My site no in idisk.?

I've been using iweb since the beginning, but my site has never been on my idisk..Does it have something to do with the fact that I'm still on OS 10.3.9....?
ibook g4 933 MHz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I have been having the same problem actually. (No folder named "Web" in the local iDisk sitting on my desktop.)
After searching for the problem and reading this thread, I went into System Prefs, turned off "Create a local copy of your iDisk," and the iDisk that was on my desktop disappeared. (After a proper warning dialog, making sure this is what I wanted to do.)
I then browsed my iDisk again from the browser, and the "Web" folder appeared. (With the proper files inside.) Problem solved!
The weird thing is that my iWeb site has been going for about five weeks, and I just added the local copy of my iDisk two weeks ago. I don't know why it didn't show up in there.
Anyway, this is why it's best to search the forums before asking a question that someone has already asked!
Thanks for the help!

  • Can I import a site from an iDisk Backup?

i recently did an erase and install on my MBP thinking that iWeb would be able to retrieve my site from my iDisk. I then found out there is a separate domain file that iweb uses which I deleted. What is the easiest way to get my site back being that I do still have it all "there" on idisk?
Also, the site was created with iweb '09 but now im using '08.
    Thanks.

iWeb cannot import published sites. See this page for help.....

  • Uploading iweb site from my idisk

I recently had a hard drive crash on me so I've been restoring all of my old files using idisk. Problem is when I open iweb it keeps wanting to create a completely new site instead of opening my old site. I am afraid if I start a new site I will copy over my old files. Maybe there is a way to get iweb to "link" with my current site on mobileme. Apple is usually good at making this stuff easy so I am missing something obvious.

The domain file is not exactly a secret.
If you care to read the iWeb Help, you will find this:
"Your websites are stored in one file called “Domain” on your computer. You can copy this file to another computer as a backup or to work on your site from another location. For example, you may want to update your website from home and from work.
The Domain file is located in your Library/Application Support/iWeb/ folder in your home folder.
To move your Domain file, do one of the following:

Copy the Domain file to the default location shown above on another computer, and then open iWeb.

Copy the Domain file to another computer, but not to the default location, and then double-click the Domain file.
In either case, the next time you open iWeb the most recent Domain file opens.
It’s best to leave the Domain file in its default location unless you have a good reason for moving it.
IMPORTANT: If you use the same Domain file on different computers, be sure to always use the latest version of the file. Otherwise, when you publish, you may overwrite your site with old information."
If you care to open System Preferences, you can set up File Sharing or research this topic in Mac Help.

  • Accessing domain.sites file from idisk

    Hi, all! Merry X-mas!
I just got a new MacBook (yay!) and I would like to work on my various websites. However, my desktop with my files on it is 3,000 miles away. Is there a way to open iweb on my new computer and access my various domains here using my idisk?
    Thanks! And Happy Holidays!
    Lisa

    Hi Lisa and Merry Christmas!
If you had copied your Domain files to your iDisk, you could download them to your new laptop and open them with the iWeb application. Beyond that, unless you know a way to hack into the system on your desktop machine...
I keep mine (Domains) on a usb thumb drive that I always carry with my laptop. You can even click on them straight from the drive and iWeb will open them for editing and publishing.

  • IWeb + iDisk = "only one" passworded site?

Of course, it's not "only one" since you can have as many p-worded sites as you want, but apparently if you use your iDisk, the addressing for the sites during authentication is identical so you're always logging into "idisk.mac.com." Is this why Firefox won't remember the passwords between different sites—because each new site requires a different password but there's nothing to differentiate the different sites during the authentication?
    (Hope that made sense)
Getting kind of annoying have to re-enter my username and password anytime I bounce to a different site on my iDisk...

    Akdream wrote:
usually people set different passwords for different sites thus you have to put it in each time changing from one site to another...
That's what I mean (sorry if my first post was confusing). I'd like to be able to "remember password" for each site, but since they're all linked to "idisk.mac.com" and not something more unique (like "/site1" and "/site2"), if I save password #2, it overwrites password #1, forcing me to re-enter pword #1 the next time I visit site #1. Can this be avoided? Or are you basically forced to use only one username and password if you want to check "remember" and not have to manually enter it each time?

  • Restoring Lost Site Through iDisk

I just reformated my mac, so everything got erased. But my iDisk has my site still under iDisk -> Web -> Sites and then has my site. So how can I get my iWeb 09 to import the site from my iDisk to the actually iWeb so I can start editing it and etc..

