My Sony Blu-ray player keeps restarting while playing a DVD.

While playing a DVD in my Sony Blu-ray BD/DVD player it keeps shutting off, then automatically restarting itself and goes back to the home menu. It is a BDV-2100 Series. Any suggestions? I've turned off the Sleep settings. Unplugged for 1 minute and turned back on. I haven't found any helpful suggestions for this in the COmmunity Support questions. Is this a common problem with this series of Blu-ray?

  • Tricks to connect my iPod Classic to a Sony Blu-ray player?

I'm trying to get my iPod Classic to play through my Sony Blu ray player. Unfortunatley, I think they're just not compatible. But there's always hope!
You guys are smart if anybody has any ideas let me hear 'em.
Here's a list of what I've tried so far, unsuccessfully; I connect my iPod to the A/V input, but it did not generate the sound that I wanted.
I connected to the Blu ray's usb port this improves the sound but I have no control over what music is played and all of the music folders and files have weird labels on them so I don't know what any of the folders or song files contain.

I had the same problem with Sony BluRay BDP-S3100 and iPod Nano (6th gen.).
I had a nice online "chat session" with Apple, and they said a couple of things.
One was that a USB connection is not the "best" connection for audio files,  I thought
that was an interesting factoid.   :-)   The BluRay player said the "USB device" was
"not supported."  It just can't "see" the iPod.
But the Apple chat tech said I should try hooking the iPad directly
to the TV via a headphone jack -- didn't have one -- BUT...my stereo system DOES
have a headphone jack, so he said to get a cable that has two male plugs -- one is
the 3.5mm headphone plug, and the other is the mini (for iPod) plug.  Voila!  Apple
sells that kind of cable, but I'm sure one could be found at Radio Shack etc.
I hope this helps you!  I don't have a cable yet so I can't say if this solves the problem
for me or anyone else, but it's where I'm going to start.

  • Trying to connect Sony Blu Ray player to MI424WR router wired through in-wall connection, help!

Maybe someone can help me. My house has some pre-wired cat5e plugs in the walls. I have my MI424WR router upstairs and my Sony blu ray player downstairs. I first connected the router and blu ray player to the wall with cat5e cables, no luck. I then tried using a cat5e crossover cable from the router to the wall, no luck. The Sony blu ray player has everything set to auto, but do I need to configure something? Can someone help me figure out what is not working? Thank you.

    AEConfidential wrote:
Shouldn't the wiring in the wall act like a hub with the router plugged into one wall jack?
No.  cat5 wiring doesn't work that way.  Unlike phone wiring where all the wires are connected together, cat5 wiring connects point-to-point between two Ethernet devices.  You need a continuous cat5 path from the blu-ray player to the router.  The patch panel merely provides a termination point for each cable.
The easiest thing to do to get this working is to take a cat5 patch cord and use it as a jumper from the jack going to the blu-ray player and the jack going to the Actiontec router.  That will give you a continuous connection between the two devices.
Longer term, if you want to add devices in other rooms that have a cat5 cable, you will need to add a switch as viafax999 suggested.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethernet_switch
    http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=30&Tpk=ethernet%20switch&Order=PRICE
You will need to connect the jack going to the Actiontec router as well as the jack going to each room where you want an Ethernet connection to the switch.  The number of rooms you want active will determine how many ports you need on the switch.

  • Sony Blu Ray Player connect issue

Just added a Sony BDP S350 Blu Ray player to my network via a WGA54G.  It appears I can connect to BD Live sites but not Sony's firmware update server.  I can connect  to that server when I go wired directly through the DSL modem.  I have also tried to connect through the router and a cat line but no luck.   I use DHCP and WEP 64 bit.  Everything else is default....
    Any thoughts?

    mle724,
You need to use the same wireless security encryption on the router and adapter (either WPA2 or WEP, but not both).  If you make these changes it should work.
EDIT:  Looking at the spec for the WGA54G I see that it only supports WEP, therefore the only option would be for you to change the security on the router to WEP.
You also need to use the same passphrase (or keys) for the router and adapter.
Check page 28 (troubleshooting) of your WGA54G manual and under #1 it will show:
Make sure that the SSID is the same as the SSID of the access point.
On the WEP Encryption screen, make sure that all of the WEP settings are the same as the WEP settings of the access point.

