My songs are disappearing from playlists

Hello All, I have a razr maxx with jb. used to use moto music, and really only started using google play music recently..There is also another post from a razr user with the same problem as well, and heres mine in the maxx forum. I also saw a s3 user with the problem too.
I had a playlist of songs that i had purchased on itunes and 1 song purchased from google play that I downloaded to my phone and added to the playlist later. In the beginning google play read the playlist fine, but soon after, the playlist was empty with the exception of the one song from google play. After this happened, I took the time to create a new playlist on my phone adding the same songs and again, a day or 2 later the playlist only had the one song from google play in it.
I can still see the original playlists in motocast, but thats my original playlist from itunes without the song from google play.. At first I'm thinking it may be google play music and motocast not playing nicely, but then that wouldn't explain the fact that when I created a new playlist on the phone and the same thing happened..
Any help would be much appreciated!

This is incredibly frustrating. I've searched the web and cannot find a solution.

Mp3 songs are disappearing from my hard-drive.

When I purchased an iPod Touch a few years ago, I decided to use my new computer as the host for iTunes and started ripping my existing CDs into mp3 files. I also set-up my iPod to synchronise every song in the iTunes library to it. So, whatever is on my iPod should be in my iTunes !!
I noticed a while ago that I had some songs on my iPod, but they weren't in my iTunes library, or anywhere on the hard-disk of my computer ... weird, thought I was going crazy.
Anyhow, I just saw it happen ... I connected my iPod to synchronise the songs I just purchased and got a warning about certain songs not being copied to the iPod. Now, the songs are on the iPod, and when I look in iTunes, they are displayed with an exclaimation mark. I look on the hard-drive and the songs are not there, neither is the folder ... So, what happened ?!?!?
Now, I don't use a NAS or have any fancy back-up software or use Apple's iCloud and basically don't touch the hard-drive the music is on ... so, what is going on ?!?!
This is getting a bit of a worry, especially if it starts deleting songs I purchased on iTunes 10 years ago ... how will I get them back ?!?

Adobe does not access your hard drive. The only way I can think that files would disappear is if you set up a sync from Elements 9,10, or 11 with Photoshop.com and then deleted your files from Photoshop.com and did another sync. Revel will get files that were copied from photoshop.com during the transition but does not delete any photos from anywhere. When you upload to Revel, it does not delete your files on your hard drive.

My songs are disappearing from my iphone

For some reason when I plugged in my iphone the other day half the songs had exclamation points in itunes and were gone from the phone. so i spent a while fixing all the tracks i lost. on next plug in to sync it happened again, this time every song had exclamation points and wont play on iphone. I may have changed a setting without realizing it. can i undo this? my 2500 songs are still showing in itunes but my external HD has over 10000 songs on it. i dont want all of those on my phone. my 2500 took a long time to build and i dont wanna start over again. since they are still showing when i plug the phone in, there must be a way of resotring them on my iphone? please someone help me!
itunes is such a *****. never again! android so simple just drag the song onto phone folders and thats it! itunes is very sensitive to any setting being changed it throws everything off. i am really frustrated i hope its an easy fix. thanks for help guys

Further to that, I should mention that when I plug it into itunes now, it shows that there are songs on my phone (with the ! next to them) that I have long sing deleted manually from the phone ... why are they suddenly showing up now? And they're not all songs that I purchased through itunes, many are my own songs from mp3s. I know itunes will sometimes show greyed out songs that aren't actually on the phone, but these aren't greyed out, just with a ! next to them.
I'd say at least 300 songs have the ! next to them now and have disappeared from my iphone in the last day. All I've found is that the ! means that itunes can't find the source file for the songs, but why would that be a problem when I am actually looking at the device on itunes ... I don't actually use itunes to play music on my computer and the source is always the phone, that and I manually manage my music on my phone, so it doesn't try to automatically sync with a particular folder.
So I'm really confused why some songs are effected by this and others aren't, I mean I can delete the songs with the ! and readd them and they show up on my phone again, but who's to say they just won't delete themselves in a day or so again like before.

Songs disappear from playlist once in a while but are still in library

Every now and again I notice that a song has disappeared from a playlist. I can copy it back to the playlist from the music library. But what makes the song drop from the playlist? It's either a song I purchased from iTunes or one I imported from cd. Doesn't matter.

Not a Sony Vaio. I have one of the first iPods. It was a gift. It's not that songs disappear from the playlist in the iPod, but from playlists on the computer. They are in the music library and I have to copy and paste them back into the playlist I want them in. I haven't lost any from the music library, fortunately.
The playlists (I have a bunch of them) are blue with a music note. The songs in the playlists have checkmarks next to them, and are all checked. They just drop out of a playlist every now and again and I have to copy it back in. I can go for a while and think "hey, I haven't heard X in a long time". And sure enough it's dropped from the playlist in the computer, and I have to copy it back in from the library, then resynch the iPod. Really weird and mildly annoying.