No, because it is not part of your published site, rather it is an iWeb file and can be found under User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites.
Anything on your iDisk or under MobileMe is a published site that iWeb cannot open and it is the same if you publish to a folder, the site is published so iWeb cannot use it.
In this case, you will either have to locate your domain file or re-build your site.

  • Can't copy domain.sites from iDisk to harddrive

I thought it would be a good idea to move my domain.sites file from my local hardrive to iDisk so I could work on my web site while on the road.
I was wrong. It was a lousy idea. It takes forever to load, save, and publish. What a pain.
Now I want to copy the domain.sites from the iDisk to my harddrive but it won't do it. I get a message saying I don't have permission to read some of the files. ***! It's my darn file, I shouldn't need permission, but that's besides the point.
How can I get my domain.sites file of the POS iDisk and back to my harddrive?
    Thanks everyone

Yeah, the whole Domain file on the iDisk idea always seemed iffy to me. Sorry to hear about your troubles.
Try this....try selecting your Domain file on your iDisk, then do a Get Info on it (Apple-i or File>Get Info). In the window that opens, look all the way to the bottom where it says Ownership and Privileges. Click on details. Click on the lock to make changes. See if you can change the ownership to yourself or maybe some of the read/write privileges there.
I wonder if this will make a difference. Let me know.

  • First Launch Acting Funny, Site Inspector show no info connected to iDisk..

    Hello all.
A while back I was suffering from failure to publish iWeb (Error Publishing) and also fail to access iDisk, it was later determined that it was my ISP's "doings".
Seemed the problem was solved almost a week ago and everything is back to normal.
But for the past few days when I launch iWeb, inside the Inspector's Site window: The iDisk information would be blank, i.e. the bar would be empty, you cannot tell how much disk space is used nor can 'Buy More'...
At this point though, I did not try to see if I can publish.
I tested inside System Preferences and also, I can access/mount my iDisk
I have to at least quit, then launch iWeb again to see all those info, and then I can successfully publish.
But at some times, at least two incidents, if I launch iWeb the second time, every page I created would turn RED, as if they are all not publish.
But as soon as I hit just "Publish to .Mac", because I knew, and I only made changes to one particular page, or has added a new blog; The publish speed is what would be expected, updating of that new addition, and not re-publishing the whole site again.
Anyone has any idea what's going on? Is it my ISP again? It is not particular worse than when I was unable to publish at all, but just a slight inconvenience...
    Thanks and cheers

  • Help...over wrote homepage, but original sits on iDisk

I just created my first blog and published it to my homepage using iWeb only to my horror that it over wrote my existing site that I had also created in iWeb. Fortunately that site html and assets sits on my iDisk. Is there anyway to create a new site in iWeb and copy and paste in the old site created in iWeb. Could really use some help as it is my portfolio in the original site.
Desktop G4 Dual Processor   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Yes, in fact I would recommend copying the site folder off your iDisk to your desktop or somewhere for safe keeping until you are done rebuilding. YOu can open up all the folders inside of there and find your original images. And you can copy and paste the text off the pages.
To make a new site and keep the blog you are working on, just select "New Site" frfrom the file menu.

  • Cannot seem to write to iDisk to add a javascript file

I am trying to add a javascript (js file) and a few png files into the folder of my iWeb site page on iDisk but it doesn't stay there. It appears to be copied but when I go back to check, it's not there. I have read and write permission to this unlocked folder. Although I have been using iWeb for awhile and have four working websites, I'm not real familiar with iDisk changes.
By the way, is this the correct way to add a js file that is referenced by my HTML snippet?
    Help is much appreciated. Thx.
    Julie

Sorry, but I'm still confused about syncing. Let me back up and find out if what I am trying to do is possible. I am using iWeb '08 version 2.0.3, by the way.
I want to add an HTML snippet (Insert HTML Snippet) onto one of my website pages. The HTML snippet has a line referring to a script (<script type="text/javascript" src="sorttable/sortabletable.js"></script>). So I need to put the sortabletable.js script somewhere. It is in a folder called sorttable that also includes some png files as background images. I was thinking that I should put the sorttable folder into the folder on iDisk for that particular web page. So first of all, is this possible? Is it possible to add scripts to iDisk that are used in an HTML snippet on an iWeb page? The reason I'm asking is that I asked this question to Customer Support and they said: ..."iWeb does not offer the ability for the user to add custom HTML into the page."
If this is possible, then I need to make sure I'm doing it right, which brings us to the syncing issue. My options for syncing (under System Preferences for .Mac) are for bookmarks, calendars, contacts, keychains, and mail-related things. I don't see an option to sync iWeb or websites or any other generic iDisk option. Could this be because I'm using Mac OS X version 10.4.11?
    Thanks again, in advance.

