My songs are listed as albums, artists, etc.

I got the new 30gig i-pod video today. I bought an album from i-tunes and loaded it on my new i-pod. The problem is that it listed all of the songs in every catagory on the i-pod. So when I go into the albums folder it shows all of the songs in the album instead of the name of the album. It also lists all of the songs as artists as well. Oh and another issue is it's listing the songs alphabetically instead of my track listing! What do I do about this? Any suggestions?

What I want is for my iPod to have a list of album artists instead of artists, so that I can find the song "Amazing" under "Kanye West" instead of "Kanye West ft. And when the song plays, it should say:

Is there a way I can do that? I tried using the "album artist" field thinking it would do what I wanted to do, but it didnt. I also tried using the "sort artist" field and typed "Kanye West" in there, but that didnt work either. I wish iTunes was simpler and easier or atleast CAME WITH A MANUAL. Any help would be greatly appreciated THanks

Have you tried a different pair of earbuds/headphones to rule out a pair of damaged/faulty ones? You might also want to make sure the headphones are securely and firmly seated in Nano's headphone jack. Lastly, check the headphone jack for any signs of debris or damage. You may need to have the headphone jack replaced either by Apple or a third party repair company.
I assume this static is present on any track you listen to versus only particular ones?

For the missing Artists on your iPod, make sure their tracks in iTunes are not marked as "Part of a compilation" in iTunes. You can do this by highlighting the track, right->clicking on them and choosing "Get Info" from the shortcut menu. When the window pops up, head over to the Info tab and make sure there is NO tick mark next to this option in the lower right hand corner. Lastly, sync the updated changes to your iPod.

I have two albums (RCA Sweeny Todd 2 discs set and RCA Into the Woods 1 disc) where the songs are listed as being on the same album on the list view, but do not group together on the iPod, so the songs can't play consecutively, or in the proper order.

The "Apply Sort Field" and "Same album does not work, but ti is only these two RCA albums that do this. All other albums remain intact. Need help with this minor problem. Thanks.

UPDATE: This behavior (to an extent) still happens when "Repeat Album" is off. Instead of an infinite loop, it goes through all the tracks on the album (unsuccessfully) and kicks me out to the Album overview screen. Going back to list of Albums and tapping the Album again brings up "No Content: You can download music from the iTunes Store" but that screen immediately kicks me back to list of Albums.
So I am just even more confused now.

Is a compilation or an album of various artist? If so they will be listed in various. You can fix this by opening iTunes on your computer, putting all the tracks in one folder and renaming it, then sync it with your iPad.

that is odd! that should not be happening.
Are you syncing your songs right off of itunes itself? because it should be syncing over to the ipod however it is listed in itunes.

It's just a matter of clicking/toggling the little triangle at the top of the list of songs. When it points up the songs are listed in standard alphabetical order; when the triangle points down, then they will become "the other way around".
You probably just accidentally clicked the triangular toggle.

Not all songs from an artist are available in the artist tab as some songs are from compilation albums. is their any fix for this?

In the Artist tab, I am unable to see all the songs I have for that artist under their name. It looks like the artist tab is organised by album artist so therefore any artist I have on a compilation album can only be found under various artists. I used to have this problem.
First, you need to go back on iTunes
you need to go to each of the songs that are having this problem
Click the album so all the songs drop down
Right click the songs that have this problem
Click ' Get info '
Click the tab that says " info '
The box that says ' album artist ' should probably be empty (correct me if I'm wrong)
Click it and type the artist of the entire album, NOT the songs guest artist
as such,

These should be separate for each artist
If you write the same album artists for each song by that artist, all the songs should be on 1 album

All of your apps should be on your computer. If they are not, then put them there.
You can then sync them to any of your devices that you like.

Songs are listed twice in itunes

Why are some of my songs showing duplicates in iTunes. Can I just delete one? Which one?

Quick question, do you subscribe to iTunes Match? The reason I ask is because in my experience if your device is not synced directly to the library in question but music is transferred via synchronization it will double up on the songs in question. I believe this happens because there are numerous amounts of that same song released on different albums or compilations. Match pulls the most prevalent title it recognizes from the apple database and installs it on your device not aware that it is the same song in turn creating the duplication. I've had this problem several times before and it's maddening. Best thing I found is to keep one main library and make sure all of your mobile devices are fully synced with only that library. I had three different computers with varying library's all on the same apple ID and the only time I plugged my mobile devices in was when they needed the large system updates which lead to the numerous duplications. I finally realized this when I noticed the album covers on the duplicates where different as well the version albeit song name was the same.

How to get a list of albums/artists?

Hi guys!
I'm scared that my hard drive might crash soon, and I'd like to have at least a list of the artists and albums in my itunes so I can reference it and go back and redownload/rip what I have now. I have much of it backed up, but I'd like it for future reference in case I forget a few months from now to back it up.
When I've exported my library it to a text file or xml, it's kind of hard to read. is there anything that does it just by artist and album to maybe a word file, or something very easily legible?

Apple Script is your answer and there is no better repository than Doug's AppleScripts for iTunes ,what you're looking for can be found in the Exporting Info catagory.

If more than one entry is found for the CD (which can occur if more than one person submitted information for the same CD to the Gracenote service), select one of the entries. If it isn’t correct, choose Advanced > Get CD Track Names again and choose the other entry. If it’s still not correct, you can edit the information yourself.

Any way to put multiple artists so that duet songs are found in both artists' directory?

Let's say with the song Eminem featuring Rihanna - Love the Way You Lie, I want to be able to go to Artists>Eminem and find the song but ALSO go to Artists>Rihanna and find the song.
I've been renaming all of my music to put the featured artist in the song title because I hate not having ALL songs from an artist in their directory but then the song does not appear at all in the featured artist's directory. I would love to be able to find the same song for both.

As noted, there can be only one Artist field. You can put multiple names in it.
If you type "Rihanna" in the search bar, it will match on "Rihanna" and "Eminem feat Rihanna" and anything else that has the string "Rihanna" in it. That is how it works.
There is no gain from putting an artist name in the title field.
