My Skype number is displayed wrong to those I call...

Hello,
It seems anyone I call from my Skype number is seeing a totally different number displayed on their device than my own. Can someone please tell me how to fix that or how to contact Skype chat. I really need my proper number displayed when I make a call. It's creating a problem for me. I'm operating on a Mac OSX 10.8.5 and have a 3 month Skype subscription.

Also, when you say, "My skype number is constantly busy when I am called (and I am not using it!),"
... please note that the Skype Number will not "ring busy" - if you are using Skype, incoming calls would be diverted according to your Tools -> Options settings. The Skype Number provides a phone number for people to reach you, but the number has nothing to do with outbound calls you place.

Hello, I have had my Skype number for several years and it's been no problem for those with Caller ID to have my Skype number displayed when receiving a call from me. However, the past few months this has changed dramatically. Yes, I have read that FAQ and I realize Caller ID does not work for all countries. But that same FAQ indicates that Caller ID is available for the U.S. And this is where I make the majority of my calls. However, as I mentioned in my original post, my Caller ID has NOT been displayed for several months. What is displayed are randomly changing phone numbers and names that have no bearing whatsoever with anything related to my actual Skype number or name. I've done my own testing when calling my home phone from Skype. I'll call multiple times in quick succession and I will get different results each and every time. Skype Number Automatic Answering - Wrong Person's ...

I have just subscribed to a Skype Number. Every time when someone calls this number and I am off line, the automated answering service quotes a name that is not the name registered under my Skype account. How do I rectify this?

Please contact Skype Customer Service directly to request your new Skype Number be checked. Unfortunately, things like this do occur from time to time.

Skype is aware of lingering website issues. Temporarily enabling scripts, pop-up dialog boxes, and disabling plug-ins which could prohibit pop-ups may help get past website problems. If you experience difficulty reaching Skype Customer Service or find yourself redirected back to the Community, please try again using a different web browser and choosing a different path through the various drop-down menu options presented.
Also, look to approve a pop-up dialogue box which would connect you to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent. If you have pop-ups blocked in your browser settings, this will also block reaching an agent.
Last and not least, when you reach the last step of the process, remember to click on the "Start Chat" link when you are provided the choice of visiting the Community or starting an instant message chat with a customer service agent.

Skype number is busy when people try to call me ?p...

When i got my skype number it was busy when someone tried to call me and my skype was online . I changed my skype to only friends on skype list logged out for 5 minutes then logged in and changed it back to everyone can contact me. Been 3 days now and still no joy on my chefdamo account

when you call your STG access number, you are then causing a SkypeOut call to be launched on your behalf, which is why you need credit or a calling subscription

What concerns me is that, skype has a new service now - a Skype Number,where friends, family, customers can contact me on my skype number for which I pay every month. Perhaps I'm wrong but I thought that Caller ID is the same as my mobile phone number which I use with skype. Where Skype number I need to choose from what is available now from a specific area eg. London. I'd like to have one number which is visible for my customers when I'm calling them myself, and is available and ready to use for them when they want to call me. I spent a while trying to seriously diagnose this problem with Skype support a year ago, but didn't get anywhere; I came to the conclusion that there was something wrong with the network at my end. But it's irritating me again now, so I thought I'd check whether anyone else gets this problem. It's incoming calls only, to the skype number only. I can recieve incoming calls from Skype fine, I can make outgoing calls to Skype and to telephone numbers fine, the problem affects both Skype on my Android Mobile (when it's connected to my home WiFi) and Skype on my Windows Desktop - so, not a software configuration thing.
When making a test call from my mobile to my Skype In number, it drops at the Skype end several seconds before the mobile notices the line is dead; definitely dropping out at the Skype level, and not the telephone network level.

