My Songs are gone

I had to format my hard drive, and I forgot to do a backup of my itunes folder and even worse of all my mp3 files, so I ended up with nothing. Yeah, stupid thing to do. Do any of you guys know how to get the info back.

As Dave indicated, a file recovery program may help. On the PC, chances are you overwrote some/many/all of the song files with the re-image.
As long as you have not reloaded much (or any) new information to the iPod, the following links will direct you to software that has a (small/medium/good) chance of recovering some or all of your iPod’s deleted music files. Several responders indicated that Recover4All worked for them (although it could be as a result of being first on the list below). Most are not shareware or freeware, so you may have to spend a little money.....
This link will give you several 'Erased iPod' recovery resources for both Mac and Windows users:
http://forums.ipodlounge.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45619
This PodSalvage software will only work with Macs running OS X.
Make sure you read through many of the posts on the iLounge – some folks had good results, others had poor results. There seems to be a split camp on the effectiveness of recovery programs.
Either way, strongly consider a thorough backup strategy after you recover/replace your music: http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=394618&messageID=1263275

  • TS1474 i updated my ipod touch and now all of my songs are gone. How do i get them back?

i just updated my ipod and now all of my songs are gone. how do i get them back?

You can get iTunes purchases back by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
For other items you need to get them from whee yuo got them the first time.
The iPod backup that iTunes makes does not include synced mediai like apps and music. If those ore not in the iTunes library on the computer on which you performed the update they are lost.

  • All songs are gone.  Can I get them back?

Hey everyone! O.K. My step-daughter was here for the summer, She got a nano for her b-day and I put all of my songs on her iPod nano. Then she went back to her Mom's and she pluged it into her friends computer(which had iTunes but no songs). A ballon poped up that asked if she wanted to update to new library and she ticked yes. So now, of course, all of her songs are gone. Does anyone know if we can get them back without using my computer(She's 4 hours away)? Please Help!

If those songs originally on the iPod were overwritten with new songs, it's probably a lost cause.

  • All of my songs are GONE after i updated my Nano to 1.2!!!!

well last night i connected my nano to my computer, then started up itunes nd i get a msg to update it to version 7.0. So i installed it then it asks me to upgrade to version 1.2 for the ipod. so i'm like WHy not.
after the firmware for the ipod has been updated, i disconnected the cable, i went through my ipod and i noticed it asking me which language i wanted, so i scrolled down to english. then i went through my songs n next thing i know, everything is GONE.
i connected my nano back to the comp, nothing shows up on Itunes either. But when i went on My Computer to check my ipod, it does show how much space my songs have taken up!
so it may seem like the songs are still on my ipod but its just not showing anywhere... i tried to look through the folder MUSIC on my ipod, but nothing is there, however when i looked in the folder Artwork, theres a few big random files :
    http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y89/rubberrbandman/ipod.jpg
so does anyone know what i can do to restore my songs? or are there any ways to save my songs?
or should i just.. reformat it? thank you

I am having the same problem. I connected my ipod to my computer last night and it prompted me to upgrade to Itunes 7.0. I did that and the same thing happened to me...all of my songs are gone from my Ipod. It still shows disk space beign used when my Ipod is connected to my computer but no songs or files. Can anybody explain this or help me to find out whre all of my songs went. Thanks

    Hey renie1515,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
When you download past purchases on an iOS device or computer, that device or computer becomes associated with your Apple ID. This article describes how to manage these associations.
iTunes Store: Associating a device or computer to your Apple ID
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4627
Once a device or computer is associated with your Apple ID, you cannot associate that device or computer with another Apple ID for 90 days.
Note: Removing a device from your Apple ID does not override the 90-day timer. You must wait 90 days from the day the device was first associated with your Apple ID before it can be associated with another Apple ID.
    Have a nice day,
    Mario

  • All my Garage Band songs are gone in the app after I uploaded to iCloud.

All my Garage Band songs are gone in the app after I uploaded to iCloud. Where can I retrieve the songs? iCloud doesn't show any Garage Band folder backup. Help please!!!

