My screen will dim and will not come back to full power until a reboot. It also has what looks like 7 spotlights at the bottom.

You have a hardware problem. The screen, cable or GPU is failing. Take it to an Apple store to be properly diagnosed and an estimate on the cost of repairs.

Have a Pavillion dv6 for my teenage daughter. We got it late December of 2011, so it's less than a year old. On August 22, 2012, I just got it back from being repaired because the screen went black and would not come back on no matter what we did. It came back with a teeny, tiny little black line way down at the bottom of the screen, didn't seem like a big enough problem to worry about so we kept it and she used it. Last night when she went to bed it was working fine, today when she turned it on after getting home from school, the whole screen is a disaster---it looks like a big diagonal crack is running up the screen and it's a solid strip of color on one side and then lines and then the crack then you can see where the sign on logo is trying to run---kind of---rolling up the tiny part of the screen it is showing on. Called customer support, which was a complete nightmare! I used the first number that came up for hpsupport on google and it was iyogi-----could barely understand the woman on the other end, she kept having me tell her the problem over and over and over and over and telling her my name and phone number and email address and the serial number and the product number, over and over and over and over and over and over-----this went on forever---then she had me try pressing the f10 key and the power button and it gave 13 beeps and would go off, she had me put the phone up so she could hear that happen 6 times. Then finally she says it;s a hardware problem and she will transfer me over to harware support after trying to sell me software protection that I don't want. She transfers me, I get an automated system and damned if I don't get rolled right back to the same Indian woman and she starts me from scratch like she hadn't just talked to me 4 minutes before that-----I was furious! I told her I had already been on the phone with her and told her all this information and she still had me give it to her 3 more times then said she would put me through to hardware support. I spent 1 hour and 25 minutes on the phone total and almost all of it was with this woman that had no clue and barely spoke English. Why? I live in the USA, I bought the product in the USA, why can't I speak to customer support in the USA? Why do I always have to talk to someone that I have a language barrier with? Why do they always make me do the same thing over and over and over and keep me on the phone over an hour? It was the same way in August when it needed repaired, I was on the phone that night 1 hour and 10 minutes. Is the goal to get you to just forget it and go buy a new one?

Have most recent macbook pro connected to thunderbolt via thunderbolt cable. Occasionally when I close my laptop the thunderbolt display goes black and does not come back on---even in response to keyboard. Help

It sounds like you are trying to use your MacBook Pro with a Thunderbolt Display in closed clamshell mode (MacBook Pro closed), but sometimes the display doesn't stay on. I found an article that talks about closed clamshell mode. You would have to fulfill the following requirements to use your display this way:
Requirements for closed display mode:
Power adapter
External keyboard, mouse, or trackpad
External display

my ipad screen is black and will not reset and does not come back after restoring, the info is still on internal because i can see it on itunes in the apps catagory it's the display is not working, can see backlight but black...does anyone know how to fix, other than take it to apple.
thanks!The wish list only works on apps you have to pay for. To get it tap the icon of the app you want to save. After it opens at the upper right corner is a box with a arrow. Tap that then tap add to wish list list in the box that opens.

If the battery was empty (and it may then take 10 to 15 minutes of charging before it will respond), then have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.

Whenever I try to rent a movie, Apple TV buffers and does not come back. I am able to see other programs, but not able to rent movies. And the movie charge still goes on my bill.
Apple TV uses iTunes. The reason you can't rent through your ATV is because you can't rent movies through iTunes Canada. Sadly, as this is a user-to-user forum, no one here would know when or if rentals will come to Canada.

Mary C.Thanks for your help. I think the problem was that I was new to using a mac. I was accidently moving the mouse to the top left corner and that sent the screen to a screen saver, but then I would instantly move the mouse away and that would bring back my desktop.
My mac also gets hot in the middle at the back and then a fan comes on to cool it down. It is a nice quiet fan so that is good. The heat feels good on my legs and actually keeps me warm. What a nice mac that keeps me warm! The other night the electricity went out in my hotel room during a big storm and the strobe light on the front of my mac served as a nice night light and flash light to get around the room. I love my mac!

Go into Sys. Pref , and power settings and UNcheck "put hard disks to sleep" on both power tab and battery tab.
When on projector use with your Air and a presentation, dont close the monitor or sleep your Air.
Verify any coincident applications running that can/could conflict with projector / sleep occurrence by running Etrecheck:

CQ62-215DX hybernates upon closing notebook and does not come back on after opening screen again
My CQ62-125DX Product WQ5856UA#ABA shut down when book was closed in the on position. The screen remains black athough Cap lock light s intermitent. I shut down to reboot, and system sounds and acts as if t was coing o, but screen never lights up.
This happened only after the laptop screen was closed and reopened. after giving up I decided to press the power button three week later, and it came on, but thinking all was Ok after a couple of days, again I closed the laptop and screen will not come back on upon opening. It seems to gointo hybernate mode, but will not wake up again. If it happens to come on again I will go in and shut off the energy saving featues, so it does not go into hybernatiion, but mean while...... What fix do you have for this issue. I'm not doing anythingut of the ordinary, I look online, and see that many people experience these symptoms. Have you looked into this and figured how to solve this glitch?? I don't know whether it makes a difference and whether they are technically the same, but I upgraded the firmware that was released 07/10/2008 that is from Apple's Servers from version 5A345 to 5A347 just to see if this fixed any last minute glitches.
I hope this problem never surfaces again. We all paid a lot for these and spent a lot of time waiting for activation. -
Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter 1.03 - screen goes black and won't come back
I have a new Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter to allow my original Apple 30" Cinema Display to connect to the new Mac Pro. Shipped straight from Apple, it is firmware version 1.03. I've never had flickering issues as so commonly described, but the display will often go black (possibly after a screen power save) and not come back. when this happens I am still able to connect to and use the Mac via remote connection. But the only way to get the screen back is either to unplug the adapter and plug it back in to the Mac, or to shut down and power up the Mac. Is anyone else seeing this issue?

The sleepimage file still reappears even if never slept. Delete it (hibernate off, etc) - within minutes its back.

Ideapad K1 shuts off and does not come back on unless hard reset by battery disconnect
For some reason, once in a while, my Ideapad K1 will shut off and will require the battery be manually disconnected and reconnected to come back on again. The light will not show charging when plugged in as well when it shuts off.
I am on the lenovo latest factory update.
This is quite annoying as it is difficult to remove the rear panel and put it back on to disconnect the battery.
Is there any kind of fix/patch/update that resovles this issue?
Are there any work arounds that are less of a hassle?Try to set it up as new device, this time without using the latest backup. If this does not work, contact Apple to get it checked.

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
