My serial number wont work when reinstalling the software.

I recently reinstalled Ai CS3 and my serial number is not working.
Anyone have an idea as to why?

Updates do not require serial numbers. If you are trying to upgrade from, say, Final Cut v6 to Final Cut v7, yes, that will require your previous serial.
Pretend we are not able to see what you're doing. Explain it to us carefully.

Thanks for replying, Jim. I wasn't planning to use it for raw images. I shoot film, black and white, and have many negatives I want to print. I am unfamiliar with the upgrades in Lightroom. I wasn't unhappy with the version I have. It was useful for my purposes.
Because it was a few years ago, I don't remember if I registered the product. I was able to login to my account. But could not find a path to communicate with Adobe. I will keep trying.

I purchased Design Standard CS6 the entire package. I downloaded and installed but I was continually having problems with Adobe Acrobat Pro. I tried updating to the newest version but it only made the problems worse (acrobat was super slow and constantly not responding). So i decided to try to uninstall and then reinstall the program. Well I uninstalled, and then attempted to reinstall ONLY the adobe acrobat pro but it says my serial number (which is for design standard) will not work. Since Acrobat Pro is included in the suite, i thought this wouldnt be a problem. Is there anyway to get around this without uninstalling the entire design standard and reinstalling everything? I only need to reinstall acrobat pro.

You need to reinstall Acrobat the the Creative Suite, you cannot download it is a separate application and install it that way because it will be looking for a serial number relative to being a singly purchased application.

CS4 Acrobat Serial number not working on reinstall (new Mac)

I'm using Acrobat as part of CS4. It was a gift from a fellow creative friend. The install worked back in 2009 on my previous Mac. For some reason, the serial number no longer works when I go to run Acrobat. It's been rejecting the serial number on the CS4 package for months, now.

I bought a secondhand macbook of ebay and they said CS5 was installed on it. When it arrived it had CS6 installed but ony trial version.
The serial code they gave me does not work. I downloaded CS5 and tried to use the serial code on that with no success!!
Any ideas please???

As they say, you have probably been had... It's most likely simply a pirated version. Nobody gives away software that even today has an intrinsic value (since it is eligible for a CS6 upgrade) for "free" - unless it was part of the deal, of course. For anything else this would apply:

I have the Master Collection CS5 and bought the Dreamweaver 5.5 upgrade. But when I try to enter my CS5 number it say it is not valid for this product. Is there some way to determine what the Dreamweaver standalone S# is? I don't see any documentation on it.

That is just the normal behaviour that your experienceing since on the dropdown list at the time it is asking your to select the product you upgraded from you will not find master collection CS5 on the list. Upgrade from suite product to point product is actually an invalid upgrade path however you may contact customer service and see what option they can provide you.

Ok...I have been working with it for over an hour. I already did every single thing humanly possible to fix the problem. Finally figured out that the switch is defective. The mute switch on the side will mute the phone just fine, but it will not switch back to UNMUTE. jiggled it a little and it will switch into unmute, but it is very touchy. all the way down is mute, obviously...but all the way up is ALSO mute. it has to be "balancing" in the middle of the two extreemes in order to give sound to the phone...and is literally on a "hairpin" trigger so to speak and will switch itself back into mute with out even being touched.

sometimes the "opm.db file" is the culprit. In this case you should delete it.
But as much as I regret it and as strange as it may seem I fear it's a challenge for Adobe's Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool.
Sometimes - for whatever reasons - CC doesn't "want" to work. In this case you should CC completely delete and reinstall by help of Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. (A try to uninstall by own resources is not enough!)

Purchases from the App Store do not include serial numbers. The App Store itself provides the licensing for the product. You will have to contact Apple to have them help you reinstall Lightroom through the App store (just because it is no longer for sale does not mean that you will not be able to download your past purchases).

To switch, I am afraid you will have to reinstall using the other one.
But that should hardly be necessary.
