If you have previously synced your device with iTunes, you may be able to reset the passcode by restoring the device:
Connect the device to the computer with which you normally sync and open iTunes.
Note: If iTunes asks you to enter the passcode, try another computer that you have synced with. Otherwise, go to "If you have never synced your device with iTunes, or you do not have access to a computer" section below.
If the device is still disabled, or if iTunes does not automatically sync your device, sync the device with iTunes.
When the backup and sync is complete, restore your device.
When iOS Setup Assistant asks to set up your device, choose "Restore from iTunes backup".
Select your device in iTunes and choose the most recent backup of your device.

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.
Try on another computer too and try another cable.

what password exactly. locked iphone or itunes password. if locked iphone than just restore it. if itunes password then go to settings-itunes/store/or app store then hit sign out then sign in with yours.

Simple fact is, if she can't remember this info, you won't be able to re-activate the phone, it will be a useless for anything other than a paperweight. Called Activation Lock.
Apple can't/won't help you with this.

The device will have to be restored but without the last computer it was synced to, that's not a possibility.
Take the iPod to an Apple store or Apple certified repair shop.
You will need a computer in order to sync, restore, and update the iPod in the future.

Did this back along to mine. Plug it into itunes on your pc (or Mac) and click on the ipod icon on the left hand side. When the device options come up on the main screen, click on restore. Follow the steps and it should restore to factory settings. If you had icloud activated on the ipod all previous purchases should be in the cloud and ready to download onto the ipod afte rit has been restored to factory settings, otherwise you'll have to download them all again. I have a WDBBP0010BBK-01 external drive that I have for over 3 yrs. My Dell crashed recently and I did a restore.

Without the correct password you are not going to be able to get into the drive. I recommend you try to remember the password or you will have to erase the drive in order to use it again.