  • Teachers sharing one dot mac with iWeb need help- sites are being lost

Sorry to be lengthy- Here's the question and issue first and then the background.
Question/Issue: Anyone know a way we can have multiple people (eventually 20 or so) with their own computers creating sites in iWeb and publishing them to a common dot mac account without wiping each other out?
Background:I am a teacher and at our school we have a single dot mac account. A few of us have been using iWeb (2 on iWeb 08 and 1 on iWeb 06) and posting our sites to dot mac with no problems. The iWeb 06 sites went to a folder under Web> Sites>iWeb in our dot-mac's iDisk; the iWeb 08 sites were directly under the Web>Sites folder. When sites were uploaded from different computers there was no problem (they all had unique names) and it worked great until this week.Even the 2 users both on iWeb 08 could send their sites to the iDisk and nothing would be deleted, just more site folders were added.
We are now all on iWeb 08 and so nothing goes into the folder on the dot-mac's iDisk under iWeb, they all go as unique sites- no problem I thought.
Our problem is now that when any one of us update our sites, it wipes out everyone else's site (since their site isn't on our computer). It didn't used to be that way 2 weeks ago !!! Could this be something new with the migration to mobile me (if it is, this really ***** for us)
I know a solution is to publish the sites to folders and then drag to the dot mac in sub-folders under Web>Sites instead of publish and each of us can have our own folder, but its a pain and not all of the teachers will be able to do this.
I think there is a feature in iWeb06 called personal domains, but I think we can only have 2, so not sure if this will help.
Does anyone know a way to set the defaults in the domain.sites2 file or in iWeb so it will use a sub-folder when loading up to dot mac? This way each of us can have our settings different and it will load for us automatically on the iDisk.
Does anyone know why this used to work and now it doesn't?
    Any other ideas- Help Please

    From my own experience.
When you publish to dotMac the index.html file in the root redirects to the top Site in the list of the iWeb domain file.
I use ca. 40 Sites in some 30 domain files. And most are customized after publishing. Plus a lot more irregular stuff.
iWeb remembers what Site in which domain was published last.
When I choose a different domain file, iWeb will create a new index.html file to redirect to the "new" Site.
As far as I could determine, none of the either published Sites are deleted. If iWeb did delete previous published Sites I would not change domain files.
In your case the following will happen. Every student publishes his/her Site(s). The last one published will be the default Site.
As long as no-one changes his/her Sitename or add a new Site at the top of the list, the default Site last published will be that.
Make sure everybody's Sitename is unique.
I use a custom index.html file in the root. So I have to pay attention that when I publish a new site, the custom index.html page is overwritten. I keep a copy of that index.html file in the root. I can replace the index.html file in case of emergency.
Does anyone know a way to set the defaults in the domain.sites2 file or in iWeb so it will use a sub-folder when loading up to dot mac? This way each of us can have our settings different and it will load for us automatically on the iDisk.
Don't look for hidden settings. If it was possible, it would be visible in the preferences. Accept the way iWeb/dotMac does its job. It wasn't designed to be used by multiple users with multiple computers and only one account. That should give you a hint.
All other problems are purely organizational. Personally I wouldn't trust multiple persons on one account. Give them their own account. If they mess up things they are responsible. Or find another solution.

  • Display 2 different blogs on same site

    Hello
One of my clients is a gym. They want to display todays workout as 1 blog post which aiutomatically appears by displaying the blog that is for today's date.
Hoewever they want an actual blog page for actual blog posts
So my question is..... How do i stop a blog post that i create with todays date appearing on the workout page with todays workout, and keep them separate.
Currently the blogs are set up in the following manner:
    1. General Blog - Then this contains Blog posts
    2. Daily workout blogs which are set us as the blog name being the current month then there are 30/31 blog posts inside that display the days workout. So for eg Blog name is 'May 2014' and the posts are 'Sunday 25th May 2014'
I am using {module_blogsitepost,1}  to display the blog post which is today's workout. (#2 of above)
But when i do a general blog post in the 'general blog' and it has the same date as one of the workouts abve - is shows up on that days workout page.
To be clear - i want the general blog and it's posts to display on the 'Blog' Page, and i want the daily workouts to be displayed on the 'workouts' page.
    Can anyone help me please?
    Thanks so much
    Rebecca

