My Skype number may already be in use?

Ever since I created my Skype number I have been receiving phone messages for another person, as if the number I received was already in use. Is it possible to change my Skype number in such a case?

Please contact Skype Customer Service to report the number you chose and, if you know it, the name of the party who is still receiving calls on your new number.  It could be the people who are calling are not aware of the previous user's new contact details, and that what is now your Skype Number may still be appearing on business cards and stationery are still in circulation citing what is now your Skype Number.
Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service  As you know you wish to contact Customer Service, skip past Step 2 of the instruction and proceed to Step 3, Continue Support Request.  You may also skip past Step 4 where it is recommended for you to check the Community -- you have just done this!

If you experience difficulty reaching Skype Customer Service or find yourself redirected back to the Community, please try again using a different web browser and - very important! - choosing a different path through the various drop-down menu options presented.
    Also, look to approve a pop-up dialogue box which would connect you to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent.  If you have pop-ups blocked in your browser settings, this will also block reaching an agent.  Please see also this:

    I got a skype number yesterday and I have been receiving calls from customers of a travel website who seem to have disappeared. 
    Can I get my skype number changed?

  • Is there any way to receive SMS on a Skype number?

    I just purchased a Skype number today and will be using Skype via the Skype app on my iPhone.  I've set up voicemail and have already testing calling out to a regular number from my Skype app/number and having someone call in to my Skype number.  It works great but the issue is with SMS texting.
    I realize that although I have the $2.99 plan for unlimited US/Canada calling that it does not include SMS text messaging. I realized I need Skype credit for that so just purchased $10 of Skype credit.  I see that it costs 11.2 cents to send an SMS text to a US based phone number.  Here is the issue.  If I read correctly you can only send an SMS text from a Skype number and there's no way you can receive a SMS text at a Skype number.  Is this true?  Since most of my communication is via SMS this means that Skype would be of very little use to me.
    Is there any way you can have Skype forward incoming SMS texts to your regular cell phone number?  Although this isn't my preference I realize people will try to send SMS texts to my Skype number. I don't want to forward voice calls to my cell # but if I'm able to forward SMS texts from my Skype number when they come in to my regular cell phone # this would solve that problem.

    I would recommend testing the SMS reply forwarding to your mobile number.  Depending upon the results and if this works for you, you could then contact Skype Customer Service to cancel and request a refund.
    In other words, SMS will be received via your mobile number, not via your Skype Number.

  • Skype number payment FAILED Due to change in debit...

    1.) My 3-month reoccuring billing cycle for Skype number: xxx xxx xxxx failed due to the debit card number changed.
    2.) I have deleted ALL other payment methods and inserted the current active card (ending in xxx xxxx but the xxxxxxxx  Swedish Krona owing has yet to be retreived and paid.
    3.) It appears my Skype number may be cancelled? I do NOT want to lose the use of this number!
    4.) Am quite upset that I can't speak or chat LIVE with a Skype representative!
    5.) How I use my Skype number: xxx xxx xxxx This is an L.A. Area Code, from which I receive incomming calls. I have a GOOGLE VOICE account, which I use for making ALL outgoing calls, I do NOT use Skype for this purpose (only incomming).

    2. Please tell us why you were unable to contact Customer Service.

    I would like to get a skype number and get a yearly subscription for unlimited calling to america.   I understand that there is a discount for doing them together though I cant seem to find what it is and how much it will cost me monthly for such a plan.

    You can get a discount when you purchase a Skype Number depending on which subscription duration you prefer. However, this may only happen if you have an active calling subscription during your purchase.

    Hello Skype Team,
    I have just bought my new Skype Number that I have to use for 2-3 months only.
    When I go to Manage Feature >> Settings, it says that my next payment shall be made in August, 2014 whereas I dont want the recurring payment to occur.
    Please note that my purpose of buying Skype number is to receive calls only.

    Simply cancel the subscription.  Your Skype Number will remain active until the end of the three month term - in other words, Skype subscriptions do not cancel effective the date of cancellation; subscriptions cancel on what would have been the renewal date.

    Once you have verified your Caller ID, please remember that your Skype Number may not always appear as Caller ID - the data may not transfer from Skype to the endpoint carrier, whether it be mobile or fixed line, so the call recipient may not see your Skype Number.

  • Skype Number Expired -- but it's not

    I really hate the notion of posting to a forum when I want a proper "contact us" on this website.
    Why does Skype tell me that my number is expiring but doesn't allow me to continue the subscription?

    could you please provide screenshots for what you see on your Skype Number tab and in your Skype Number settings, if neither of cases below seems to apply for you?
    Skype Number tab:
    If your Skype Number's expiry date is approaching, three different links can appear where I marked the yellow arrow:
    "Extend" link: if your Skype Number is not billed automatically but you have to pay for each billing period separately. When you click "Extend", you will be redirected to purchase of the same Skype Number for new billing period (you pay > the expiry date will move to 1, 3 or 12 months from your last expiry date).
    This "Expire" link is also displayed if the number has been allocated to you from Skype Manager (company account). In this case you can merely ask your Skype Manager administrator to prolong the number via a form (you will get there by clicking "Extend"), but it has to be manually managed from the admin account in Skype Manager (in Features > Skype Number page of SM admin). You cannot extend the number from your member account in this case.
    "Reactivate" link: if a) you have cancelled your Skype Number, or b) your Skype Number has already expired, you can click "Reactivate". In case of a), you would simply reactivate your number and it would continue to be active. In case of b), you have 90 days of reservation period to pay for your number and then it becomes active again.
    "Settings" link: if you have recurring payment set up for your Skype Number, which means you are billing automatically every 1, 3 or 12 months. Your number can be expiring because the last recurring payment has failed (it can be due to expired credit card, insufficient Skype credit or many other reasons). In this case, you have to go to your Skype Number settings and change payment method, see following screenshot:

But I've been having to buy credit a few times now because each time someone calls my skype number & i have it so it forwards to my mobile phone it's costing me to much ? Is there a cheaper way I can have my Skype number & receive incoming calls forwarded to my mobile phone? When I answer not on Skype, iPhone mobile phone number I pick the call from?? I subscribed to something I thought was it but I was rong because I still have no credit to receive calls to my mobile phone?

    A: Sure, you can answer calls from your iPhone for no additional charge by using Skype for iPhone! Sign in and your calls will ring there at the same time your computers signed onto Skype would!
    Q: When I'm not on Skype, can I pick the call up from my iPhone mobile number?
    A: Yes, but that requires Skype Credit or a calling subscription for calling out. Again, picking up from the iPhone app won't cost you more.

    I just signed up for a skype number subscription and it works just fine when calling from skype to mobile or landline but when my skype number is called from a mobile or landline it goes to a business that is already using that number. Who do i contact to get a different number?

    I have just bought a Skype number and when my contacts ring it, it is answered by another company. I have just had a conversation with this company and they are a legitimate business and "my" skype number is their legitimate phone number.  How can I cancel my Skype number?

    Apologies for this mix-up. Please contact Customer Support and let them know your assigned Skype Number is an existing number, so they can cancel your subscription and remove it from the database.
