My skype is not opening

Good evening,
I have did a clean boot recently on my computer to solve another problem caused by the computer.
Apparently, after the boot, it causes my skype not to be open (used to be working perfectly well)
I have tried reinstalling the latest version but to no avail.
The skype program is still running in my task manager although the application did not appear.
Please advise.

I went through five different online support agent of skype, they escalated my issue to advanced team who finally said reinstalled windows. it still didn't help. I bought a new computer, installed windows 7 and upgraded with sp1 and others.
and yet skype still deson't work. I spent 6 months trying to fix this problem and nobody ever had this issue as far as I know. I tried every solution possible listed on community as well.
I am willing to pay someone who can thinks he can solve the problem. skype opens on safe mode only. otherwise "skype has stopped working"

My Skype Will Not Open, HELP

Ok, I need help, this problem happend a couple weeks/months ago but I dealt with it up until now, my Skype will not open I only see a Skype Window when I log out, but only a tiny fraction of it, I tried Restore, Maximize, and move but none of these help, I tried looking for other help on here but none matched my problem, if someone can please help me, please do, none of my friends can help me, I have a feeling that my Skype window is somewhere off of my screen, somewhere I can't see it...

I have Win 7.
The latest Skype version 6.11
when I turn on skype I don't hear that creepy start up sound. sometimes I do. when I try to change my status it won't let me. it just don't do anything.
when I try to call I don't hear the calling sound. no one can see/accept my calls. I can't accept anyone's calls either.
when I try to call someone and try to hang up it won't do it. it just keep calling. no ringing sound at all.
when I try to quit the icon sits on the task bar (it says signed out). alt/crt/del doesn't show that Skype is runing so I can't close it at all. I have to reboot my PC to actually close it.
everything worked fine until last Sun 12/5.
I deleted completely from the PC, unistaled, and instaled. it won't work. not even older versions.
I have a laptop with Win Vista with 6.11 version Skype - and it works perfect.
I have another PC with Win7 (my son's) - with Win7 and 6.11 verson Skype - it works
it works fine on Android Tablet and iPad.
I have done nothing that could do what it did.
Do you think that that latest change of gadgets could harm Skype?

After downloading and installing new software for AirPort Extreme from the Appstore, Skype will not open.

Did you repair permissions and restarted your computer after the installation?
Skype has their own forums for Mac users. You should post there if the above does not work.

Safari quits, Software Update quits, Skype does not open, Meesenger too.

Downloaded latest Security update and Safari 3.1 plus latest Airport Extreme Firmware up date. All works well on my Powerbook (1.25) however its all gone funny on my wifes iMac (800).
1. Safari quits for no raeson.
2. Software Update tries to open but quits half way through.
3. Skype does not open at all.
4. Messenger does not open at all
Help, what is happening,does anybody know/can help.

Same is happening to me, most internet related applications won't start.
As far as I understand, this is related to the WebKit, which has been obviously changed in the latest Software update.
Having said that, I would also appreciate if anybody could give some help on how to restore a working WebKit.

My Skype will not open.

I'm having a problem. My Skype won't open and I've tried everything that I can find. This support forum isn't the easiest thing to get to in order to ask questions either. I have Windows 7, I've tried installing and uninstalling, I've tried renaming it Old_Skype, and I'm really frustrated at this point. Can someoene please help me with this? I need step by step assistance, and I would be very happy if I can get a solution to this.

Okay... I still need more specific instructions. I'm attaching a screen shot of what I see when I open it. You really need to spell it out to me because there are a lot of things I can click on and I don't understand this. I have 4 degrees, so I'm not an idiot, this just isn't my field.

Skype will not open... at all

i don't know if i'm typing in the right thread or what, but simply said, skype doesn't even open-- I don't even get to the login window, I don't even get a window for that matter. the problem started yesterday when I was on skype and suddenly it just closed out of no where.
I tried restarting my computer to fix the problem yet that didn't work.
i've tried pretty much every possible "solution" there is to this problem and still I dont have skype working. i've uninstalled around four times, i tried installing a previous version of skype, i tried deleting the temporary folder in %appdata%, i tried renaming the skype folder and opening it, i've tried running on different compatibility modes... you name it, i've done it, and nothing works.
skype doesn't even show up in the processes of task manager.
any help will be extremely appreciated... thanks.

Please, run the DirectX diagnostics tool (32-bit mode).
Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.
Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.

New Skype will not open , old will not sign in .

I am using a Vodafone Smart II w/ stock Android 2.3.7 & WiFi (home/office network)
I downloaded today the latest version of skype from Google play , and it won, t open after installation. Cleared data and rebooted , nothing happens.
THen i downloaded earleir version of Skype from this site (http://en.uptodown.com/android) and all version from 4.5 and upwards won t run , whereas version 4.02, 4.01 , 3.2 will open smoothly , but they won t sign in . Tried the data rebooting routine as mell as two different accounts, but nothing changes .

Hello, try to log off of any logged-on sessions in skype then uninstall all previous versions and reinstall the latest version from Skype's download page listed at the link below.

Sometimes if logged into Skype from multple places or there are multiple versions conflicting with one another, it might not work properly.

Skype does not open anymore, saying that it suddenly stopped. It does work on my iphone though.

About one month ago when opening skype it says: Skype suddenly stopped.
Reinstalling did not help and the skype app on my iphone does work normally.
Before that Skype did work on my macbook pro.
Does anybody know the solution to this problem?