    Hi Vesta
I am working on a more detailed answer to your DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc looping question. I have threads scattered about here and elsewhere. Several seeming to be success stories. I am just checking to make sure that they still work since it has been a while since I looked at them.
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2518188
What is the duration of your Timeline and how many times did you want the Timeline content to loop in the DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc playback?
There are 3rd party software that have been used successfully to take the Premiere Elements DVD burn to folder VIDEO_TS and add commands for the looping. But then you must find a 3rd party software for burning the VIDEO_TS edited for looping to a DVD disc. ImgBurn has been suggested, but I just want to make sure it does first hand. That pgcedit software and infoEdit.

    ifoEdit: http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=421
If you had a Windows Live Movie Maker/Windows DVD Maker workflow, looping would be available in Windows DVD Maker.
    http://lehsys.blogspot.com/2011/06/how-to-loop-video-using-windows-live.html
But, I do not know if that is all that advisable with your present project goals and the video editing advantages of Premiere Elements. Did you say that you have Windows 7 or 8 64 bit? Windows 8 no longer comes with the Windows DVD Maker.
Definitely the easiest way out is through the player controls. I checked out your Sony BDP-5470.
    http://store.sony.com/p/BDP-S470/en/p/BDPS470#specifications
    Under Function, did you try
"Repeat (All/1 title): Yes (All/1 title/1 chapter/1 track". Not sure what that is all about, but worth a look at.
Did you call Sony sales to see if you could get the definitive answer on looping playback with your Sony player?
    More later.

How do you play movie on a blu ray from the iPad ?

Subject of your posts seems to be asking if you can take movies from the iPad and play them on a BluRay player. No, you can't, though there are ways to connect your iPad to a television. The body of your post seems to be asking if you can take BluRay movies and play them on your iPad. No. Commercial DVDs are encrypted. In order to make a copy, you'd need to break that encryption. That's illegal in the U.S., so, we're not able to talk about it on this forum. Sorry.

    Hi Vikram,
Thank you for bringing your concern to Sony’s attention. We understand where you’re coming from however, there are a lot of factors that can affect your unit. A technician from an authorized service center can determined the exact issue as to why your unit stopped working. Please be advised that Sony does provide a warranty for all products to allow for initial failures to be covered at Sony’s expense. Once the warranty expires, it is the customers responsibility to cover repair costs. I have sent you a private message. Kindly check it.

  • Dvd player screen dims while playing a DVD

It is happening on both my iMacs (a G4 and the new dual Intel. while watching a movie the screen dims a bit every so often and then brighten up again. Any suggestions?

    Hi,
thanks for checking in. I have had the other screen dim issue where the mouse needs to be moved to power the screen up full. It is not this issue. The screen dims for one second and then brightens up again on its own, too quick to know if moving the mouse would also restore the brightness. The issue happens on all movie dvds, home made or professional.
I have not tried another dvd player as this iMac is in the living room and it is front row, with it's sweet little remote, that makes the iMac our replacement for a TV. (It happens in both front row and dvd player.)
I am hoping to solve this problem rather than switch players, but fdor laughs, when I get home Monday I will download another player and see what happens, it will be an interesting experiment.
    I will keep you posted!

  • New Blu-ray player and DVD-R media... strange problem?

    Hello,
So, I have a sample disc that we made last year with various clips on it. To the best of my knowledge, everything has worked just fine. Now, I have a new Sony Blu-ray player. I put our sampler in, and one of the tracks does NOT play the audio. Plays the video, no audio. Inserting the same disc into our other players and the audio plays with the video just fine. Grab another sampler from a different build/burn. Same EXACT issue, on the same exact video track there is no audio but the disc works in all other players. Now here is the real kicker- take either sampler disc and play it in the Blu-ray player, go to the track that plays the video but no audio, play it for a few seconds, then rewind and play from the beginning, and you get sound. Jump back to the chapter index and choose the clip, no sound. Rewind & play you get sound.
Anyone want to give my any ideas as to what is going on?
    Mike
For what it's worth, the project was edited in FCP, Compressed using Compressor. I don't specifically know the exact settings, but I typically use VBR with an average of 6 or a CBR of 5. I always use AC3 audio. DVDSP authored the disc. I usually keep my systems up to date, but the disc was authored last January so I would have been using whatever the latest system updated in January were. And finally there are two builds of the disc. The 2nd build has DVD Rom content added to it. But either build has the same exact issue with the same exact tack.

Not Really. Try using another batch of discs. Author the project over again..maybe it will help.

