanently inoperable when a future Apple-supplied iOS update is installed.
... It is also important to note that unauthorized modification of iOS is a violation of the iOS end-user software license agreement and because of this, Apple may deny service for an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch that has installed any unauthorized software.

  • Satellite A200 screen stays black when trying to boot

    Hello everyone,
My Toshiba Satellite A200 notebook is not working anymore, so everything started when I was playing a game, suddenly, the screen turned blue with some tiny text written on it. I had to hold the power button a few seconds to close it because nothing was happening on the computer. I then pressed the power button to open it. Everthing was going well, until the welcome screen. At this part, it was written "Welcome" but the Vista loading circle left of it wasn't turning.
After a few seconds, I decided to close the computer again, so I did hold the power button so the computer closed. Here is the problem : I tried to reopen it, but the screen stayed black. Nothing was happening. The power light was blue, but not any computer activity. So I let it like that a few minutes then closed it and tried again, but the same thing happened. I tried to disassemble it and noticed one of the two memory card wasn't fully in its slot. I fixed it, but it didn't fix the problem.
I also tried to plug another screen on it, but that one was also black. So I put back the screen on its computer and tried to boot my laptop and it worked. It was booting, but the first problem came back, the Welcome screen was frooze there. So yes I did close it again and then the same thing happened, the screen stayed black.
I don't think the problem is the screen because as I said sometime it goes to the welcome screen. Also I don't hear any welcome sound when the screen stays black as if the computer would simply not start up. And as I said earlier, I don't see any computer activity on the little light in front of the computer. And left of this one, I clearly see that the computer is ON because the power light is blue.
So this is my problem, next time the computer manages to start up I'll try to boot it on the SAFE MODE, but until then, I don't know what to do. Please, help me.
    Thanks in advance,
    MrRoy
    EDIT :
After letting the computer turned off for about 30 minutes, I started it, and booted in safe mode. At this step, I securely closed my comptuer with the shut down button instead on holding the power button. Then I reopened my computer, and it booted and the problem was fixed. Now my notebook is openened and working.
So if this is happening to you :
    1. Shut down you computer.
    2. Wait for about 30 minutes.
    3. Boot in safe mode
    4. Shut it down using the shut down button istead off holding the power button.
    That should work.

Finally, it doesn't work. I don't know why but my computer did start up after the 30 minutes, but now it's not working anymore. It just won't startup like I said later, with a black screen.
The computer did work for about half an hour. I mean, I managed to start it up but after executing a program, it just froze and I had to hold the power button to restart it. I did it about 3 or 4 times, then it simply did the black screen again. I think the problem is my processor, maybe it's damaged or something, could it be possible?
Because I see that the processor isn't working when I try to start it up.
So let's say it's damaged, would that be the symptoms of my computer?
And if it's the processor, the only way to fix it is to send it to a reparator or something, because I don't feel like it, I'd rather do it myself.
But right now, my computer is simply not booting, like I said in my previous post.
    Thanks in advance,
    MrRoy

  • Macbook Air screen stayed black when coming out of sleep

I put my MBA on sleep earlier today. When I came back to wake it up, the screen stayed black (but somehow backlit). I had to close the top and open it back again in order to wake it properly. Anyone knows what happened? Should I worry about this? Maybe it's nothing and I'm overreacting, but I had so many issues with my last laptop (not an Apple product though) that I kinda became crazy about my computers.
My Macbook Air is two weeks old. It's a 11 inches running Maverick 10.9.5 and every software is updated.
    Thanks!

Having something like that happen just once is no reason to be concerned. I’ve seen it happen - it isn’t common and it doesn’t necessarily mean anything is wrong. Being hyper sensitive about a new computer is normal, especially after experiencing the kind of disaster it sounds like you did with your previous computer.

  • Screen stays black when I turn my iBook on, no response. HELP

I really hope someone can help me with this cause the laptop in question belongs to someone else and I'll be in a tough spot if I don't fix this...
So I've been borrowing this G4 iBook. I've installed some software, including some "whois" programs from the internet. I've also been downloading torrents via Transmission. Anyway, this is what happened:
I was downloading a torrent, and I had Safari open. I began to transfer a movie to the Apple-TV system I have when things started running slowly--so I went to the energy savings panel and optimized the processor for highest performance. Things kept running slowly so I began to quit programs. Finally I had only the Apple-TV transfer open but the Finder wasn't responding (rainbow wheel).
I tried to relaunch the Finder by force-quitting but no response. I then tried to restart, no response. So finally I held down the power button to shut the computer off. Now when I turn it on I hear the start up sound but the screen remains black. I think the keys are unresponsive too cause I tried pressing the power button and pressing 'return' to see if it would restart or shutdown. Nothing. I mentioned that I've been downloading some software and torrents for the off-chance that I have a virus. I have a Norton Antivirus CD if I need it. I don't know what to do though.
I'd really appreciate some help here. It would save me the embarrassment of having to take the laptop to get repaired.

