My song lists have disappeared but....

My IPOD is the First Special Edition U2 Ipod with no video.
It's been a little funky lately and today, I turned it on and it's as if all the songs in my library got up and walked away - nothing, no songs, albums etc. I reset it a couple of times still nothing. But here's the kicker - When I look at the About menu - it says Capacity 18.5gb But Available is 9.1gb. So the problem is, songs don't show but according to the hard drive the songs are still there somewhere. I know for a fact that is how much gb I had left before the disappearance. Any suggestions?

It would appear that the iPod hard drive or iPod software has become corrupt. This doesn't mean that the songs are not on your iPod, hence the fact that the iPod reports used space and iTunes may show them. I've never seen a plausible explanation for why it does this.
You should restore the iPod and then reload the songs from iTunes.

Hi,
I've got the new iPod touch 16GB.
Today after synchronizing, all my Music and Video lists have disappeared from the menus. It also shows nothing in the iTunes browser, however the Storage bar on the summary screen is full with "Other", in an orange color but there's no media on it.
Does anyone know what's going on here and why I can't access the files any more?
Apps and other data were still there and all working fine.
Any help would be really appreciated.....

Too much (more than a few hundred MB) orange "Other" indicates an interrupted or corrupt sync.

All the playlists I lovingly and painstakingly created have disappeared. I have Windows 7 and have decided NEVER EVER to get another 'update' of ITunes...grrr Help!

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

After upgrading to Yosemite web icons in Safari bookmarks have disappeared. Anybody know how to reset this?

The webpage icons database may be corrupted as a result of the upgrade.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
~/Library/Safari/WebpageIcons.db
Click Go then move the WebpageIcons.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari.
It may take up to a day for your webpage icons to re populate.

Changed ISPs and all emails have disappeared, but are still on HD.

Running OSX 10.5.8 and Mail 3.6.
I have have 2 mailboxes. Changed ISP from bellsouth to comcast and someone set it up for me on my Macbook Pro, including updating (not deleting) the information in Mail's preferences. The big problem now is: in Account #1, all the Sent emails are gone; in Account #2, all the Inbox and Sent emails are gone. Strangely, however, they are still on the HD. I found them in the Users folder - Library - Mailboxes - etc. Both accounts are listed there as POP accounts.
First, how do I get them back into Mail?
Second, why did this happen (so I can avoid it in the future)

P.S. When the changes were made to Mail for the new ISP, other crazy things were happening too, but those have been resolved, i.e. I was getting not only my emails, but the other person's emails too. Then he fixed that, but I started getting duplicates of every email stored on the server, even if it was previously downloaded, so I ended up with 3 of each. That seems to have stopped because I went to the server and moved everything to a newly created folder.

New user - songs listed thru ITunes but do not display on iPod

Hi all, looking for some assistance. I got a green 4GB nano for Christmas, and I downloaded the latest iTunes software. I've hooked up the the USB and put in a new CD to add to my music library. All uploaded and it indicated that the songs were being loaded into my iPod. When I look in iTunes under my device, I see the songs but NOTHING shows up on my iPod at all??? I click music - songs (nothing there) nothing under any heading at all? What the heck am I doing wrong. Thanks!!!!!!! - Sam
P.S. when docked is it normal to have the read out say "do not disconnect" constantly? I can't access any menus when it's docked as well.

The same thing happend to me on my 2GB nano I got for Christmas at first the songs went on perfectly and then they just dissapeared! It said I had them still on my nano but it didnt show it. And everytime I plug my ipod in it says ''Do not disconnect'' for like ever.

Iphoto/library... my photo's have disappeared, but i see my complete file in my screen saver

My complete file in in my screen saver but I don't know how to get them back into iphoto.
when I open i photo it says that it may be in use somewhere else..
which must be my screen saver...
how can I get them back?

Your screensaver uses cached material and there is no way to recover photos from that.
There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on seven different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
- Did it ever work properly?
- Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.

The iphone is not a storage/backup device.
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

Why do songs i have purchased not play??

I have purchased a few songs in itunes and they worked on my iphone 4s fine for a while and now some songs just wont play or they will play a different song? Yet the album artwork says it is the song i have purchased but is not playin??

I have a iPod nano 5th generation and there's a song I'm trying to play, but each time I click it from artist it just shows the songs name again. And when I try to click the song from the song list it just skips. How can I fix this?

Pretty much I have a song on my iPod 5th gen nano that doesn't wanna play, its just one song every other song works. I click it and it show the thing when a song is about to play but then it instantly goes back to where you click on the song. And when I click on it in the songs list it skips immediately to the next song on the list. Can you play the song in iTunes?
If you can't the song file is probably corrupt and needs to be replaced.

I am having the same problem. I have just tried this. Unplug iphone > open itunes > delete all music from itunes library > close itunes > re-open itunes > add music from original folder > plug in iphone > select songs > press sync > unplug iphone using eject button onscreen > checked phone .... still nothing in music folder on phone. On itunes the "On this iphone" tab the songs remain there but greyed out.
