My signal bounces around too much
Here is what I'm working with.
UFO style Airport Extreme base station --> 2GHz Intel Core Duo Imac
--> 1.8 GHZ POWER PC G5 IMAC
Both run OS10.4.11
Currently I've got this system up and working just fine, so long as both systems are relatively close by. Unfortunately, my preferred workspace for the Intel Imac is on the other side of the house. In between the room where I need to have the base station and the room I work in is a large stone fireplace and 3 walls all of which I know provide a lot of interference for the wireless signal.
Up until recently the signal had fluctuated a good deal, but mainly, on most days, it was quite useable. Unfortunately the last software update that I downloaded for the base station messed that up. Now it stays strong when it connects, 4 bars, but then it just flat out disappears. It does this in what I would describe as pulses. It fluctuates in and out on almost a beat. Although it will just flat out drop off if I open an application, anything, not just network related. If it feels generous it comes back, if not... poof.
Any idea why it would be doing this now? I downloaded the update because it was supposed to improve performance. Instead it seems to have made things worse.

I honestly don't know if any other services are any better (I have "4G" on my ATT phone and it seems a tad flaky also) but what you are experiencing wth Verizon has been going on since December 2010 when they launched. I fought it for close to a year trying every device Verizon offers and finally just gave up and accepted it. (The bite to the story is that now the device I ended up with (jetpack 4510) is actually failing electronically but they jumped at chance to say warranty is up now and won't even try to troubleshoot anything) There is no solution for this other than just resetting the device when needed and living with the disconnects. I did actually get an answer from two different techs (I was calling in every few days for about 6 months) that said they know there is a network glitch causing the disconnects but their focus is on expanding the network to get the subscriber base, then they will work on the infrastructure problems after that. Don't know if that is true or just some frustrated techs but there is obviously a flaw with the network and it's obviously not fixed yet.

Hi all,
For my course I have to do a piece of work using only Sculpture to create a "real sounding" sound design for a piece of video. In total there are about 40 to 60 different sounds I need to create=lots of Sculptures!
At the minute I'm running about 9 instances of Sculpture and a 24.6mB video clip through Logic. (I also have a fair bit of automation running too)
Problem is it's all getting to be a bit too much for my poor iMac. I know this is all power and RAM hungry stuff, but question is, how many instances of Sculpture can I sensibly expect my computer to be able to handle? Also, what is the best way to get around this? Should I compress the video down,should I start bouncing out some audio into another session, or would freezing the tracks help?
I also need to be able to keep all my instances of Sculpture, and it would be nice if i could keep them all in the same session..is there a way I could keep all the instances of Sculpture in one session!?

what to do is design each sound carefully - and i would not necessarily use sculpture to achieve this, then export the midi region as an audio file. if you export them as a wav, you can then import them into a different song, hit move audio to original position and all your individually hand crafted sounds will line up in their correct position. you will use wayyy less resources.
sculpture won't necessarily make things more realistic - it is much better for creating otherworldly sounds. you would do far better to do your own foley recording. literally go and record bits of metal clunking together, that sort of thing. and you would be very surprised as to what sounds 'realistic'. sometimes the oddest combinations of things time stretched or tuned down can sound more 'realistic' than the actual sound itself. in the same way they used different shades of pink and purple to give the uniforms the right effect in the black and white classic 'the great dictator'.
that combined with a really terrific space designer IR or several to put the objects into the right space in relation to what you see and you can get a very slick and realistic effect.
you don't need to be running 40-60 tracks of sculpture mate. -

I have 1 Year Old N73 ME and I mainly use it for Calling and Texting. Very Occasionally I use it for Music/Gaming and Browsing the Web.
The phone is completely in excellent condition
The problem is that: While charging ONLY the Battery gets too much HOT and it never shows Battery is Full (Charged it for Max 1 Hour 45 Minutes)
This problem suddenly appeared, so I formatted the Memory Card as well as Hard Format/Reset the Phone, but still the Battery is heating too much
After disconnecting the Phone from Charger, the Battery is FULL and I can use it without any problem and as usual. The Talktime right now is around 2.5 Hours and Standby time is around 2-3 Days
Please tell me what to do

The TC is not a NAS.. it is not designed as a file store.. even attempting to use it that way can lead to issues.

Taking too much time using BufferedWriter to write to a file
Hi,
I'm using the method extractItems() which is given below to write data to a file. This method is taking too much time to execute when the number of records in the enumeration is 10000 and above. To be precise it takes around 70 minutes. The writing pauses intermittently for 20 seconds after writing a few lines and sometimes for much more. Has somebody faced this problem before and if so what could be the problem. This is a very high priority work and it would be really helpful if someone could give me some info on this.

What exactly happens is that after a few loops it just seems to sleep for around 20 seconds and then again starts off and ............it goes on till the records are done.
Please do lemme know if you have any idea as to why this is happening !!!!! This bug is giving me the scare.

BPC application is taking too much time to load

I'm facing a very weird problem...
We've developed a BPC application (app name: USM).
This application is taking too much time to be loaded in some computers (around 8 minutes to load). Yes, in SOME computers.
There is around 100.000 registers in the database and most coming from material master data.
If I try to load this USM application in another computer, the process loads smoothly. The computer's hardware is all the same, the server is hyper estimated and everyone is in the same network.
I talked to infrastructure departament and we made several tests. We run BPC on the server (loaded quickly), on several computers (some loads quickly, others don't), used wireless and cable connection (got all the same result) and checked communication between BW and BPC but it is ok.
After all, I tried to load APSHEL application in the same enviroment and it loaded intantly. So, I guess it is something wrong with my application. But if was this, I suppose it should happen to all computers and not only with part of them.
Have anybody ever seen something like this?