Very Important, how much Free Space is on your Hard Drive first of all? Click on the Macintosh HD on the Desktop, then do a Get Info on it.
    See if this works...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

  • Screen stays black when switching on?

  • ML: Screen stays black when moving mouse and screen protector kicks in

This is the second time that this happens to me.
    Setup:
    MBP 5.4
    2 monitors (extended)
    ML 10.8.2 updated to date
Screen saver kicks in after X minutes
Require password after Y seconds after sleep / screen saver
I have set my protector screen to kick in after 10 minutes of inactivity and to turn the monitor off after 30 minutes. Normally, that isn't a problem but today I just happen to move the mouse (trackpad) when the protector screen kicked in, at exactly the same moment.
The expected behaviour would be that it would go back immediately to my "normal" screen, but instead the screen was just black, I could only see the mouse moving from one side to another. Any key sequence didn't help either. Waiting 5 seconds and than moving the mouse / pressing keys didn't help either. I finally had to hard-reboot the machine. (Pressing power button until it did go out, than boot it as normally).
What I didn't test was to press alt+cmd+eject key to force sleep (and then wake it again), but either way it should have gone back to my desktop instead of showing just a black screen without it doing anything else.
I'll be happy to cooperate if you need more information regarding on reproducing this problem.
    Greetings.

  • Why does my macbook pro screen stay black when i open it

This is an intermittent problem, it doesn't happen all the time.  I just wanted to know if I need to have my computer serviced or if I could correct it.

See this Apple note on starting the system with no video, which may help trouble shoot it.
I'd also run the Apple hardware test (run the extended test) to see if it picks up any hardware error.

  • My macbook pro screen went black and won't display back to the normal screen. When I turn it on I can hear the computer starting up and the keyboard light turn on but the screen stays black. What can I do? Help please!

Please help! I can't get my screen to turn back on. It just stays black when I turn it on. Is there anything I can do to reboot it or am I just out of luck
    Thanks!

Did you buy the Applecare extended warranty? If not then you will need to pay for whatever repairs need to be done.
You will need to take the system to an Apple store Genius Bar for a check up.

    I've been experiencing problems intermittently after shutting my TouchSmart 300 PC down. For the past few days when trying to turn it on ; the screen stayed black!  I could hear the fan start rapid then slow down, I can see the green internal light blinking inside and lights on the outside of the computer but still nothing on the screen!  I've tried plugging it into different outlets around the house was successful with one, but then, came the error message;
Page fault in nonpaged area. Today I tried to turn it on and I got the same thing described above. The computer's operating system is Windows 7 64-bit, purchased Feb. of last year and is refurbished.

    Hi
You have a couple of options as I see it please run the Hard drive and Memory test check if both off then passes if any fails then you need to replace the part. If test passes you could try The F11 option to do system restore Or to do a recovery on the unit before doing recovery kindly back up data as it will be lost web link given below this will help you to let you know how to do the steps.

  • IMac from 2010: sometimes the screen stays black, only restoring from backup helps.

    hello there dear community,
i have been a great fan of my imac and macbook eversince i first got them. but recently - probably since maverick - i am experiencing a series of problems with my 2010 27" imac. let me be more precise: eversince i got maverick, my imac keeps asking me to update every other day. usually i'm doing this or waiting for a couple of days. it's been exactly three times now that when my imac asked me to update and i postponed it that troubles occured. every single time i am not able to switch from sleep mode into the regular one. the screen stays black and the cursor is visible (and moveable). also i can clearly hear that the computer is on and working. the screen is black, but not in a mat kind of black but as if there was light behind it (i.e. the screen is switched on).
when this happened first, i called the apple support and we tried a lot of things and spoke for more than an hour. the only solution that worked out was pulling the plug, waiting, putting it back, restart the computer with cmd+r pressed and then restore the system from a backup that i had saved on an external drive. this of course takes time, usually up to four hours, but yes - it works. and i am very glad that there is a solution at all to this mess - but it's very idle.
now my question: there must be another way? or even better: how do i avoid that my imac falls to a sleep from which it can't really awake?
thank you for your patience and thank you for your help!
    cheers
