My sons ipod 4 won't rotate, and orientation is not locked
my sons ipod will not rotate and the orientation is not locked.
Any ideas? I have reset settings, I have on/off home screen simultanious rebooted.
I have yelled at it,
begged it
bargained with it, all to no avail......
my poor son is so upset...
his favorite games need rotation
he is 10. He saved his Christmas and Birthday money
and bought it himself!
Try the standard fixes to rule out a software problem:
- Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod
if still problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- Try on another computer

I have a 2nd generation Ipod.
I have it connected to my computer and see (my name) ipod on my screen.
Everytime I try to add a new song to the Ipod, this message comes up and I am not sure what to do:
The Ipod, (my name) is synced with another ITunes library on A74F65. Do you want to erase this Ipod and sync with this ITunes Library?
An Ipod can be synced with only one ITunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this IPod with the contents of this ITunes library.
Then it asks me if I want to delete and sync.
I am not sure what to do for fear of erasing everything I have put on my Ipod.
I would appreciate if someone could help me out.If I understand you correctly, you are trying to use iTunes to play the Music in your iPod but which is not in your itunes library. I don't think Apple design iTunes for use in your way. As to put and play music in iPod, the music has to be in iTunes first, so you play music in the iTunes music Library. the window with Ipod music is just to show you which music are already in the Ipod, in case you want to Manually Manage your huge music library.

Do a backup.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Go to Library/Containers/com.apple.mail. Move the folder com.apple.mail to your desktop. You must move the entire folder, not just the contents.
Restart, re-launch Mail and test. If the problem is solved, recreate any required Mail settings and import any emails you want to save from the folder on the desktop. You can then put the folder in the Trash. If the problem remains, return the folder to where you got it replacing the one that is there.

I tried to download the upgrade, now it won't install and I can not access my documents. It said Vi did not have enough space for the upgrade so I made room but still no luck. If I delete the ap and reinstall I will lose my stuff. Any ideas? It won't open so I can email it to myself.
What upgrade are you trying to install? Your profile shows iOS 5.1.1, which is the current max iOS.

About two years ago I bought an Ipod (4), recently I bought an Iphone 4S. I just want to transfer some songs from my old ipod to my new phone and I am not being capable to find a way in Itunes!! Any help???
Just transfer them from iTunes.
If they are not in iTunes. connect the iPod, then File > Devices > Transfer purchases.
Then connect the iPhone and sync these songs. -

I have an empty folder and 3 .jpg files stuck on my desktop. When I drag them to the trash I am asked to enter my administrator's password. I do this but the files and folder will not delete. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Note: If you see the screen pictured below, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
Use iTunes to restore the device.

I installed the 3.1.3 update last night and ever since, when I turn my iPod horizontally it will not go into landscape mode in Safari or Music or anything. If i watch a video or use an app that requires it to be in landscape mode it works fine, it just won't turn at my will, I know I am turning it right.
I just bought a new iPod after my other one broke after two years of use and I have only had it two weeks!
Please help me out here.Oh thank goodness. I thought it was just ME. My iPod is doing the exact same thing. If I use the youtube button it will rotate no problems, but any apps I have that are rotate sensitive won't work, and if I'm using Safari and try to use landscape, it won't turn. I've been looking for an answer for this ever since I noticed and can't seem to find anything about it. Last night I finally made a backup and did a system restore from it, but of course it restored it with the 3.1.3 update so fail again. Then I restored to factory specs and it still installed 3.1.3. My next try is going to be a system roll-back to 3.1.2 as soon as I figure out how to do that. If that fails and I can't get any help here, my only other solution might be to take it in to an apple store. The closest one to me is about an hour away I believe. ***** so bad.

in this context, there's a couple of different things that could be causing that error.
(1) you can get it sometimes if you try to uninstall the updater from a different XP user account from which the updater was installed, or try to install a higher version of the updater in a different user account from a lower version.
so if you've got several different user accounts on that PC, see if you can find the account in which the updater was originally installed, and try to uninstall it from there.
(2) if you can't uninstall the updater from any account (or you don't have multiple user accounts on that PC), the installation configuration information for the existing updater may be compromised.
in that case, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility, and use it to clear the things called either iPod for Windows or iPod Updater. (my 2004-11-15 version of the updater shows up in Windows CleanUp as "iPod Updater", but my three later versions show up as "iPod for Windows".)

What happens when you sign into the me.com site and try to find the iPod when signed into the possible accounts that could have been used?
If wifi is off, the iPod is not with range of a unsecured wifi spot or a secured one that will automatically connect, or somebody has turned off wifi or FindMyiPhone on the iPod or has restored the iPod, it will not show up in me.com. -

You can try to edit the prefs.js file with Firefox closed and remove all lines that refer to extensions.dwhelper prefs.
