I don't have any good suggestions but try this.
    1. Reinstall iTunes. There are several articles on how to do this in google.
    2. Restore from a time machine back up to when iTunes was working.
    3. Rebuild your library if you can.
That's all I have. I hope someone else can help out as I know it can be frustrating.

First we need to check your precise version number, Katy. In iTunes, go "Help > About iTunes", and wait for the version number to scroll up from the bottom of the screen.
If it says *iTunes 10.1.0.54,* we need to update you to iTunes 10.1.0.56. The 10.1.0.56 version may not show up for you in Apple Software update, so you'll probably need to get the 10.1.0.56 installer from the Apple Website, as per the following document:

  • Itunes "has stopped working" windows solution? HELP ME

this has beeng going on for about a week, one day i went to itunes and all of all sudden said itunes has stopped working. I have uninstalled itunes and quicktime, and reinstalled. I also searched the forums and did everything what everyone suggests. I located all the files removed them, did a virus check, spyware, adware. Installed itunes and then quick time separtely but still nothing. I just dont know what else to do. Do i have to whipe my whole hard drive and start from scratch. I dont care about my songs because they arent from itunes but just imported cds i just feel like somewhere there is a corrupt itunes file or what not. please someone help me, i dont like having my ipod work with windows media player?
    HELP HELP

Ok, the person above had the right idea:
Basically you need to remove ALL traces of iTunes and quicktime before reinstalling. Since you have Vista, its a little bit of a pain in the butt.
    1) Go to your control panel and open "Program and Files" or whatever it is
    2) Uninstall iTunes but do not reboot the computer yet.
    3) Uninstall Quicktime, and any other apple products (Software Update and Media Devices)
    4) Reboot.
    5) Open "My Computer" and then your main drive (typically C:), scroll down to "Program Files." Verify iTunes and Quicktime folders do not exist. If they still exist, delete them.
    6) Go back to C: and highlight the "Windows" folder
    7) Go to the folder "System 32", and delete the Quicktime information in there.
    8) Next, go to "Windows/User" and highlight each individual user's AppDate folder. Delete any "Apple" folders (it should only be Quicktime and iTunes information).
    9) Finally, go to your user "Music" and move all your music to another location. Delete the iTunes cache files, including artwork. Reboot. You do not "have" to reboot, but why not.
    10) Reinstall iTunes and Quicktime.
Please note: If you have just installed Ace Mega Codecs, that may be causing a conflict. It may just be a coincidence that I installed this (twice) and iTunes went down (twice), but who knows.
I hope that fixed your problems!

  • "Quicktime has stopped working"

My problem began about two weeks ago when I tried to open iTunes, and it said "iTunes has stopped working." I uninstalled iTunes, and tried to reinstall it but there was an error with QuickTime. Now, when I try to open QuickTime it says "Quicktime has stopped working," and it will not let me uninstall it from my computer. I just want iTunes back, but I cannot have iTunes without QuickTime. =/

Okay. Let's proceed on the assumption that it is just a badly broken QuickTime, then.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from Microsoft:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Now launch the Utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp and reboot the PC.
Next we'll clear away the leftover program files and folders. (These are 64-bit system instructions, which differ a little from 32-bit system instructions.)
    Go "Start > Computer".
In Computer, open "Local Disk (C:)" or whichever drive your *program files* are stored on.
Open the "Program Files (x86) Folder".
Right-click on the QuickTime folder and select "Delete".
Go back into "Local Disk (C:)" or whichever drive your *operating system* is installed on.
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "sysWOW64" folder.
Right-click the QuickTime file and select "Delete".
Right-click the QuickTimeVR file and select "Delete".
Empty your Recycle Bin and restart the Computer.
Now try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly? If so, do iTunes and QuickTime launch properly now?

  • "Skype has stopped working" Error Message Windows 8.1 Skype 7.6

Hi, I just now installed the desktop version, I was previously using the other Windows 8 version, not sure what it's called but that doesn't matter. I was trying to call my friend and it said there was a problem with my mic. Well I bought a new mic and came home and it said there was a problem with my mic. I uninstalled it and installed the desktop version, thinking it would work better, but the desktop version tells me that it cannot detect my soundcard and to reboot my laptop. Upon starting up at the welcome screen, I continued to log in, and wait for my programs to load up. I opened skype, it closes without showing up, three more times I do this before running as admin. It tries to load and then gives me the crash report "Skype has stopped working" and says windows will let me know when they find a fix.

  • Skype has stopped working - message on windows 8.1...

This error message comes out everytime I start the desktop version...
The app from windows store though works , but I do not enjoy using it at all... the desktop client was always far better.
The problem rose when I upgraded my windows 8 to 8.1 , and since then the desktop client is always forced to close with a message that it has stopped working.
I did a few things that I found reading through posts where people were looking for help with their skype issues:
    uprgraded my graphics card
    disabled my integrated webcamera
    uninstalled java
    installed older skype versions
tried to rename the roaming skype directory to old_skype
    disabled automatic updates
but... once again i'm helpless, and it seems that none of those solutions I found is at least a bit helpful for me...
I'm pretty much desperate ( I apologize if I did write my post into the wrong place)

  • Skype 7.7 Crashes on Windows 10 | "Skype has stopped working"

Hi all!First of all, I would like to say that I recently upgraded to Microsoft Windows 10 from 8.1 as of this morning. I love it, but there is one problem; my Skype client won't start up. As soon as I boot it up, it says "Skype has stopped working. Windows will try to find a solution", or something along those lines. I have uninstalled Skype, renamed the folder, disabled my firewall, deleted files in my %temp% and Skype folder, etc. etc. to no avail. When I did a DxDiag it said no problems were found in every category. However. I did find an interesting entry in the log that might be of help, so here it is. See this thread:

    FIX:
    1. You need Time Machine
    2. Go to folder /Library/CoreMediaIO/Plug-Ins/DAL/
    3. Copy AppleCamera.plugin to good place (usb memory stick is the best place).
    4. Go to Time machine in date that skype work fine.
    5. Change AppleCamera.plugin with file from Time Machine
    6. Restart system, Now skype need to work with camera.
    If that doesnt pass,

Try to reset all Skype settings.
Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata% and then press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old.
Next go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %temp%\skype and then press Enter or click the OK button. Delete the DbTemp folder.
    Restart Skype.
N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder.

It seems it occurred after an app update last night.  I have connected my help desk they have reported it Skype.  Skype does not provide phone assistance.