I would try making a couple of test:
1. I will install the client in a machine that is located in the same network segment, or try using a vpn that comunicates with the server bypassing all security devices, only to see if the network it's the problem.
2. Making a full optimize of one application to see if maybe the problem it's related to the segmentation of the cubes (i don't think that this is the problem but give it a try).
It is very wierd that in some computers happends and in others don't... also try to clean up the local cache of the applications in those computers that are giving to you bad performce and retry.

[Solved] Dolphin taking too much time to respond
Dolphin, while used by an ordinary user, takes too much time to respond, especially when firefox is running. The time it takes to initialize is also very lengthy. At times, it does not even open up and even if active, it hangs for quite sometime before being responsive again while trying to select a file or two.
At the same time, it works rather faster when called as super user through command line using $sudo dolphin
But then, the console displays lot of error messages as follows.

IPad Air too much time to open a link from Mail
SInce the last update to iOS 8.02 my iPad Air takes too much time to open a web link from the Mail App, Safari open itself with a long delay.
furthermore The attachments into email are often not readable, have to reload the message to be able to open the attachment.
LAst but not least, I have too many messages not downloaded from the iMap server and I can read just the title of it.There's a large thread around about this Dolphin problem.

Full DTP taking too much time to load
Hi All ,
I am facing an issue where a DTP is taking too much time to load data from DSO to Cube via PC and also while manually running it.
There are 6 such similar DTP's which load data for different countries(different DSO's and Cubes as source and target respectively) for last 7 days based on GI Date. All the DTP's are pulling almost same no. of records and finish within 25-30 min. But only one DTP takes around 3 hours. The problem started couple of days back.
I have change the Parallel processes from 3->4->5 and packet size from 50,000->10,000->1.00.000 but no improvement. Also want to mention that all the source DSO's and target Cubes have the same structure. All the transformations have Field Routines and End Routines.
Can you all please share some pointers which can help.

I've now installed the ad blocker, thrown away the unwanted files, and thrown away a copy of Firefox that Adware said had a problematic extension.
Things are better, but still slow.
Activity Monitor shows that with just Mail, Chrome and Excel running, 2.9GB of my 4GB RAM is used. Opening InDesign (always slow) increase that to 3.2GB. But the graph stays green.
Console shows several potential problems but I don't know if any are significant. In any case I will call my Mac store tomorrow to ask their advice about RAM.

T400 takes too much time to start or shutdown
I got a lenovo thinkpad T400, everything seems to be fine but lot of issues.
1. It takes too much time to start or shutdown (I purchased 2GB turbo memory along with the system for $50, but no use).My system is slower than 2.2 GHz(mine is 2.53GHz)
2.Fingerprint Reader: When I tried to login using my fingerprint reader it gives an error message "computer is locked only authorized user can login", when we need to type in Password every time, why Finger print reader is used ?
Connectivity: All laptops around can see all networks but not mine, my system couldn't see any networks. Why ?
4. System strucks suddenly staying irresponsible for while.!!!!!!!!!!!
When I tried to talk to CSR, they instructed to format my system using the CD's which they are going to send.When I tried to do so; an error message occurred when I inserted second CD ,that "please insert suitable/matchable(don't remember exactly) CD.
I have other question; the CD's sent by lenovo are not AUTO PLAYABLE ?what if you press your blue thinkvantage button during startup? does it take you to the recovery partition?

I suffer same. AppleCare can't seem to solve the problem. I did a restore from backup. Then I did a restore as new phone (virgin). Then I did a restore as a new device and then backed up from a stored backup (which does not replace media). To no avail. Some days it works fine, and on others it's extremely bothersome. The major symptoms:
1. It can take 5+ seconds to delete a photo.
2. It can take 10+ seconds for the camera app to activate. In many instances, the moment is long gone.
3. Switching from camera to video can take 5+ seconds.
4. Saving a photo that's been optimized in iOS 5 can take 30 seconds. Absurd.
Note that Photos and Camera aren't the only affected applications. What'sApp can have the same issues on occasion. Voice Memos don't respond like they should, either. I suspect that there's some behind-the-scenes operations with network feed to which iOS gives its full attention (contrary to the UX getting full attention is is historically the case). This makes the user interface painfully slow at times — and, as most of us here would agree — painfully annoying. This might have to do with changes designed around iCloud, but I'm not even (yet) using it.
The bottom line is that what used to be a quick, pretty good phone camera is now totally lackluster and unreliable for fast shots. Sometimes I think Apple spends too much time worrying about form and not enough about function. -
I am not very familiar with the ipad2. I wished to transfer some photos from my pc (not an apple pc but that is the only one I have) to my ipad2 as I thought it would be easier to cull them, edit, crop etc to create albums for our recent trip (the photos are already on the pc and no longer on the camera memory card). When I place the usb stick on the adaptor and stick it onto the Ipad2 I keep getting 'device uses too much power/ requires too much power' message. I read somewhere on the internet that a usb hub could be used to solve the issue but that did not work either. What am I doing wrong? Is there actually a way around this problem. If not why does apple sell this product for Ipad users at all?