  • Can't connect wireless blu ray player

I've been using verizon DSL for about 5 years now.  I have a Versalink 327W that was provided by Verizon.  I've been pretty happy with the service, experiencing only a few glitches that were easily fixed.  But I haven't been pushing it hard.  I have a couple of desktops both wired to the Versalink by ethernet.  The versalink provides internet access to the two computers, and file and printer sharing as well.
Now I have a problem.  I recently bought a Sony Blu Ray player  (model BDP-BX57) with built in wireless.  No matter what I do, wireless connection fails.  I've ruled out SSID and WEP key problems.  The Blu Ray sees the Versalink with its SSID, and can't connect even if I set the Versalink to open.  For what it's worth, if I plug the blu ray into the versalink with ethernet, that works, and I can access the internet.
That solution won't work for me in use.  I need wireless.
Reading various entries in this forum and other places, I see that some people need to update the firmware in their Versalink.  Do I need to do this?  Is it going to help?  Am I just going to have to upgrade my router/modem or my DSL service later on?
Also, looking at the steps needed to update the firmware, it looks error prone to me.  What's my fall back if things go wrong due to either my error or Verizon's?  I don't want to be without service for a long time while Verizon gets me a new router/modem.
    Thanks in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    This problem has been solved.
The solution turned out to be to upgrade the firmware inside the "Residential Gateway"  (aka router/modem)  provided by Verizon.  The gateway is a Westell 327W  of the A90 vintage.  The firmware it contained didn't work for wireless connections.
After finding a Verizon site that provides firmware for downloading, and satisfying myself that this site was on the up and up, I finally ventured to download and install the new firmware.  if you are interested in downloads from Verizon, start at download.verizon.net and navigate your way to the download you are loking for.  There may be a link from My Verizon to this download area, but I sure couldn't find it.
The firmware is now at rev 4.04.03.00.  And the gateway now supports wireless connections.
Thanks for all your responses, and a special thanks to some contributors to old discussions in dslreports where the solution was outlined.
The next problem to deal with is going to be slow speed.  I'll start a new topic.

  • Netflix and Sony Blu Ray players

I've recently purchased a Sony Bdp-S3500 Blu Ray Player to replace my aging BDP -S280. The set up was easy and everything works....except Netflix. I have gone thru every step on the Netflix Website and I have spoken with Sony Support and I still receive an Nw 8-17 cannot connect with Netflix server error. I've been told my Netflix it must be an issue with my ISP. Sony told me I must not have enough of a connection speed.  Netflix says its Sony and Sony Says it Netflix servers.   Such nonsense! I just bought my S3500 on Saturday 8/1.   After neither Sony or Netflix have been any help, will not say what the problem is and simply want the customer to do a variety of fixes that WILL NOT WORK...I simply boxed the S3500 and plugged my S280 back in and low and behold....I HAVE NETFLIX AGAIN!!! Clearly with the roll out of the latest Netflix app on 07/28/2015, this has destroyed the connection between Sony and Netflix.   Why neither will admit to this and just simply say sorry...Yes there is an error but we are working to correct this is beyond me.    Sony/Netflix....stop having the customer waste time with dumb fixes and be honest.  People appreciate that more than these idiotic robotic responses that you keep feeding us. Again...my old BDP S280 works and receives Netflix but my brand new released in March 2015 Sony S3500 fails to connect every single time. Stop Lying to your customers, tell the truth and fix the PROBLEM!!!!!!!

  • How do I use my Airport Express with a Blu-ray player?

Hello, first post, long time lurker. Have a question, hope someone can help me
I have an Airport Express V 6.3, currently I have it set to 'Join a wireless network' and its connected wirelessly through a Netgear router that is located on the 1st floor, I'm on 3rd floor by the way. I've been using it for airtunes, but I recently received a Sony Blu-ray Player and would like to connect it the airport express via ethernet cable.
What do I have to set up on the airport express to be able to give the blu-ray player internet?
I've noticed many threads here about airport extreme connected to express...so they weren't too helpful

Welcome to the discussion area, mareithree!
You'll need the 802.11"n" version of the AirPort Express to be able to "Enable ethernet clients" and connect the DVD player. Unfortunately, your older version of the Express does not allow this type of feature.

  • Sony Blu-Ray BDP-S570 won't connect to iMac

    Hello everyone,
I'm trying to connect my new sony blu-ray player to my iMac wirelessly. My iMac is set up as an airport base station, and I have no problems connecting my iPhone to it to use the internet.
Internet sharing is turned on, and i'm using a 40-bit WEP password. Every time I try to connect my blu-ray player, it connects to the network, but cannot connect to the internet. Anyone else have this issue? Any ideas? I'm pretty frustrated.
    Thanks!

Hi there I'm having a similar problem with the s570 - it finds the livebox network ok but I enter the WPA password
The AirPort Extreme can use the following WPA security settings:
    WPA2 Personal
    WPA/WPA2 Personal
Which of these are you trying to use?
Is there something in the instruction sheet or setup page of the Blu-Ray player that specifies exactly what type of security settings are compatible with the device?

I have the older rounded airport and would like to connect it to a Sony blu-ray player via a LAN. Any thoughts?

I assume that your Sony Blu-ray player is network-ready and has an Ethernet port ... correct? If so, there shouldn't be any reason why it couldn't be connected to the LAN (opposing arrows) port on the 802.11g AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) to gain network/Internet access.