Skype won't open, can't install any new software

Having initially been unable to install the latest version of Skype for Mac (v2.8) - a problem I seemingly overcame - I am now unable to open Skype at all.
I use Mac OS X 10.4.11. I have used Skype v2.7 for months with no problems. When I attempted to upgrade to v2.8, I had various problems with the installation process.
The program downloaded okay, but would give me an error message when I tried to open it to add it to my 'Applications' folder, saying 'disk image failed to mount - codec overrun'. I Googled this problem and found I could avoid it by hitting 'skip' before the error message appeared. Sure enough, the box appeared with the Skype icon which allowed me to drag it into 'Applications'.
However, even though I now have dragged the Skype icon to my 'Applications folder' and it appears to have have copied successfully, Skype will not open at all. When I attempt to open Skype, the icon simply bounces once on my dock and then stops. The program cannot be opened through any other means that I can find. Please help, as I use Skype regularly to keep in touch with my family back home.

Very Important, how much Free Space is on your Hard Drive first of all? Click on the Macintosh HD on the Desktop, then do a Get Info on it.
Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, test if things work OK in Safe Mode. Reboot.
Download a new copy...

After sinc-ing my ipod touch with my MacBok Pro, Skype icon on ipod touch does not open to Skype communication community service. I tried to download Skype from Apps Store using itunes, but received message that i need iOS 4.3...What should i do? how can i download iOS 4.3 - where can I find it?

- If you have a 2G iPod those can ony go to 4.2.1 so the crrent verion of Skype will not install.
- Do y have a version of Skyupe on your computer or in a computer backup? If yu do they you can delete the on the iPod and reinstall the app vis syncing with iTunes.
- If you do not have a copy, then delete the an Skype from iTunes on your computer and transfer iTune spurchases to the computer. this copy the Skhpe app to the computer/iTunes
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
- Then delete the App from the iPod and sync the app back to the iPod.
- Then try try the following:
- A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

harminder@apple - any luck? Try this, open Finder and press command-shift-G and copy and paste:
~/Library/Application Support/Skype
In this Skype folder: delete the file shared.xml and restart Skype.
See if this helps.

Skype chat links are not opening in firefox on Mac

Hello,
I have Mac book pro running OS 10.6.8 "Snow Leopard", skype 6.15 (335), and my default browser is Firefox version 32.0.3.
Recently I experience a problem when someone send me a link it dose not open in Firefox, actually it switch to Firefox when I click on the link on Skype chat but no new tab is opening. I have to right click the link and then choose "Open URL" to get the link.
If you have any suggestions please help.

I had a similar problem on a website when a particular page was writing on the screen. This particular page later discovered contained a code that disabled anything from being clicked on or selected etc. It was as though there was an invisible windows in front (literally there was). I removed the code and everything went back to normal.
Nothing wrong with Firfefox, Windows or Ubuntu. Incidentally, windows Internet Explorer v8 didn't have a problem since it was not up to date to handle the new CSS code. :)
Here's the code that prevented anything on the page from being clicked:

Most likely it got injected there without the user being aware of it. This was injected back in march 2012 so since then the browsers did not pick it up and just plainly ignored the code until new browser updates got installed to handle the css code.
I have no idea how it got there but my best guess would be a silent plugin of which I have no idea which one.
The above code is some form of style sheet code that puts a layer in front of the page. It would be put into good use in stopping people from selected the page contents or to do damage to there site. You can perhaps put it over images from stopping people downloading using browser right click save image command.
I hope this would help those who are having the problem.

Mail, Skype, Safari and some system preferences not opening

I wonder if anyone else has had this problem....my mac starts up but seems to skip loading things at the loading screen when it boots - When it gets to the desktop, Skype, mail (mac default program), and Safari do not open when clicked - I tried to go to user accounts in system preferences and that fails to open also - AIM, Fireofx and Transmit (FTP program) all work fine and are able to connect to the interent - It has done this before (months ago) and I ended up having to do a system restore to go back to factory settings - Yesterday it started this again and after 1/2 hour mail just popped open and all was well - It has been on for 4 hours so far and none of those programs are working - Has anyone else had issues like this ? any suggestions? I am using a Power Mac G5 cpu 1.8ghz and 1.25 gb of ram and 10.3.9 for system version - Any help is greatly appreciated

Have you done the basics? Repaired permissions, cleared caches, run cron jobs, booted from DVD and run disk repair etc.?
It seems that when you did a restore, which I presume is an archive and install, it cleared up then over time whatever you do is corrupting things or the drive is on its last legs. Add a new drive (cheap) , clone the boot drive to it with Super Duper (free) and boot from that for a while.

Can not open SKYPE on OS 10.3

I am living in Thailand - and SKYPE could be the ultimate solution for me, to speak with my friends and family in Germany. What a pity, that SKYPE does not work on my Macintosh G4 with OS 10.3.
The system requirements of my Mac are okay, the download of SKYPE was fine, and the installation was more than easy. But when I double click the SKYPE application in the application folder, the icon appears for one second in the dock of OS 10.3 - then it disappears again and the program does not start.
I repeated the installation for three times - with the same result: The program still does not start.
Any ideas where the problem is - and what I can do against it?

Do you have OS 10.3.9? You need to have this before you can use Skype. If you haven't, you can easily download the 10.3.9 combo from Apple Downloads. Make sure you verify/re[air per missions both before and after the download.
If you have already got 10.3.9, then something is obviously going wrong with your installation of Skype. When you double click on the DMG, it should open a folder with the Skype application in it, you only put the Skype icon in applications, not the whole folder. Once you do this it should open with a double click. I find it easier to keep the Skype icon in the dock.