iWeb2.0 now publishes to a different location on the iDisk. It no longer creates/publishes to a subdirectory named "iWeb"; it now publishes directly to the Sites folder in the root iWeb directory on the iDisk.
Not that any of this should matter; but for whatever reason, it will erase, apparently, the most recently published site in front of it, as you have discovered. So here's the workaround:
Use the Go menu in the Finder to navigate to your existing, published site on the iDisk:
    Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites/YourSiteIsHere
Move the folder that contains your site (it will have the same name as your site in iWeb) back one level on the iDisk, into the root Web directory. It should now be in the same folder as the Sites folder. Now go back to iWeb and File/Publish all to .Mac. Your previous site will not be erased.
When publishing is finished, navigate back to the Web folder on the iDisk, and move the previous site back to it's original location in the Web/Sites folder.
Both sites are now published and accessible using your .Mac/username/nameofsite url.

  • Accessing site files on .mac for iweb when hard drive crashed w/out backup

    Hello,
My hard drive crashed. I built my website on iweb, had it stored on my desktop before being able to actually back it up.
I have been able to grab my site files from idisk, but cannot drag & drop the website into my desktop, so I can update it.
Can you please add this feature to the iweb software. I do not understand why I could save the website on the .mac
server, and not access it when I need it.
This should definitely be a feature for working with .mac.
Please let me know. I am a fine artist, and the site is great.
    Help please.
    Kellyann

There is no way for your to do this unless you remembered or knew to backup a file called "Domain" from your hard drive before you formatted it. The pages that you already published and that are still online do not constitute any sort of backup....they are simply the finished product of iWeb's processing. There is no way to import these files back into iWeb for editing from your iDisk or from .Mac.
In the future, you should know that iWeb stores all vital information about your webpages in a single file called "Domain". This file is the one and only file where iWeb stores everything it needs to be able to edit your webpages and publish them. This is the file that you would need to backup in case anything happens to your computer....or you just want to use iWeb on another computer. This file is changed everytime you make a change in iWeb, so in terms of backup, it is wise to make a backup after every major change that you make to your websites so that you always have the most recent work backed up. This file by default is located on your hard drive in the following folder pathway..... HardDrive/Users/yourname/Library/Application Support/iWeb/.... It is best to leave the file here in this location unless you are familiar with iWeb and its treatment of multiple Domain files.
I am sorry to be the one to tell you this bad news. You have lost the ability to edit the sites you have already published. Unless you have a backup copy of this Domain file laying around somewhere, you only course of action will be to recreate your site from scratch.

  • Change site name in google

    Hello,
I have published my site trough iweb on my mobile me account. When I look up my site on google it shows "about". How can I change my sites name?

Is the first page of your site named About? If so change the page title to something else in iWeb and republish.
Or, use the free iWeb SEO Tool to give that page a new title that you would want to show up in the google search.
It can access the site on your iDisk, add the title tag to the About page and save it. SEO remember the tags it has assigned to each page of your site so it can be easily reapplied with just one click of the button after any edits and republications are made.

  • Multipul iweb sites   problem with own domain name

    hello all
i have currently 2 iweb sites (my own personal one with my own personal domain) and another site which has a podcast for my self and flat mates
    the problem comes in this.
if i want to subscribe the podcast to itunes it trys to send it as www.garethmob.co.uk/flat6_band ect where the actuall band website does not sit on my own personal website
is there any way i can fix this by having the origional web.me.com/garethmob ect for one of the websites and the garethmob.co.uk for the other?
both are on my mobile me account
thanks for any help in advance
    Gareth

If you have more than on site on your iDisk and go to Finder/Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites, you will see that you have two website folders but only one index.html file.
If the domain name www.garethmob.co.uk (Site 1) is directed at that index.html file then that's the one that must exist in the Web/Sites folder.
When you upload another site (Site 2), its index.html file overwrites the existing one and the URL is then directed to the wrong site.
When you upload changes to the site with the MobileMe URL (Site 2), you must then upload a copy of the index.html file for the other site (Site 1) after doing this.
You can do this by publishing your Site 1 to a local folder and then put the index.html file inside a folder and trash the rest.
After you have uploaded changes to Site 2, go to Finder/Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites and upload a copy of the index.html file for Site 1 by drag and drop.
