My songs on my playlist wont update on my ipod!

When i try to update my IPod it says- "Songs on the IPod cannot be updated becuase all of the playlists selected for updating no longer exist" but all my music is still in my Itunes and on my Playlist but not on my IPod?
PLEASEEE HELP!!!

i also want to add not only does it not snyc, I have 0 playlist on my ipod.

First, make sure you've got the home share set up on both computers, as per the following document. If material on the original PC was bought from the iTunes Store, I'd use the AppleID you used for the purchases to set up the Home Share on both PCs.

Have both computers running and have iTunes open on both computers.
Now, in the iTunes on the computer you want to transfer music to, select the library that you want to transfer music from, as per the following screenshot:
Once the other library loads, go down to the bottom of the screen and in "Show:" select "Items not in my library":
If you want to import all of the songs you can now see, head up to the iTunes menu bar and go "Edit > Select all". Then head down to the bottom of the screen again and click the "Import" button in the bottom-right-hand corner.
If there's a lot of stuff in your original PC's library, the transfer may take some time.

If I was in your shoes, I would choose to restore the iPhone with iTunes and then choose to NOT restore a previous backup. I'd then go on to set up the phone as though it were totally new, and choose the stuff to load onto it.
The reason I'd go through that trouble.. even though it meant losing a lot of settings and having to set stuff up again .. is because I wasn't sure I could trust the backup that it's restoring from.
If you have trouble again after doing the fresh reload -- especially if it's soon after you do it -- you may have a hardware issue with the phone, such as faulty flash memory or a processor chip that's failing. If that's the case, you'll want to consider your repair/replacement options at that point.

My songs wont update to my ipod?

When I try to update songs onto my ipod, it gives me some message like "Attempting to copy to the disk has failed. The disk could not be read from or written to.", yet i have no disk in my drives.
I have tried restoring my ipod, but that hasn't helped. I have taken the shuffle out and put it back, as have I moved the cord to vaarious ports. Nothing to far has worked, so I'm asuming that it has to do with the message.
Also, when the songs are done being updated, if they make it that far before the message pops up, a little gray dot is between the song number and the title on itunes. Im concerned that these dots should not be here.
Is there anything I can do?

My iPhone 4 stops after playing one song on any playlist after updating to IOS 5

Hi all.
I just upated my iphone to IOS 5 and my music playlists will only play one song, or a few songs and stop even when hundreds of songs are listed on that playlists.
The top arrows allowing to enable "repeat playlist" or "repeat one song" work but the playlist just won't play or shuffle.
I also realized that while the phone is on this freeze mode the "play icon" shows as it is playing but the timer won't move so the song is stopped.
When it does play a song it shows the wrong picture of the album as well.
Anyone having the same issue?

I have the same issue. Some songs play, while others do not. The play indicator says it's playing, however the time indicator never moves. Can't tell what the difference is between the songs that play and those that don't until I get home tonight and can check iTunes. Tried a hard reboot of the iPhone (4) but that did nothing.
This all began this AM following the iOS 5 upgrade.

I've got 48 songs that MATCH, but wont update to .m4a

I've got 48 songs that MATCH via iTunes Match, but they won't update to a .m4a file type (after I delete them from my local machine). They also won't download to a .m4a file from another machine that has never had a local copy of the same song.

If the original file in the library was an .mp3 file, and when you delete that file and download the track from the cloud, and that file is still an .mp3 file that means the file was not "matched" it was "uploaded." You are simply downloading the same file. The iCloud Status of these tracks will be "uploaded" and not "matched."
If you're complaint is that the files are "uploaded" and not "matched" then that is completely different issue. If you are expecting 100% of your tracks to "match" you will be disappointed. Anecdotal evidence suggests that approximately 80% of tracks in most iTunes libraries will "match." The rest of the tracks will be "uploaded."

okay, i had another post, but it isnt on here anymore, it must have been kiked off or something, so i ahve to post a new one: i plug in my ipod, and once i recieve the message saying its done, my playlists arent on their. i run auto, itunes 5.1, and the playlist is a simple playlist, not a smart.

Hey everyone! i have a external hardrive i keep my itunes library of songs on and it wont sync with my ipod touch inless i copy and paste it into my ipod device when thats conected. i dont want all the songs on there only checked ones. help plz!!

Correct. When you update via iTunes all synced media that is not in your iTunes library will be lost.

You can redownload most iTunes pruchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
I do not think it included audio books.

I Want My Smart Playlists To Update On MY iPod

Hi,
I have a fifth generation ipod with software version 1.3, which no longer updates smart playlists on the go. I was hoping that apple would release an update, but it looks like they've moved on. So, I'm hoping that I can download and install 1.2 (or whatever the previous firmware was). Does anybody know where I can get it and if there's a trick to getting it on the ipod? Thanks.