I have referred your report to those to whom I report; I am not affiliated with Skype Customer Service.
What you so well describe here, a number transfer (highlighted by me in orange type) is not something Skype has the facility to do:
None would agree to moderate between myself and the current number holder to do a transfer. If that person simply gives up the number it would be a 90 day wait with no way to guarantee I'd get the number back. They need to do a transfer as this is the only way to make it work. I have no way to contact them aside from calling the number and leaving voicemails.
In the system's simplicity, there is no flexibility.
Just out of curiosity ... and curiosity alone, have you checked the e-mail address on your account to double-check it is the correct registered e-mail address? I ask because I recently did a Skype Number renewal, and I received e-mail alerts every step of the way.

Is my Skype Number crossed with another user?

I have a Skype subscription that includes a Skype number. The last week I am getting no fewer than 10 dropped calls within a five minute conversation.
Today however, a strange occurrence took place. I dialled a landline number selecting from my contact list, as usual, but another person connected with my caller at the same time.
This obviously made me and my contact quick off-set. It would appear that my Skype number is crossed somehow.
Should I seek to change my existing Skype number as a precaution? If it is possible, how do I proceed?

Were calls to your Skype Number, which you answered on Skype, being dropped frequently?
Dialing a land-line number uses your subscription to cover the costs of the outgoing call. Remember, a Skype Number exists only to receive incoming calls -- a Skype Number is a land line number that people use to call you, and you answer those calls on Skype. A Skype Number (inbound) is not related to placing calls (outbound).
Was a call to your Skype Number, which you answered, suddenly interrupted by another caller, without a conference call started?

UK Skype Number on iPhone 5s

Hi,
I am doing this for the first time. I am currently travelling alot and as such need to be contactable on a central number. I would like that central number to be a UK number from skype where people from the US, UK and the Middle East can call me.
However in addition I was wondering, since I have the skype application on my iphone 5s, if there was a way that when someone calls me from the US, UK or the Middle East on the Skype UK number, if I can make it so that the number ports the call to my local number of the country I am in?
For example, I am in the North of India at the moment. And say I have obtained a UK skype number. Someone from the Middle East calls me on the UK skype number and diverts to my India mobile number. However I dont want the caller to know that I am in India or that the call was diverted to my India number. I want the caller to still think he/she is calling a UK number. This would be the ideal scenario.
However, I think what does happen and am not sure . . . in the same above scenario . . . when the person calls the UK skype number, it rings on my iphone but it rings on the skype application which means while the person thinks they are still calling the UK number, I am limited to always being around WIFI in order to accept the call. If I am out and about with no WIFI, I cannot get the call. What happens to the call then - does it go into some sort of voice mail where once I am within WIFI range I can return the persons call back?
The other question I have - what happens when I call the person from the skype application. Is there a way that I can call overseas and have them only see the UK skype number that I have obtained from skype?
Any advise on what is the best method for me to follow so that people can reach me on one central number that is a UK based number and they think they are calling a UK number no matter where in the world I am. AND when I call them all they see on their end is the same UK number. And of course I would love for the solution to be economic in terms of cost and not to technical to use as I am not technical - I prefer the phone rings and I pick or I pick the phone and I call kind of easy process . And of course it should be compatible for my iphone 5s

iOS 7 will offer call blacklisting, which in reality is not true call blocking. It allows a call to connect, compares the caller ID information with a database of blacklisted numbers, and if a match is there, it hangs up the call without ever riniging.
The feature is part of iOS 7, not specific to the iPhone 5s at all.

I got a skype number yesterday and I have been receiving calls from customers of a travel website who seem to have disappeared.
Can I get my skype number changed?

My skype number is going to someone else's voicema...

I got my Skype number few days back, and when I call it from another phone it simply goes to someone's voicemail. Why is this so? And how to fix it? NOTE: I have set the privacy settings for my account and Skype phone to be called from anywhere/anyone.

are you sure it's not your own Skype Voicemail (VM) service?
are you signed into a Skype client so you can receive the incoming call without it going to VM?
if you are sure it is some foreign VM service, then you should contact customer service
