My Solution (Knock on Wood) to Safari, Ichat, Email problems

I started with my 4 month old Macbook loading Safari more and more slowly, followed by spotty internet connection, unable to find network, email going wacky, and Ichat crashing. After trying multiple suggestions,one or a combo of several seem to have worked. I am now online with consistency, can send and receive remail, and can use Ichat. Yeah! So in order of appearance, I changed my router to a different Linksys, took the laptop to my local Apple computer repair store who replaced the airport card, and spent literally hours on the phone with Linksys, Time Warner, and Apple. Linksys fixed my settings remotely for $9.95, Time Warner was useless, and Apple finally did a final fix by having me take out the battery, hold the power button down for 5 seconds, and replace battery. Apple also told me that my new router is not what I should have gotten as it is not an 802.11N. Live and learn. I did find that when I put the router on top of a thick book and changed the direction it is pointing, that my connectivity changed dramatically. Safari, iChat, Installer Problems!

I tried the update manager, and it said to update a few things. After the updates, I realized I can't use some things such as safari, ichat, and the installer. At least I downloaded Firefox, so I can use the internet. I'm running a Mac OS X 10.4.11. I don't know what to do, I tried everything!

I have repaired permissions. What happens exactly when I try to open these programs is the icon bounces for a few seconds, and nothing happens. Everything worked fine until I ran the system update. Is there a way to go back and undo the system update?

Ok...an update......actually there are many things not working with my computer now it seems....all of my system preferences/control panels, ichat, safari, sherlock, preview, stickies, mail, ical. Whenever I try to open any of these applications I just get the spinning little beachball and it freezes up in that application so I have to do a force quit.
One thing I did try was to boot up from the disk and 'repair permissions'.
But this did not seem to help.
This is quite frustrating to not be able to do anything on my computer.
If anyone has anything to offer I would much appreciate it.

SAFARI/ICHAT CRASHES AFTER 10.4.8

I just updated to tiger 10.4.8. Now I am unable to run Safari, iChat, or Software update for that matter. All programs start to run and then "close unexpectedly" I've tried fixing permissions and reinstalling the update to no avail. This is bad! Is there a way to go back to 10.4.7???

insert system dvd
hold "c" when starting
select language
select archive&install option (more info http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120-en)
restart
download your favourite release from http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/
install the update
restart
repair permissions
now you have clean system folder and library folder and all your date are safe.

Safari and Email stop working on iPhone 5

Hi all.
I have an iPhone5 with OS 7.1.1 (11D201) and my Safari and email have stop working. No acess to web or email even with wi-fi or 3G connection available. Safari gets a bank page and i don't even see my favorites web pages. On email, no sync on my both email accounts that i have configured. Other apps have acess to internet.
Any solution please?

Worked on the first 30 seconds and then no acess over 3G or wi-fi. Safari was blank and opening and closing by himself.

Safari page load problems and 10.5.3

Since I have upgraded to 10.5.3, I am experiencing Safari page load problems on all my user accounts on my 2.0 GHz Core Duo Black MacBook. I have reviewed threads in this forum and that of the Safari forum with no solution that solves the problem. so I post here in hopes of additional expert solution ideas.
*The Problem:* Since upgrading to 10.5.3 Safari fails to complete page downloads for some, but not all websites. When these same websites are accessed with Firefox there is no problem. With Safari the page load will stop at about 75% completion, or the page will not load at all.

I also have a G4 iMac running 10.4.11 on the same WiFi network that does NOT experience the Safari page load problems. All is good and speedy on this trusty machine.
*Solutions Attempted:*
- Deleted plist (with no effect)
- Re-installed Safari from Leopard disk (with no effect)
- Scoured User Preferences in Library for offending applications, plug-ins, etc.
- Reset PRAM
- Reset and examined cable modem and router (AirPort Extreme 802.11g)
*Hardware and Network info:*
- 2.0 GHz Core Duo Black MacBook
- 2 GB Ram
- AirPort Extreme Base Station (generation 1) running 802.11g

Yes. I have reset Safari clearing all but website icons with no effect. I also tried turning of the Safari pop-up blocker with some very limited success. Disabling pop-up blocker will marginally help page load speed for some websites, but others still fail to load at all.

I'm hooked up to the ethernet using DHCP with manual address. It's running (green) but my internet (Safari, messenger, email) doesn't work! Help!

I'm running an iMac with Mountain Lion. Not only do we do accounting work on this computer with AccountEdge, but the computer functions as a server to another computer in a different state.
Anyway, I set a static IP address (Using DHCP with manual address) on it (to allow for a VPN to the computer in the different state) and it is connected (green dot) - meaning that the other computer in the different state can connect to us via that ethernet line - but for some reason Safari, Messanger, and Apple Email won't work.
But if I switch a dynamic IP (DHCP auto), I can use the internet (Safari, messanger, email), but the computer in the different state can't connect to this computer.
How can I fix this so that the computer in the different state can connect to this computer and that the internet (Safari, messanger, and email) can work at the same time?

No but if they are using a VPN Tunnel for the connection that restricts all internet traffic over the tunnel. Which means you can't use that same computer to broswe the internet or connect to other computers or devices on your LAN.
I'd need to see the actual setup, router and the IP addresses you are using.
Networking and remote networking is fairly easy when you are in front of the systems you are working on. Doing it over the internet on a forum is almost impossible. Tha is why I suggested you get local help, like the person that originally set it up.

