My SGE 2000 24 port POE switch won't boot

Hi,
I have a sge 2000 24 port POE switch that won't boot, won't communicate on console or TCP/IP, and all of the port lights are lit up green. Holding down the reset button doesn't fix the issue and there aren't any lights illuminated on the left hand side of the switch. Do I have a future doorstop?
Any ideas?

Hi David, if you're unable to console the switch, there isn't an alternative recovery method. You should check the warranty by calling the SBSC to see if you're entitled to replacement.

I rebooted my Catalyst 3560 24 port PoE switch and when it turned on only the STAT LED went green the other LEDs are off.  I get no response from the console port using putty and the cable I used before this happened.  I tested the cable on another switch and it works fine with putty.  What can I do with this switch?

This unit was purchased before I came to our company.  There is no support or maint contract.  I'm sure the unit is several years old...we'll call the vendor and see what they'll do..not expecting much.

If you have a Cisco switch with, at least, one faulty port you RMA the appliance.
There is nothing more detailed than that.

  • SRW248G4P Linksys switch won't boot

I  have a Linksys Cisco Small Business switch model SRW248G4P which won't boot anymore.  This is what I see with Hyperterm when I hook it up to boot it:

I've tried uploading the latest image file I found on Cisco web site for the switch, but it appears to be the boot file which is the problem.  It doesn't appear to try to get to the image file.
Is there a source for the latest boot image for this model switch?

Hi Jason, there is not a boot release any more. It was integrated in to the firmware. This switch has been eos/eol for years and is no longer supported. The upgrade for this switch is the SF/SG 300 series.

Which image should I send to the switch?
The image provided by the official support page:
    http://software.cisco.com/download/type.html?mdfid=282414078&flowid=3659
    (version 1.0.2 or version 1.3.1)

Considering the advice of Tom Watts

    "1.2.2a is 1.0.6 boot code.
    1.2.2b is 1.0.1 boot code.
    1.2.3.0 is 1.0.2 boot code
It looks like you're using 1.0.1 boot code so the 1.2.2b firmware should be for you."

  • Hp 2000 did factory reset, won't boot up, need disc but don't have one!!!! What can I do.....???????

I had to do a factory restore on my hp 2000. It said it completed to then click finish to restart so I did, but now it won't boot back up says I need the windows disc, but I don't have one. Called tech support my warranty is out so I had to pay (ok I get that but at the moment im flat broke, no joke!). Ok so what can I do to recover this without a disc??? I was told there are steps but I don't know them!! My kid uses that laptop for school, so I really kinda need to figure this out. If anyone could be so kind as into help me out that would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you for taking the time to read this!!

If you are in US or Canada there is an option to order Recovery Disks on your support page in the 'drivers & software' list  for around $16. You can find your support page using the link at top of this page titled "Support and Drivers". To find the correct page you will need full Model number or Product number as listed on the Service Tag attached to bottom of laptop. If you need more help locating the support page please post your Model number and Product number.
    A free alternative to consider>>
If the laptop came with Windows 7 AND you can read the 25 character Microsoft Windows 7
license key attached to bottom of laptop , you can download a Windows 7 ISO file to burn to a DVD The version must match the one listed on the Microsoft COA sticker, such as Windows 7 Home Premium.
Link to the Windows 7 ISO file downloads:
    http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/14709-Windows-7-Digital-River-direct-links-Multiple-Languag...
Use the Windows 7 USB/DVD  tool to convert the ISO file to a Windows installation on DVD or USB flash drive.
     http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool#installation
Boot from the newly created DVD or flash drive, install. Use the 25 character product key on the PC to activate the installation.
Next go to your support and driver page to install the drivers you need.

