My security software controls the license verifications, firefox refuses to acknowledge this.

I am running BitDefender Total Security 2012, it manages all the licensing and verification for websites. BitDefender has a root kit that it keeps trying to give to firefox to show that the site has already been verified by BitDefender, but firefox will not accept it. Any website that requires a user name and password, including gmail, facebook, and websites for my school (I am an IT student at the local community college) firefox refuses to load it saying that it can't verify the site when BitDefender already verified it. Instead of loading the page it just shows the box with the yellow man holding a flag. How do I make FireFox comply?

APO Security to control the users access

Hi,
Is there any possibility to control the users access by controlling through selection ID's or does it possible through any of the product lines (Characteristics)?
My requirement is I have to control all the APO DP users in various levels of Product lines and the access has to be granted at specific product level. Right now I am trying do through selection ids, but I am looking for more effective way.
Please help me with your views.

Hi Jegan,
There are so many security objects in DP that you can try out and see if they meet your requirement.
The way I understand your issue is to restrict user by certain products or BW characteristics.
To control by Products, try the object C_APO_PROD with activity APO_PROD (Product Identifier). You can select specific products here for each role and restrict by either display, change, execute, delete etc.
If you want to restrict by BI characteristics, try object S_RS_AUTH.
Be careful with this as you are selecting BI objects, the system restricts them even if they are remote part of your work.
If you have to restrict by specific product levels like all product lines, I am not sure how to do it but you can certainly try searching based on keyword "PROD".

HP Client Security software preventing the upgrade to Windows 8.1 on my Elitepad 900.

When I tried to upgrade my Elitepad 900 to Windows 8.1 I get a message that the HP ProtectTools Security Manager must be uninstalled before proceeding. I'm then prompted to uninstall the Device Access Manager for HP ProtectTools and Drive Encryption for HP ProtectTools. I never bothered to initiate any of this software when I got my Elitepad 900 and now I'm not sure if it's safe to remove it and proceed with the Windows 8.1 upgrade? Hopefully someone here can help me out with this.

This worked for me after 7 attempts with all kind of solutions on different forums. HP Envy 15 Notebook - Intel HD 4000, Nvidia 740
Locate the F11 key and start tapping it as soon as you turn on the system.
Stop tapping once you reach the recovery manager screen.
Click Troubleshoot .
On the Troubleshoot screen, click Recovery Manager .
On the OS selection screen, click Windows 8 . Recovery Manager opens.
Under I need immediate help , click Minimized Image Recovery .
When Recovery Manager prompts you to back up your files, select a backup option.
If you have already backed up personal files or you do not want to back up personal files, select Recover without backing up your files , then click Next . Continue to the next step.
Follow the on screen options and complete the system recovery.
After the system recovery is complete, click Finish to restart the computer. Complete the setup screens and wait until the computer finishes the setup
-Then, make sure to install all updates via Windows Update. Do NOT install any drivers for graphics etc.
-I did NOT do any updates with HP Assistant
-Run the update via Wired network, disable WiFi and Bluetooth
-I did disable all things in Autostart. Could be reached via Win8 taskmanager
-Ran Microsoft Compability checker
Update went fine this time.
Some of my steps might not be needed. And of course if MS compbility checker says a driver is not compatible you will have to update it.
Hopefully it will get you there.

Everytime i open the firefox it shows me error "The proxy server is refusing connections" for this everytime i have to manually select the auto detect. I

First of all are you using any proxy for internet access. If you do nat have a proxy, try to change the settings to No proxy.

Firefox keeps asking me to update however when I check the updates compatability I find that it wont work with my security software [avg free] being reluctant to leave my computer open to attack I am not updating until this problem is resolved

Often when trying to add new program software I am told to close Firefox and use Internet Explorer.
What I would really like to know is if Firefox recommends any particular security software that works well with Firefox?

Mozilla has no recommendations about particular brands of security software, but I recommend [http://www.free-av.com/ Avira AntiVir Personal], which is "free for personal use". The free version of Avast is a close second choice, but I don't really recommend it any longer due it wanting to install a questionable Toolbar extension for Firefox that I don't think is needed. ''Avira tried that a few days ago, but due to outraged users complaining about the toolbar wanting to install itself into Firefox, Avira reversed course and eliminated that "feature" in little over 24 hours after it was introduced. I have never before seen such a quick response to user complaints / concerns by any other software company.''
As far as a security program defaulting to IE, that is probably because IE is part of the Windows Operating System and every Windows user has that program installed. 
Avira does use the "default browser" that ''you'' have set in Windows, so that's one more positive mark for Avira, IMO.

My standard spiel on malware:
At this time there have been no confirmed Mac OS X viruses (subject to the semantic debate about whether the old iChat exploit, now long since blocked, was properly classified as a virus or a trojan horse, and not counting the Word macro virus that can affect Office v.X or non-updated copies of Office 2004), very few trojans and no adware or spyware. I therefore do not feel that antivirus or antispyware software is necessary at this time as long as users are careful about what they download from the Internet or accept as attachments via email.
The most common exploit is a recent outbreak of "scareware" that people are encountering while web surfing. This "scareware" pops up and claims that your system is infected with viruses, prompts you to download their "scanner", then tells you that you need to purchase their paid software to remove them. These fake applications, appearing by many names including Mac Defender, Apple Security Center, Apple Web Security, and many others, do nothing at all other than turn off the fake warnings once they have your money. DO NOT fall for these.
Security precautions for Mac OS X mostly are common sense: don't download and run files from sites you don't know, don't fall for any "you have viruses" messages, don't double-click on attachments in emails you aren't expecting and/or from people you don't know, and make sure you password your system with a non-trivial password and keep that password secure. In addition, don't leave your system available in a public place and unattended where someone unauthorized could use it and potentially install malware (such a policy is also a precaution against theft).
It is possible for a Mac user to inadvertently forward a Windows virus to a PC user though you'd have to do it manually so the above precautions would probably prevent such virus-spreading, and said Windows virus cannot infect the Mac.
If you do decide you wish to run antivirus software, I think that the donationware clamXav should be more than enough. iAntivirus has also been recommended by others, though I have no personal experience with it.
If you are running Windows on your system, either via BootCamp, Parallels Workstation or another solution, then that copy of Windows is subject to all the myriad exploits common to the Windows world, so you need to take full precautions, including running both antivirus and antispyware software.

A simple search of the forums for the actual error would have revealed the resolution.
Temporarily disable all security software on the computer.