I can using AirPrint from safari and email to my hp printer but do not get print as an option from the pulldown menu from the new york times and other apps. How can I print directly from these apps?

I can't seem to print directly from apps like the new York times. Print is not an option from the pulldown menu. Print to my hp printer works fine from safari and email though and from some other apps. Do some apps not permit printing? That doesn't right.

Standard behavior is that Airprint always works with iBooks, Mail, Photos, and Safari. Apps are up to their author.

I bought an iMac a week ago and installed Firefox via Safari. It worked fine for a while but, after a recently switching on, it won't connect to the web whereas Safari has no problems.
I've tried following the Firefox Help, looking into the iMac firewall, but still no luck.
I've no idea whether related or not but yesterday I had a system glitch where the iMac stated no wi-fi was installed and only connected via a physical lead to my house router. Also, there was no sound output via Safari. However, after booting up today all seems well – apart from Firefox still not working. It loads the start page but can't access the web.
I have Little Snitch running, and wonder if that's the culprit... but it's working fine with Safari, seemingly.
(Finally, how do I stop a dialogue box appearing on start-up saying that "To open “X” you need a Java runtime. Would you like to install one now?)
Any ideas anyone?

On the wireless networks that your Mac has had trouble connecting to, do you know which Wireless Security type (WEP, WPA, or WPA2) is being used?
If it is WEP, one of the problems is that the actual standard relies on a 10 character HEX key for 40bit WEP and a 26 character HEX key for 128bit WEP. In order to make things easier, vendors use certain algorithms to convert simple alphanumeric passwords (or passphrases) into HEX keys, thus enabling the use of simple easy to remember WEP password rather than lengthy HEX keys. The problem is that different vendors use different algorithms to generate the HEX key and therefore a ASCII password on an AEBS will be hashed differently on a non-Apple client and vice versa. I am having trouble - read can't - print from safari or email off my iPad. I can print from several printer apps I installed, so I know the iPad sees the printer, hp 8500. So how does one print something off safari or xfinity email.

I have the new iPad 2, I understand that it should be able to print from safari and email. I've seen AirPrint floated around, but it doesn't appear to be an app in the app store since my searches come up empty. I've printed before from my iTouch using PrintMagic but it's cut and paste to plain text document and I print wirelessly to the printers connected to my iMac.
I would really like the email and the web page to remain formated. I've seen Print Central but it seems convoluted to get it to print, I've also seen a youTube video print directly from Safari and email programs that's desirable but the videos didn't show how to set up printer (it's kind of Walter Foster) there seems to be some steps that are missing. Could someone fill in the blanks? it would be appreciated.

Ok. Airprint is built into the ipad. There is no app. It is a printer driver system that some printer manufacturers have incorporated and some have not.
If you have an airprint printer, then printing is simple and formatted like you expect itmto be.
If you do not have an airprint enabled printer, then you need an app, like the ones you mentioned, and are stuck with the issues you mention.
Nobody wants to buy a new printer. But they start at well under 100. The next time you need to refill your rprint cartriges, you might find it worthwhile to do the switch to a new airprint printer.

I have been trying for months to put iTunes on my laptop and kept getting installation errors in Windows 7. I gave up and just installed iTunes on my PC running XP.
Now I have to install Quicktime on the laptop and once again I get an installation error 0x800736FD.
All windows updates are fine, none failed.
I have removed all apple software from my laptop using CCleaner, common files and folders. Tried reinstalling and still the same error.
Could you offer any advice on how to get both quicktime and then iTunes working??

3 year old iMac 24 running OS10.7.4. After it has been on for a day or so, it stops going to sleep and becomes very slow. This only happens when Safari is running. Quitting Safari solves the problem. Has anyone else have the same problem?

See if the Disk is issuing any S.M.A.R.T errors in Disk Utility...

Open Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities, select All Processes & sort on CPU%, any indications there?
How much RAM & free space do you have also, click on the Memory & Disk Usage Tabs.
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
In the Memory tab, are there a lot of Pageouts?

Safari load image problem with iMac Intel core

I got my new iMac 20" Intel core and system updated everything. I found that Safari cannot load image in my web photo album ( http://fotop.net/nicknick ), all image became "?".
I can load this page correctly with FireFox and Opera Browser. I also try the iMac 17" PowerPC in my office with the latest version Safari, it also load the album correctly. And I know this web is created and store in a Linux server, the web page coding not written or optimized to IE.
I've try to reinstall the whole OS X, nothing else installed, the same problem occurred.
Is it the problem on Intel core? or any setting I can do to overcome it?
Hope the problem could be solve, I like to use Safari except this problem.

Well... no - except to ask if your intel imac is connected to the internet in exactly the same way as the ppc imac. If it is, then that's puzzling
You're right, I'm puzzled by the imac.
Intel imac is at my home, ppc imac is at my office;
both using same ISP but different service plan,
(home:) PPPoE, ADSL modem -> buffalo MIMO wireless router -> intel imac (both direct wire or wireless connect have same result)
(office:) fixed-ip, ADSL modem -> firewall -> Linksys wireless router -> ppc imac (wireless)
both network setting with manual assigned IP, gateway and same DNS
Same result occurred when (1)open box new machine, (2)after updated system, (3)reinstall whole OS with preserve the old setting, (4)reinstall whole OS with erase the whole harddisk option, (5)updated system after the reinstallation.
I firstly think may be some security setting in imac that blocked the images, but can't found out. I secondly think some html code at this web not work on Safari.
May someone with same machine help to open this web to see if all intel imac get the same result?