  • ESW 520 8-port PoE switch cannot ping

    Hello
I have an ESW 520 8-Port switch with a management ip address of 192.168.10.2 /24
After I reboot it, I can successfully ping it from a pc with an ip of 192.168.10.123 for about 50 consecutive times.
After that, I get a "Destination host unreachable" (this icmp message is sent by my pinging pc (192.168.10.123).
This obviously seems like a bug.
    Has anybody seen this before.
Whenever I reboot it, it goes through the same sequence.
    Thanksj

    Hi David,
I figured out what the problem was.
The switch was obtaining an ip via dhcp, as it is a DCHP client by default.
I am used to working with Enterprise level Cisco equipment, so this simple oversight was the cause of the problem.
The ip that was obtained via dhcp was obviously different than the default ip of 192.168.10.2
So when the switch was rebooted, it would start off with its default ip of 192.168.10.2.
As soon as it obtained an ip via dhcp, I could not ping it of course
    Thanks for the  input though

  • Powering AP's via POE switch or injector

    Hi,
Could anyone please advise if there is any difference in the power supplied to a 1142N AP when using a power injector (AIR-PWRINJ3/AIR-PWRINJ4) compared to using poe on the switch port (2960S 24 port POE switch WS-C2960S-24PS-L).
    Thanks.

but someone once advised that in order to get full N potential from the AP's you need injectors.
    Someone got their facts wrong.
If I was to get the full potential with N, I'd look to plug the WAP into a GigabitEthernet port.  PoE or Injector won't make any difference.

  • Using 3560 8 port PoE to power up 1252 dual radio AP for b\g clients

    Hi,
We have a couple of 3560 8 port PoE switches that we plan to use to power up 1252 APs (not ordered yet). Now since the 3560 switch will only support one radio, is it possible to order a pre installed dual radio 1252 AP, disable the 5 Ghz one and enable the 2.4 Ghz, so that b/g clients can access the network, until a PoE+ switch is purchased?
    All help is appreciated
    Thanks

Slight misconception here.  The 3560 will power the AP and both radios, so long as you are running 4.2.112.0 or higher on the WLC, or 12.4(10b)JDC or higher for an autonomous AP.  The caveat here, is you will run in a degraded state for N rates.
The below link describes the power to N rate relationship:

  • 8 port poe with 2 SFP 1gig uplink port

I need a 8 port poe switch  (LAn base) with 2 X 1gig SFP uplink.  can anyone suggest me the correct model?

Depending on your budget, you have a choice of FastEthernet or GigabitEthernet ports.
For FastEthernet ports, WS-C2960C-8PC or WS-C3560C-8PC.
    For GigabitEthernet ports, WS-C3560CG-8PC.

  • Mac won't boot, stuck on grey screen if the external hdd plugged in

    as the title.
if i plug my external drive, via usb port, the mac won't boot and stuck at grey screen.
unplugging it, the boot process will continue.
the hdd is a LaCie mobile hdd
    any help?

    Hello jason(?)
It's a LaCie external mobiel hdd, formatted as exFAT. without adapter. take power directly from usb port.
i tested it on my iMac and it works fine. boot up as normal. the only difference is my iMac is on 10.6.8 and my Air is on 10.7.2
I tested on both USB port on my Air and the problem still persist.
the read/write speed is normal (bought it like a day ago).
another thing is I don't have this problem with my external WD drive.
One thing to notice is that, I accidentally left like for like 2-3 mins and it boots. So why the question now is why it's taking so long to boot? normally it just takes <20 seconds. Seems like it tried to boot from the external hdd, doesn't it?

  • Solid 48-Port Gb Managed PoE Switch (that won't break the bank)?

You can also look at the SG300 series for layer 3 management same deal as the SG200.

We are finally updating our decade-old phone system to get VoIP phones. I need a 48-port gigabit switch with:
    - QoS
    - VLAN tagging (so a managed switch)
    - PoEWe only have single drops to our workstations. I have never worked in IOS before, but I like the idea of a Cisco that meets our needs here and isn't crazy expensive, if such a thing exists. Or maybe Brocade? I've heard they are an offshoot of Cisco. Budget is "as cheap as I can get it."I've been looking at this switch, which has good reviews on amazon, but I've never heard of the brand, whichscares me. The last two switches I've bought are Netgear and I've been really pleased with them BUT we don't use the "managed" portion of the switches at all (not VLANs, etc). Suggestions appreciated...
