  • My MacBook screen is dark blue with the ball of doom what do I do.

I was using my MacBook Pro 4GB RAM using 10.5.7 (OSX) and it suddenly froze. Scared, I force shut it down by pressing the button in the top right corner of the lower part of the MacBook Pro. It did not seem to be doing anything so I closed the screen. A few minutes later I opened it back up and the screen turned a light blue then dark blue. There was also the loading ball of doom. I could not move the loading ball. Whenever I try to close the screen the light on the side of the Mac facing towards you is off. But when the dark blue screen is on its off as well. I am really confused I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

  • HT201263 i tried the "unable to update and restore" for my ipod but it wont stay off when i try to turn it off with the sleep/ home button. what else can i do?

my ipod touch 4th gen wont turn off and just keeps showing the apple logo. i tried to do the recovery mode stuff on it but it dosent shut off it just keeps restarting. i dont know what else to do. help?

Let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try the recovery and DFU mode again.
If still problem that indicates a hardware problem.

  • I just loaded the 8.1 operating system on my iPad.  It has been sitting for about 4 hours with the black screen and white apple with the bar underneath.  What should I do?

I am having trouble after loading the 8.1 operating system on my ipad.
My iPad is model A1397 EMC 2424
    MEID ********
    Serial DL******JHH
    64GB
I started loading 8.1 about 5 hours ago and it is still sitting with the black screen with the progress bar underneath.  It shows that it is almost done loading - just has a tiny bit of the progress bar left.

I Don't know if this will work for anyone else but just FYI - after loading 8.1 on my iPad it froze for several hours on the black screen with white Apple and progress bar underneath. It would not do anything.  I thought I was doomed.  I accidentay left it sitting overnight without plugging it Back into the charger. I meant to but got sidetracked and thought it was plugged in. During the night the battery was totally drained so this morning my iPad was dead. I plugged it into the charger and after a few minutes the battery icon came up showing it was charging. I gave it about 30 minutes and then turned it on and the new operating system came up. It looks like it might be ok now.  I can't say I recommend this, but it worked for me.

  • When I type in my password into the login screen I get the rainbow pinwheel and then the screen turns gray and goes back to account selection... How do I access my account?

Today I was doing my chemistry homework when all of a sudden my mid 2011 MacBook pro running Lion 10.7.4 started going very very VERY slowly to a point where it was unusable. I restarted my computer and went to type in my password. When I did this, the computer recognized the password and began to boot yet the pinwheel came on and the screen turned gray and went back to the account selection screen. It continues to do this everytime I enter my password and I can no longer access my account. How do I fix this.

You can take some of the steps here, #4, #5 or even trying a #18
Step by Step to fix your Mac
but I suspect your going to first have to create a data recovery drive
Create a data recovery, undelete boot drive
to get your data off the machine,
then do a #20 to eliminate the bad sectors as that's why your getting the "pinwheel" it's getting a delay reading from the drive, right when your trying to log in too, what a bad spot for it to happen.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Upon updating my ipod touch to iOS 6.1.3, the screen turned gray and would not let me do anything, and now the screen is blue?

I was updating my ipod and after it finished the screen turned gray, then blue and now has just recently
turned white, what do I do?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • HT4623 I updated my mini, but some of my apps are no longer available. One of them I purchased from the Apple store.  They are grayed out with the word "waiting" underneath the app.  Any suggestions?

I updated my mini, but some of my apps are no longer available. One of them I purchased from the Apple store.  They are grayed out with the word "waiting" underneath the app.  Any suggestions?

If there are multiple apps trying to download at once, only one can download at a time and the rest say "Waiting" until it is then their turn. Try this. Double tap the icon of the Waiting app, and it should resume the download.

Another thing to try - Turn the iPad Off & then back ON.
    If that doesn't work:
    •  Log out of your iTunes store account.  Go to Settings > Store > Sign Out Then press the Home button.
    • Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously and don't release them when it brings up the Turn Off screen; keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.
    • After restart, the Waiting should be gone.

  • Screen turns gray, reboot only option A215-S7444, random event

screen turns gray, nothing recovers it but turn off, back on, anything working on is lost
has happened a lot when leaving unattended (not put to sleep), come back to gray screen.
has happened playing game (not on internet) that have had for years, also has happened playing game on internet
has happened today, watching weather channel video
I have run every virus, malware, spyware, etc. scan, removed anything questionable
Windows Vista, 2 1/2 yrs old, just started acting up about 3 months ago, frequency increasing
note: I have suspected since I got this that it runs warmer than I thought it should, I keep it on desk on one of those little fan boards, always plugged in (due to lousy battery life, a common problem I read). No idea if this is really an issue.  I am not a geek, but not totally ignorant about pcs.
Had other recent, hopefully unrelated problem - had pc password protected. Suddenly it said my password invalid. Toshiba tech wanted me to reload factory disc, not willing to do that, working with friend, we decided my keyboard was locked up, got to online keyboard from main screen ease of access, played with fn and various f keys, got in.  Not sure how we got in, but I no longer password protect. (password same since Oct 07)