Songs have disappeared from my library and Ipod. I have found some in trash but I did not send them there. Others have completely gone.

Hi - I have discovered that some songs have disappeared from my itunes library and Ipod. I have found some of them in trash even though I did not trash them, as they are some of my all time favourite songs. I have now restored these trashed songs to my library/ipod.
However I cannot find some other missing songs in trash - so I have no idea where they could be! It makes me feel very insecure about itunes as a whole. I would prefer music to diamionds - and it disturbs me when music just disappears like that! An explanation/solution would be gratefully received. I wonder whether I can ask Apple to pay for the items that have gone for good!

have you tried to update the Ipod? If not try that, but do not restore it. If you still cannot find the songs, there is - I suppose you are using windows - a nifty little program available from Findley Designs (www.findleydesigns.com) that allows you to transfer Music from your Ipod to your PC. Download it and see if it works with one song, if it does it is about USD 14 to buy and helps if you want to transfer songs from your Ipod to your computer. If you have transferred the music to your computer you can restore your Ipod-

Thank you so much for providing the details about the duplicate song issue you are experiencing. It sounds like you would like to remove the duplicate songs that will not play on your iPhone, but when you connect it to iTunes, iTunes only shows you one copy of the song on your iPhone.
In this situation, I recommend deleting the individual songs that do not play directly from your iPhone. I found the steps to do this on page 61 of the iPhone User Guide (http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf):
Delete a song from iPhone: In Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete.

I found a fix elsewhere for Mail.app. I had to remove every sub-folder under INBOX (I moved them to a local folder) and then used the MAILBOX -> REBUILD command on INBOX. It worked, but now I don't have any of the sub-folders.
I am very disappointed with Apple. I should never have to do that. Tens of Billions of dollars in cash, just lying around, and they can't be bothered to make the most basic (and central) of applications work.

My songs are disappearing..........

I have just got this ipod for 3 months and is starts to show problems...Each time i have sync my songs to the ipod, after playing it for awhile it will stop playing by itself and all songs will disappear from the ipod. Eventhough i try resetting it, the same problem still occurring.
Sometimes, it will play the song only for awhile and it starts skipping to other songs and the process repeated for a while before all songs suddenly disappear from the ipod....
does anyone know what is happening? what can i do?

i have tried the 5R's, update latest itunes, restore, reset and etc.. now is even worst.. i cant even sync the songs to my ipod and when i connect the ipod to itunes for less than 2 seconds it was auto ejected and reconnect again and ejected again..

Seeing what songs are in what playlists

Although there are a few dicussions about this, I can't seem to understand the solution to it. So the question is, is it possible to see what songs are in what playlists and whether there are any songs not in a playlist, so I can organise them into one?

You want something like this, where the Not in All Playlists smart playlist is not inside the All Playlists folder, but everything else that you want included is.

I was using firefox 3.6 beta 3 when this happened. I am now on firefox 12.

Arrow down the list until you come to a site that is blocked and unblock it. There was no unblock just a delete, so I deleted it. This did not work either.
I know it is a firefox issue because the images are all there when I log in using Internet explorer, but on firefox there are many of my images missing.

Only partial songs are downloaded from Itunes Match

Only partial songs are downloaded from Itunes Match, they stop and go on to the next song. Any ideas?

I too had this issue. On the Downloads screen in iTunes simply uncheck the box at the bottom left that says "Allow simultaneous downloads". Next, delete any of the affected songs from your library and then re-download them from iCloud and songs should no longer abruptly cutoff or jump to the next song.

Why are songs randomly disappearing from iTunes?

Every once in while, I turn on iTunes and find that it cannot "locate" songs. When I go into Finder, the songs are gone -- they've completely disappeared. And it's completely random -- a few songs from a number of albums, a couple of albums completely, and single songs here and there. And it doesn't matter how I got the music -- whether I've downloaded from the iTunes store, others websites, or my own CDs. Using an iMac 10.7.4, iTunes 10. Can someone explain why this is happening? My son (a former Apple Genius) finally figured out what was happening to my movies. A recent upgrade of iTunes seems to have a new feature that determines if the movie was purchased or gotten from another source. When the Add To Library option is used, if the new purchased movie was in the Movie folder, it is added to iTunes and remains in the same folder location. A movie from another source, if in the Movie folder to begin with, is moved by iTunes into the Home Videos folder in the iTunes Library. If you prefer to keep all of your movies in the Movie folder, which seems like the logical thing to do, select the movie title in iTunes and then right click to Get Info. Then select the Options tab at the top of the window, Change the Media Type to Movies - this will change the library file folder location where the file is stored and also change the location where the file is found in your AppleTV.
