My sleep mode not working right why?

My Mac Pro comes back on during the night when it's in sleep mode. Why?

It could be Bluetooth.  Do you have Bluetooth wireless mouse and keyboard?
I had this problem until recently.  It seems to have gone away since updating OS X to 10.8.5.
Open Console next time this happens to you.  Scroll to the point at which the machine went to sleep and then awakened.
If you see something like what I've pasted below, then you're bluetooth devices are waking the machine.

I hope this helps. But... I had the same problem last week. Now I don't as of 8/17/15. I am not sure if a windows 10 update fixed this. I do not like problems that without any assistance fix themselves. However, try sleep mode again. This problem may have been fixed.

  • Stand-by / sleep mode not working when USB is connected

    Hello!
When the USB cable from my 24" LED Cinema Display is connected to my new Mac Pro 2,66 GHz Quad-Core, the stand-by / sleep mode does not work correctly: the Mac Pro goes to sleep normally, then the LED behind the on-/off-button flashes one time and then the Mac Pro awakes from sleep mode without any user interaction.
I already tried to reset PRAM, I tested all three rear-side USB connectors (I did not test the front-side USB connectors because the display's cable is way too short), I unplugged all other USB and Firewire devices and also tried sleep mode from a freshly created account. Alas, nothing helps.
As soon as the display's USB connector is plugged in, sleep mode does not work any more. It even doesn't matter if there are USB devices plugged into the display. Without connecting the display's USB plug, sleep mode works fine.
    So, any ideas out there?
Thanks in advance & best regards!
    Mario.

I fixed the problem, so I just post this to help others that might run into the same trouble.
The Mac Pro and the display were connected to a master/slave power socket. The problem is: when the Mac Pro goes to sleep, there still seems to be some power left in the display (which socket is switched off by the master/slave power socket). Therefore, the display goes off slightly after the Mac Pro. This powering off seems to release a signal on the display's USB wire that is connected to the Mac Pro and therefore switches the Mac Pro on again.
So, this is the same effect as removing a USB device from the Mac during sleep mode, what (at least in most cases) also starts up the Mac again.
As a result, there seems to be no other solution to this problem than removing the display from the master/slave power socket. Sadly enough, the LED Cinema Display consumes other 2 watts in stand-by mode...
    Cheers!
    Mario.

  • Sleep mode not working properly on Macbook Pro

On my Macbook Pro everytime my mac enters sleep mode just the display goes to sleep never the system even after 8 hours. Checked the energy saver setting both display and computer are set to ten minutes. I can also never get the display to wake back up unless i do a hard reset. Any ideas? Thanks!

Does it now work only on battery? or using the power supply?
If only on the power supply use a grounded plug.
Otherwise try reseating touchpad cable. Post the size and year of your MBP.

  • Sleep mode not working properly in windows

I have a P67A-GD65 working fine (THANK GOODNESS!) but I have a small annoyance.. It wont wake up from sleep mode unless the power button is pressed! How can I change this to wake up on say, when I click a button on my mouse or my keyboard or even move the mouse? I have the latest bios installed. Thanks!

Depends if you have USB or PS/2 KB/mouse
Resume From S3 by USB Device
The item allows the activity of the USB device to wake up the system from S3 (Suspend
    to RAM) sleep state.
      Resume From S3/S4/S5 by PS/2 Mouse/ Keyboard
These items determine whether the system will be awakened from what power saving
modes when input signal of the PS/2 mouse/ keyboard is detected.

  • Sleep mode not working after iMac WLAN Update 1.0

    Hello,
unfortunately the sleep mode isn't working anymore after the latest "iMac WLAN Update 1.0" update.
Usually I press cmd+alt+eject to activate the sleep mode, since the update the screen switches off (black) for a second and immediately turns on again. Fans and HD keep running without any interruption.
Same behaviour if I use the "sleep mode" command from the Apple menu, except the screen turns off and keeps off, but fans and HD are still running.
The iMac never activates the sleep mode by itself (e.g. after 15 minutes), this also a new "feature" which occured after the update.
Is there anyone recognizing the same problems? Any hints how it can be solved?
Thank you very much in advance,
    Oliver

I finally found the solution in a German newsgroup. First: It has nothing to do with the "iMac WLAN Update 1.0" .
A unsuccessful printer job caused the problem and just open the CUPS site http://127.0.0.1:631/jobs and delete the hanging job solved the problem!
    Thanks,
    Oliver

  • Macbook Pro Not Working Right Why???

    Hello,
I just got a new Macbook Pro. It worked fine for a couple of weeks and now there are multiple problems. Everytime I press the space bar my computer scolls down and whenever I press the delete button it backs up a page even if I am typing and am just trying to delete a letter. This is very frustrating when typing something very important and then losing it. Also Safari crashes alot of times. I am not computer savey so I might have done something wrong but am not sure what. Has this happened to other people or just me?
    Thank you

This could be a number of problems... not likely something you did wrong.

