My skype number is going to someone else's voicema...

I got my Skype number few days back, and when I call it from another phone it simply goes to someone's voicemail. Why is this so? And how to fix it? NOTE: I have set the privacy settings for my account and Skype phone to be called from anywhere/anyone.

are you sure it's not your own Skype Voicemail (VM) service?
are you signed into a Skype client so you can receive the incoming call without it going to VM?
if you are sure it is some foreign VM service, then you should contact customer service

Re: Skype number the same as someone else's number...

I have a similar issue. Someone is calling me relentlessly using my own skype number. I need to keep it open to get business calls, so I can't restrict access. I have the number associated with all my business accounts, and I need to keep it. How can I protect my number? I bought it years ago, the problems have only started since skype's purchase by microsoft.

Cancelling a Skype Number subscription is the same as cancelling any subscription: sign on to the Skype website or transfer to your account from your Skype client software, and click on the Manage Subscriptions: Skype Number, and cancel (please see screen shot, below; the "cancel" button is highlighted in orange). How can I stop someone from receiving iMessages on their old disconnected iPhone, w'hich is still active in iMessage, when the number now belongs to someone else with a non apple device!?!

To further clarify my dilemma ....
A friend of mine just got a new phone number on her LG cell phone.
When I try to text her, my messages are going to someone else's iPhone.
The iPhone has been deactivated off the VZ cell network, but they are still using it on WIFI.
They used to have this number on their iPhone, and it's still active in iMessage.
So, when I try to send a text message to my friend on her LG, from my iPhone,
they instead go to this total stranger, cuz they still have that number active in their iMessage account.
This is a serious issue!!
The only suggestion I get from apple support is to have my friend get a new number, or for me to turn off iMessage when I want to text her.
Not really the optimum solution.
Something really should be done to prevent this from happening!
Strangers are effectively intercepting text messages!

An icloud account is designed to be used by just one user. If you have given your ID or set up your account on someone else's device, then their data will be mingled with your or worse.

The new machine has Mavericks which is fine. And I will leave it as is. I don’t want anything from my old machine other than 2 apps that I will need on the new one. I want to be able to install those apps that I bought from the App Store onto my new computer. I assume Apple doesn’t want me to have the apps installed on 2 machines at the same time so I wonder if just uninstalling them from my old machine will release them for re-install on the new one.

I recieved a email two days ago saying that my skype number will be deactivated in the next two days. Today is the last day to renew it. Skype must have tried to charge my pay pal account since that was the last time how I paid for it. I switch over to my card so it can be billed, but it doesn't allow you to pay for it. It just allows you to change your billing method. This number is what I use for my office line and any assistance in this matter will be appreciated. Thanks!

It seems to be a problem with Facebook connection.
My Facebook ID is linked to my skype account.
I tried sending a message to a friend and the message comes to me.
Now, other people that send messages to her, it seems to come to my account.
How do I fix this?

Please disconnect your Facebook account from your Skype one:

Then connect again. Might be a wrong login was active on Facebook while you set up the initial link.

Facetime call goes to someone else?

okay so i sold my iPhone 5 months ago on ebay. i deleted everything from it before i shipped it out. but when my friend FaceTimes me, it sometimes goes to the guy who bought it. its been so long that i sold it that i cant find it on my history on eBay. the call will either go to my Macbook or it will go to him. she clicks on my iTunes email but it sometimes goes to him. how is this possible? i deleted my info off the phone and i also unregistered everything from iTunes. any help?

i did that. all that was shown was my old ipad mini, an old ipod, and an old iphone 4 and 3GS but i dont see the iphone 5. when i sold it, i sold it as jailbroken. i didnt fully wipe the device. i used some jailbreak tools that kinda did like a factory reset but still kept the jailbreak. before i shipped it, i know my itunes account wasnt on it. would not fully wiping it could have caused this?

Carriers will generally only authorize unlocking for the last person to use the phone on their network. If not you, your only choices are to either establish service yourself, then request the phone be unlocked, or get whoever used it last on the network to request the unlock.

You will need to contact Skype Customer Service to resolve this; you may need to have this subscription cancelled and refunded, and take out a new Skype Number subscription. We here in the Community do not have the tools to do this.

Skype is aware there can be problems reaching their customer support unit via the website. If you experience difficulty reaching Skype Customer Service, try again using a different web browser and choosing a different path through the various drop-down menu options presented. Also, look to approve a pop-up dialogue box which would connect you to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent. If you have pop-ups blocked in your browser settings, this will also impede reaching an agent.

Someone else has my skype landline number

I bought a skype landline number for my business and I occasionaly get calls on it . Most people use my mobile number or email. Every now and again I will get a phonecall with someone asking for a totally different company. At first I thought that this was just a mix up as it didnt happen very often but today I got the name of the website the person got the number from and it is the EXACT SAME landline number as my own! Ive searched the forums and tried to find a was to contact skype to no avail.
Anyone know how to fix this? I want to know where the problem lies before contacting this other company.

imo, only two possibilities are likely
either someone else had your Skype Number IN THE PAST (this is to be expected, and it is commonplace for carriers to delay re-cycling a number), or the website has a simple 'typo'
there's not much Skype can do -- you can cancel your Skype Number and get another one if you wish, but I'd suggest you start by contacting the webmaster of the site that is publishing your number