Is your GarageBand version up to date? If not, upgrade to the latest version. also, you coud try to reset GarageBand to the factory settings. That brought my iCloud projects back.
Open the "Settings" app on your iPad and scroll down to the applications. Open the GarageBand settings and set "Reset GarageBand" to on.
BTW: If there are network problems it sometimes may take a very long time, before the song is downloaded from the cloud again. That is why I never upload the original to iCloud - I duplicate the song and share only a copy to iCloud. Once I am sure the upload has been successful and the cloud version is working I delete the original.

  • Downloaded iTunes 7 and alot of my songs are gone????

I downloaded iTunes 7 and half my songs are gone. Also how do I get iTunes to find the music I have saved on my computer without doing it one by one??? Please help as I am really frustrated and wanting to return my ipod =(

Edit > Preferences > Store check Music under Automatic Downloads.
Open the iTunes Store from left hand column, then select Purchasedfrom the column on the right, click the Not In My Library button and select the tunes you want to download again.
That said, you seem to be under a misapprehension as to how iTunes works, or at least how it has worked in the past. It has, until recently, been up to you take care of your purchases once they have been downloaded. You had a one-time download which you were reminded to back up. With the recent change to this policy you can at least download your store purchases again, but having a personal backup of your iTunes store purchases, stuff purchased elsewhere and files ripped from your CDs will still be preferable to gathering all the stuff together again in the event of a disaster.
For a backup strategy see this User Tip.

  • All my songs are gone!! Help please.

So I'm on vacation kind of for a month and I brought my iPod with me and the CD that has the iTunes software thing on it so I couldd install it on the computer here so I could download more songs or whatever. But after I installed iTunes, my iPod was totally refeshed and all my songs are gone. I'm pretty sure I could get my songs back from my own computer at home, but I wont be back for more than a month. Is there any way I can get my old playlist back without having to buy them all again?

If you linked your Shuffle to an iTunes with only a few or completely different songs it will have erased your original iPod song list. You will need to connect to your original PC to get them back. iPod Shuffle: FAQ

  • My computer crashed, my songs are gone, what can i do?

My computer crashed and all of the songs that i got with the free bottlecaps off of pepsi's promotion are gone. Is there any way that i can get them back? It says i purchased them in the purchase history. (not actually purchased, but got). Is there any way at all to contact them, or where I can go to get them back?
      Windows XP

You seem to have five choices:
1 - Recover them from your backup files
2 - Recover them from your iPod
3 - Ask the iTMS for a second download of those 'free' songs (doubtful)
4 - Pay for someone to recover the files from your crashed HD (expensive)
5 - Purchase the iTMS songs
I assume you do not have any backups. Do you have an iPod with the songs on them? If you do, post back and recovery instructions can be provided.
If not, then a well constructed email plea to the iTMS explaining your situation and promising that you have learned the value of backups and will do so from now on, may get you a second chance at a download.
Barring any of the first four above, it may be option '5'. Or '6': Just give up on the songs....

  • Updated itunes and now songs are gone

when i updated my itunes, it deleted all the songs i had in my library. i was able to put the songs from albums back in, but all the songs i bought from the itunes music store are gone, and my back-up files were erased too. please help!
    dell   Windows XP

Did you check your recycle bin?
Do a Start > Search > all Files or Folders > files named .m4p
that is the file extension for iTMS purchased music.

  • I downloded some music by the 1975 a while ago, now the songs are gone off my library

I downloded some music by the 1975 a while ago. And all of a sudden a few of the songs from an older album got deleted off my library, some are still there but most are gone. the ablum is also not on itunes anymore. how do i get the songs back?!?!? they were my favourite!

They are linked to your account, but they are also tied to the country that they were bought in - you won't be able to potentially redownload them unless you move back to the US and have a US billing address on your account (you have to be in a country to use its store, including redownloading past purchases).
Have you not got a backup copy of all of your downloads/library that you can copy them back from ? Even if you hadn't moved countries any item could be removed from the store at any time by the rights-holders (you are only guaranteed one download of any item), you should be keeping and maintaining a backup copy.