  • Sleep mode not working in Windows 8.1 on pavilion x2 11-h010ca

    Hello,
I've done 2 fresh installs from the HP recovery, then upgrading to 8.1 with all patches, but this hasn't helped.
    What I've discovered is this:
    - Using the standard Windows video driver:  the machine will sleep and resume properly, but I cannot control the brightness (it's always 100% bright).
    - If I install the Intel driver from the Intel site (or HP's site), I can control brightness. When I put the machine to sleep, then resume, it crashes. It takes a few tries to bring it back up, but it always does a full restart.
I've installed all the latest updates through the HP tools on here, but hasn't helped in any way.
Help on this would be great.. Thanks.

That doesn't seem to help at all. Symptoms are the same - When I press the power button to bring it out of sleep, it buzzes briefly and the screen stays black.

  • IPad 2 was updated to latest iOS 7 and has been not working right since. I have tried to do a restore but still continues to go into reboot mode by itself and very erratic. Can no longer trust it. I tried to complain to Apple but have to give them 20 buck

iPad has not worked right since it updated to latest software. Tried to question Apple about it but it costs 20 bucks just to lodge a complaint. Is this normal Apple behavior or am I missing something. Also anyone else having issues with upgrade to iOS7. It was working great until that point and now goes into reboot mode often and sometimes will continuously reboot several times. I have tried to restore but that didn't clear the problem. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

    Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.

  • Is there any way to redownload iOS 5 my iPod touch 4 th generation white 32 gig is not working right?

My iPod is not working right. It's slow and lags and just doesn't work and always exits apps. I was if there was any way to redownload ios5 because it does the same things after I've reset about 4 times. Please help! It's even lagging why I am typing this. The thing that I checked below are all of the things that are not working on my iPod.

You cannot reinstall iOS without doing a restore. But you might first try a software update. If you have iOS 5.0 or 5.0.1, you can update to iOS 5.1 by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

  • HT4623 My iPad mini is not working right ?? On some apps

My iPad mini is not working right on some apps

You can always try to reset your device and see if it helps matters any:
    Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
    1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
    2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
    3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.

  • Since updating to 706 the sound on my ipad2 is not working right. On videos or music. There is constant distortion and what sounds like interference. Any ideas?

Since updating to 706 the sound on my ipad2 is not working right--on videos or music. There is distortion and some kind of interference at all times. Any ideas?

Has the unit EVER been jailbroke?
If "No," first try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

  • Safari 5.1.2 Not working right after install

Hi, after installing the update for Snow Leopard safari is not working right. Some pages don't load, and other don't load correctly.
I have to keep hitting refresh two or three times. Also thunbnails are not displaying. Even the apple page comes up looking buggy.
    Please help!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. First, disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard, mouse, monitor, and Ethernet, if applicable. Boot in safe mode and log in as yourself. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
During startup, you will see "Safe Boot" on the login screen, which appears even if you normally log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Safe mode is slower than normal, and some things won’t work at all, perhaps including wireless networking on certain Macs. If you usually connect to the Internet via WiFi, and it doesn’t work in safe mode, connect using an Ethernet cable. If you can’t do that, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and perform a safe login, as follows: Enter your credentials at the login screen, then hold down the shift key and click the “Log in” button. Keep holding the key until the menu bar appears. In this mode, your login items, among other things, won’t load.
In safe mode, test again. Same problem(s) now?
After testing, reboot (if you booted in safe mode) or log out/log in (if you performed a safe login) as usual.

  • LR2 to PS CS3 roundtrip not working right

I am sorry, but from where I am standing Adobe screwed up big.
In the first place, LR 2 is very slow on my MACPRO with 4 gigs, as slow as Aperture 1.5 was and was what made me switch from Aperture to Lightroom.
In the second place, PS roundtrip is not working right. LR2 sends the image to PS when I select edit in, but after I finish with the file in PS and close and save, the new file does not show up in LR 2. It is in the folder but not in the catalog. I either have to re-import the image or sync the folder. On either case, it is not stacked with the original.
    What's up??
Is there a setting or something? or just a big screw up from Adobe? Why isn't Adobe addressing this issues in public?

I am having the same problem with lr2. Mine will not round trip. It goes to CS3 but will not come back when saved in CS3. Strange thing is, after having LR2 since day one of release it did round trip a few times yesterday but today it is back to its habit of no round trip.
At times LR2 is slow and the brush tool is mostly unusable since it is so slow. Also sliders are very sticky.
If the Adobe boys and girls can get it working soon LR2 is great and I feel it has increased my quality.