Smart Playlists not updating to my iPod

I've got a few Smart Playlists set up. They select by "Least Recently Played". The tunes that are listed for the Smart Playlists seem to follow the rules I created. When I listen to a bunch of tunes on my iPod and then Sync to iTunes, I don't get the Smart Playlists copied to the iPod.
I've got "Sync music" checked, the "Selected playlists" button is popped, and I've checked the Playlists I want to copy to my iPod.
Smart Playlists seem pretty cool, but if they only work once, they're not very helpful. What am I missing?

I listened to "Chocolate Jesus" by Tom Waits on my way home from school tonight. I just synced up to my desktop. In iTunes I see the "last played" field has been updated with tonight. It isn't showing up in my smart playlist, but it is still on the iPod and on the iPod selection playlist in iTunes.
I don't know how to paste an image onto this posting, so I'll describe what's on the smart playlist window when I'm editing GenInfuser.

Play Count is less than 5
My Rating is not **

Playlist is GenCore
[checked] Limit to 1750 MB selected by least recently played

Here's what I see for GenStation (the smart playlist that is supposed to be synced to the iPod):

I just tried checking "Limit to" 1750 MB least recently played on GenStation and it didn't start copying over new music. Actually it copied over 9 tunes. There's at least a couple hundred tunes that have been recently played on the iPod and several times that many on iTunes that have never been played.
I guess the other pertinent info is that I've got a 4 GB nano and I'm running iTunes 7.0.2.16.

Purchase Playlist wont sync with my ipod

Recently I am syncing my itunes with my ipos and I can not see the purchase folder in my ipod. Help PLEASE!

You will not see a Purchased playlist the iPod unless you create a new playlist.
The one just below iTunes store does not get transferred over, even if you transfer everything. The songs will get transferred, just not the playlist.

Most my songs on my itunes wont copy onto my ipod touch (oldest version).

Is there anything different about those that do and do not sync? Such as when you optained them, the formate if they are age rated

Ipod wont update, restore, WORK!!??

hi everyone, my ipod's been playing up, its the second time this has happened, the last time i managed to sort out the problem but it was an accident! It started off by suddenly deleting all the songs in my ipod, they're still in my library but wont update onto my ipod, saying there is not enough memory. I have tried resetting, and then update/restoring but I keep getting a range of different error messages from "Internal error" to "formatting failure" i have searched through all the discussions on here but none have helped!! the ipod updater i downloaded seems to disappear on my computer leaving one from jan06, which is obviously out of date. PLEASE HELP!!!!

If after trying all else, you could try a format of the iPod in Windows. A full format does a check and remap of bad sectors on the iPod hard drive, and you would need to restore the iPod as normal (using the iPod updater) afterward. This can also work when the iPod is recognized by the computer, but not by the updater.
First, put the iPod into forced disk mode.
See: How to put the iPod into disk mode.
On your PC, go "my computer" and right click on the iPod, then choose "format". Ensure the settings are at "default" and that "quick format" is not checked. Now select "format". It will take a while, but when that's finished, restore the iPod using the updater.
If you need to, reset the iPod to exit disk mode.

Hi out there! I have an I pod classic 80gb. New as of the last 3-4 months. My question is...How do I get it to shuffle "songs" within a playlist? It seems to only give me the option in the settings to set the shuffle to "albums" within a playlist. Am I missing some software update? iTunes on my computer has the option to shuffle songs in a playlist so why doesnt my ipod have the same option? HELP!! Thanks!!

In the settings menu, make sure that shuffle is set to "songs". Then select any playlist, then press play (not select). The songs within that playlist will be shuffled.

I have a iPod nano 7th generation and have the latest version of iTunes on my MacBook Pro... when I play music on my iPod and connect it to my computer, the play count doesn't update on my iTunes... The same can be said for when I play music on my iTunes...the play count wont update on my iPod... any ideas how to fix this? AK

If you want to make song files from your iTunes library available on your car audio system, and it connects using a USB port, a new iPod nano is a very expensive way to do it. If that's the only reason for getting the iPod nano, you should return it and get a cheap 8 or 16GB USB flash drive instead, which costs less than $20. Here's one that barely sticks out of the USB port.

You can then leave it connected in the car all the time, except for when you want to update the songs. An iPod is more fragile (especially screen and battery), and you'll have to always remember to remove it, in case the car overheats or freezes. It would also be a target for thieves.
For the audio file format, I can't believe any car audio system would ONLY play Window Media files, and not the most common type of audio files, MP3. Songs purchased from the iTunes Store, and those ripped from music CD (using the default settings), are in AAC format. It's possible the car system does not play AAC. So, I would try songs from your iTunes library that are in MP3 format.
You can use iTunes to convert songs from AAC (or any iTunes supported format) to MP3. So, if MP3 works, and you need details on how to convert audio format using iTunes, please post back. You cannot convert to WMA format (which is Windows Media audio) using iTunes.