@jck & @awaller well not literally every other time, it occurs randomly. sometimes I can work for like an hour or as long as I want and nothing happens, sometimes after 5 minutes *boom* the screen goes black, except of one column with random pixels, i tried to switch to a different console with ctrl+alt+(F1-F6) but it did not work...
do you know where I have to look for errors? I also tried to reinstall the drivers, but it did not help..
I see something like this on my T420 Thinkpad sometimes. It turns out the backlight is just going out. I'm reluctant to say it's a kernel issue and not hardware - I have vague memories of it happening on Windows 7 as well, but that was years ago ...
It happens on Arch and Debian definitely, and the following fix works on both for me:
Opening a terminal (which I have bound to a key) and running "xset dpms force off", then moving the mouse or something to wake the display again brings it back to light.
Try that the next time it happens and see if it helps. Will at least confirm whether it's the same issue as me or not.

  • Screen turns gray when I load my Satellite L300.

    Hello,
For some time, I am facing a problem with my toshiba satellite L300.
Indeed, *when I charge my laptop while I work, after 5 minutes maximum, the screen turns gray preventing me from working while the computer laptop is charging. By cons, in safe mode, I do not encounter this problem.*
Please, could someoene help me find a solution to this problem?
    sincerely,

    Hi
To be honest Im little bit confused and I dont understand exactly what do you mean by
the screen turns gray preventing me from working while the computer laptop is charging.
Do you mean the battery charging?
What happens if the notebook is not connected to AC adaptor?
Did you try to recover the notebook using HDD recovery or Recovery disk in order to test if this issue would appear using the notebook with factory settings?

  • How to fill the whole screen of my iMac with the photos included in an iDVD project. (iDVD v. 7.1.2)

How to fill the whole screen of my iMac with the photos I included in an iDVD project. (iDVD v. 7.1.2). I mean, during playing the burned dvd.
When I do "Enter Full Screen", the slide show fills the screen but the photo itself remains in the middle with a wide black border filling the rest.
    Any cure for this ?

    Hi
In iDVD Preferences - Turn off - TV-Safe area - and the Photos will fill the full area with just letterboxing or pillars as max.
Then "Save as a DiskImage" and test this and see if this plays better - before burning DVDs that's not as You want them.

  • Why does my macbook pro 13'' mid 2010 screen turns gray and freezes while connected to external monitor?

Every once in a while my macbook pro just randomly instantaneously freezes and the screen turns gray and it has only done it while connected to a high res 22'' Dell external monitor (so far). Usually when this happens I'm listening to music and I noticed my music continues to play but the keyboard is totally unresponsive forcing me to manually press the start button until the computer force shut's down. Luckily I havnt lost anything yet but I hate having to restart my macbook pro that way...just want to know if its a glitch in the software or if I have a more serious hardware problem. This problem has occured maybe 4 times since I got my macbook last summer 2010 so its not too bad, im just worried cause these computers aint cheap.

    Duquan,
Macs can be picky about the RAM which they use; the “Your computer restarted because of a problem” message typically indicates a RAM problem. Since you have a Mid 2009 model, it should have 1066 MHz RAM installed rather than 1333 MHz RAM. If your RAM was mislabeled, then that might cast some doubt upon the quality control which that RAM manufacturer uses. My suggestion would be to purchase 1066 MHz RAM from a reputable manufacturer.

I was trying to update my Ipad to IOS 8, the screen is all black with the apple logo on it and the progress bar is stuck.
I can't turn it off, and when i connect it to itunes, it doesn't display

Try putting the iPad in restore mode and see if iTunes recognizes it. The steps are below:
    Turn your iPad off.
Hold down the Home button and plug it into your computer. Keep holding the Home button until you see a screen telling you to connect to iTunes.
iTunes should show you a popup saying that there is an iPad that is in Recovery Mode and needs to be restored before you can use it. Click OK.
    Click on Restore iPad

  • My iPhone 5 is charging but wont turn on even with the hard reset and restore. Keeps showing low battery. HELP PLEASE

My iPhone 5 shows it's charging but wont turn on even with the hard reset and restore. Just keeps showing low battery. HELP PLEASE
I usually sleep with my phone on charge through the night and I haven't had any problem since, I left my iphone 5 charging last night and in the morning it stated 100% charged so I decided to turn the power off normally (Hold the hold button till it says slide to turn power off) I turned it off and suddenly my iphone went straight to low battery. Although I have been having weird battery percentage changes for example it would stay on 1 % for an hour or so or drain really quickly.
I have restored it as i thought was the thing to do all it's doing it restoring and still stating low battery and I have charged it for hours +. I can't hard reset it nor restore it NEED HELP PLEASE.
