My sound is permanently muted. how do I get it back?

My sound is not working. My volume keys, when I touch them, come up with a circle with a line through it. I haven't been able to figure out how to fix it. Has anyone experienced this?

Greetings,
Do you get the start up chime when you turn the computer on?
Do you hear sound when you plug in headphones?
Try plugging some headphones in and then removing then and see if that gets the sound to start again

• HT3576 I lost the sound even though I have the swish check mark on, how do I get it back

When you send an e-mail you get a swish sound which I always had, now it is gone. How do I get it back. Please advise

It maybe that you have system sounds muted.
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.

• The swoosh sound my iphone5 made when I moved mail to trash has stopped. How do I get it back?

The swoosh sound my iphone5 made when I moved mail to trash has stopped. How do I get it back?

First quit and restart Mail and see if the sound returns. BTW it is selected in Settings > Sounds correct?
Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it works normally.
If that doesn't work try a reboot of your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

How can I cancel ICloud back for the stolen phone, as I cannot delete the stolen phone backup (says that backup is being in use) and this is keeping memory occupied in the Cloud and I cannot back-up the other devices.

• How can I get access back to sounds and lessons I have not downloaded before updating?

When I purchased my Mac about two months ago, I had access to all of the lessons and sounds, I just had to download them. I recently downloaded and installed the update and in doing so I lost access to sounds and lessons I had not downloaded. It tells me that I need to purchase the sounds and lessons package. How can I get access back since I have already purchased it?

Apple does not support downgrading the iOS.
Yes, iOS 7 looks quite different. But there are many new and valuable features. As time goes on you will not remember how it used to look.

• I use Firefox 'Most Visited' for easy access to the websites I use every day. I inadvertently clicked 'Forget About This Site' on a page that I need. That page is gone, apparently permanently, from my 'Most Visted' list. How can I get it back?

I use Firefox 'Most Visited' to access websites I use many times every day. I inadvertently clicked 'Forget About This Site' on a page listing that I need. That page is gone, apparently permanently, from my 'Most Visited' list. No matter how many times I re-visit the page, it will not show up on 'Most Visited'. How can I get it back? Thanks!

Most Visited is an automatically generated list that shows sites that you've visited.
If you delete the history of a site then you have with a visit count of zero.
To make that site reappear in that you you will have to visit that site often enough to make the visit count match the other sites in that list or clear the history from other sites in that list.
You can make the Visit Count column visible in the History Manager to see how many times you've visit sites.

• I've lost the 'whoosh' sound when I send mail. How do I get it back?

I used to have a 'whoosh' sound when I sent mail but it has disappeared. How do I get it back? I'm using a version 10.9.1 Maverick upgrade.

Thanx Tony T1. I have been having issues with mail ever since I 'upgraded' to Mavericks. Why doesn't Apple leave things alone? Now I often can't scroll in Mail and have to shut down and restart Mail to get it to work. That never happened until the Mavericks 'upgrade'.

• I got sound back, but I no longer have the iTunes Radio! How can I get that back?

I got the sound back after resetting, but the iTunes Radio did not come back! How can I get that back?

Check the songs are really not in the Music section of the library by clicking the magnifying glass in the search box and unticking Search Entire Library if it is ticked, then typing in the name of the album. If the tracks still don't show try closing iTunes and deleting a hidden file called sentinel from inside your iTunes folder. This should make iTunes run an integrity check on the database when you start it again. Make sure the tracks are checked before you try syncing again.

• Imported imovie lost sound after I recorded in garageband. How can I get it back?

I imported a movie from iMovie into Garageband. Some of this movie had recorded sound that I wanted to keep. I also wanted to record narration which is why I imported to garageband. After recording the narration of the movie in garageband, all of the original sound in the movie after that point has been lost. Not the stuff before the garageband recording, just after.
How can I get this back?

Thank You for the response Christoph. I'm pretty sure the first possibility is what happened, recorded on the same track as the movie audio. I initially tried moving the audio I recorded in garageband down to the "male basic" track to separate it from the movie audio but that did not work.
I am unsure how to implement your suggestion. How do I extend the region with the movie's audio to the right? I scrolled all the way to the right and did not see any audio original to the move. Can you be more specific?
I appreciate your help. Thank You.
