My search item is not working for blocks created manually

Question

I got a form where in i got aroun 8 rows where in 7 have been created using a Datablock wizard and the one row manaully i.e i have written a query under POST-QUERY2 fetch records into this 8th row that has been created manually...
All these 7 rows are creates using the wizard and the 8th rows is created manually
IN the main form i have included a list item which has the name of all 8 rows and beside it i have got a text item so that the corresponding list item value can be search
under PRE_QUERY i have written this
if
control.search_list_item ='Name'
then
:blockname.width := :control.search_text
end if;
if control.search_list_item='client'
then
:blockname.CL := :control.search_text
end if;
i can view the info for the 7 rows but not when control.search_list_item='client' as this has been creates manually....
in order to over come this problem i modified this a bit like this
if control.search_list_item='client'
then
select client into :blockname.CL from PIPE where client='control.search_text'
end if;
because using the abv query i am able to view arounf 40 records in the SQL but when i run form i get error like PRE-QERY raised unhandled exception ....

Please try to change to:
if
  control.search_list_item='client'
then
  select client into :blockname.CL from PIPE where client = :control.search_text;
end if;and please add an exception handler to the trigger
