I have just found out my old skype account has been hacked within the last few days. The hackers added two pakistan subscriptions and my debit card attached to my account was charged $49.99 and $29.99. I immediately cancelled the subscriptions and changed my password. Last night I was at my friend's house. So in the morning I have came home and logged on to my skype well The first thing I see is about 140 messages for a guy named Nate talking to someone named clairee martell. They talked for a while. So when I saw this I logged on to my account and changed my password. I just want to know if there is anymore ways I can make my account alot safer. I have had this account for a very long time. My account has been hacked and my credit card charged by the hacker and all Skype has to say about it, is that I need to wait 72 hours for them to look at my query? I cannot log into my account. I have filled in the support form, but I haven't received an email notification from Skype that I have submitted it. I'm guessing that's because my account is now in the use of someone else, as the hacker changed the account over to his email address. I know he did that, as I got a notification of changing the email address at the same moment as I was logged out of Skype. I use Skype professionally and this issue is causing me a world of trouble. The fact that Skype is a paid service ought to mean that there is better support than 'we will look at it within 72 hours.'

So nearly 24 hours later, and still no information either in this forum or via email notification from Skype. Does this mean that Skype is instead communicating with the person who hacked my account? Since the hacker now has my account registered with their email address, It seems that's the most likely situation, given the unparallelled course of incompetence I'm experiencing from them. If Skype had taken action on this right away (the moment I made the complaint, which was minutes after my account was hacked) the charge that the hacker made on my credit card would not be lost due to his usage of my account. But apparently, stopping fraud is so low on Skype's agenda that this can go on and on. If I had not been on Skype when it happened (prompting me to instantly block my credit card) there would have been nothing to stop the hacker from making multiple charges to my card, potentially running into the hundreds of dollars. Instead of action to deal with my problems, I'm receiving notifications that I have earnt 'a new rank' in the Skype community. Whoop-dee-bleedin'-doo!

That does not mean your account has been hacked.
All it means is that some spammer has attached your email address to some email he sent. That is incredibly easy to do (just change the From: address) and does not require access to your account.
Spammers do this all the time. There's nothing you can do about it. Just delete the bounced emails and it will subside when the spammers move on to other email addresses.
