My sound just disappeared ...HELP !

My sound just up and disappeared.......HELP !

Hello Tonyworks4u,
Welcome to the HP Forums.
It appears that you've lost the sound on your computer. I would like to help you with this.
Just a few questions to start, to gather more information.
What's the model and product number on your computer?
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
When did you first notice the loss of sound?
Are you using speakers, a headset ect.? If so have you tried another?
If you could provide me with the above information it will all me to assist you with getting your sound back.
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

  • Sound just disappears in Wind

I just recently formated and installed the drivers found here for my Soundblaster X-Fi XtremeMusic along with everything else needed (Drivers for gfxcard etc.). But today, whenever I start a movie, my sound just disappears. When I try to go to my volume tap, it says that there is no mixer present.
I look in my Device Manager but my soundcard is still there and absolutely nothing wrong with it. The normal sounds from Windows works fine (Ding, etc.) and this problem persists until I reboot but will then come back if I begin to watch a movie.
This didn't happen before I formated so I find it a tad odd.

Hey i have the same issue. I have a brand new 2G itouch.
I can be listening to music and out of nowhere it will stop playing sound. It shows that music is still playing but no sound is going through. I unplug the headphones and try the external speakers and still nothing. Then i try the headphones again and once again, nothing.
Just today it did it so i turned it off and back on. Less than a minute into it, it did it again. And before that i had reset it a few days before in hopes of resolving this issue.
The sounds for everything else will work. If i push the sleep button it makes the sound, keyboard sound works, every other sound will work when this happens, but not the music.
This is honestly depressing because i expected so much more out of this product. It will work for fine short periods of time just fine but this is just extremely inconvenient. I did expect more especially for apple being the company they are and how much i did pay for it.
Everything is up to date. I constantly check for updates so this nuisance can just disappear.
So any resolutions to my problem?

  • Calendars have just disappeared, Help!

Some of my calendars (with really important information) have completely disappeared! I have switched calendars off and back on in system settings with no joy! Help please?

You are asking a question of a post that was written almost 3 years ago. At that time, there was no FaceTime app for iOS devices.
Try restoring the device to Factory Settings to see if the app shows up (do not restore using a backup):

  • Sound just stopped - help!

I was using my PowerBook this afternoon, and the sound stopped. Here are the specifics:
    1. Menu bar sound control: the sound is turned all the way up, but the control is whited-out, and cannot be modified.
    2. Same is true in the Sound preference panel. Sound controls are fully up, but whited-out, and inaccessible.
    3. When I hit one of the volume buttons on the keyboard, the sound control icon show up on the screen, with all the boxes white (indicating full volume), but beneath them is a "not allowed" icon - circle with a diagonal line through it.
    4. Not only do the speakers not work, the earphone jack doesn't work either.
    5. I rebooted the computer, but it made no difference.
    Any suggestions are welcome!

    Hello,
I had the same problem with my old PB G3. Your sound card is busted. http://www.ifixit.com/PowerBook-Parts/G4-Titanium-DVI-DC-In-Board/IF133-010
You can buy a new one there, but it says you have a powerbook aluminum so,
    http://www.ifixit.com/PowerBook-Parts/G4-Aluminum-15-Inch-1-5-1-67-GHz-DC-Sound- Card/IF154-073
if none of these are the model you have, just look around the website. Another question, can you still charge your laptop? For now I would get some usb headphones. Those will work without a sound card.

  • Both Networks Just Disappeared -- Help!!

I have been using Time Capsule with MacBook Pro since July of 2010 and recently got an iPad. I am also using Apple TV. When I first got the MacBook and the Time Capsule, I set up two secured networks at home. The set-up process was pretty seamless and virtually problem-free (although, to be honest, now I do not remember what I did then). Yesterday evening, however, I noticed that both networks simply "disappeared" on me. Does anyone know why something like this might have happened? Any advice for what I should do to "restore" them, if that's possible? If it's not, would someone care to give me some advice on how to set up new networks, using Time Capsule? Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello PennsylvaniaBarrister. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
You haven't mentioned what you have tried yet to restore your wireless networks, so forgive me if I state the obvious: Have you tried simply, performing a complete power recycle of your networking components?
If not, please try the following:
o Power-down the modem, Time Capsule (TC), and computer(s); wait at least 10-15 minutes.
o Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes.
o Power-up the TC; wait at least 5-10 minutes.
    o Power-up the computer(s).
Computers connected to the TC by wire or wireless should now be able to "see" the wireless networks and gain access to them. Please post back your results.

  • Applications just disappear - help!

Over the last couple of weeks applications that have been running fine suddenly seem to disappear. They are still in the dock, but when I try to access them, I get a question mark and they are nowhere to be found in the Finder. So far I have lost iTunes, iPhoto, and now my address book! I haven't deleted these (nothing in the Trash). Does anyone have any idea as to why this keeps happening? I had to reinstall iPhoto from the disk but there must be a reason as to why they disappear?

Perhaps Spaces is the problem? I have found a repeatable problem with Spaces that causes windows in applications to disappear even when Spaces is NOT enabled. If you tried out Spaces and then clicked the box so Spaces was not enabled, it will start spaces after about 15 minutes by itself.
After this happened to me, I
    1) went to Spaces in the System Preferences
    2) enabled Spaces
    3) removed the applications I had set by clicking on the - (minus) button
    4) unchecked the enable Spaces box
    The disappearing windows stopped.
I have reproduce the disappearing windows by enabling and disabling Spaces several times and each time after I put applications in Spaces and then checked the enabled box, after about 15 minutes, my window would disappear. When it happens, you can press the key combinations to switch between Spaces (Control-arrow or Control-1 or 2, etc.) and it will change the space. Then if you go to the Spaces System Preferences, you will see that it is not enabled.
Another method I found on a different thread was after this happens, go to the Spaces System Preference, check the enable box and then uncheck it.
I tried this and it seems to work too.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-6117dx - Sound just stopped working

Listened to a video earlier, then went to listen to another audio type file and the sound was gone.  Was not experiencing any issues.  Sound just disappeared at some point.  Volume is not muted anywhere.  Please help.
HP Pavilion dv6-6117dx Entertainment Notebook PC
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52501-53000/sp52658.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.
    Regards,

  • I bought my iphone less a month, with a week warranty to be replaced should there be any problem, after a week, while im talking or using any of its softwares, the screen just disappear and i had to restart all over before i can operate it. Please help.

I bought my iphone on 23 June 2011, a week after the warranty period, I noticed that, each time I am on line or using it's software, the screen just disappear and offline just like that, and I had to re-start my iphone.
I have been facing this problem numeral times and not sure what is wrong with it.
Went back to Celcom to report, they asked me to deposit to their technical department and to come back after 2 weeks. (2 weeks) is way too long to wait.
    Please help.
    Thank you.

Do you live near an Apple Store? If so, pop in and see a Genius, if they discover a fault they may replace the phone there and then, for free as part of your 1-year warranty.

    FACETIME MISSING
The governments in some middle eastern countries have banned Facetime and it is disabled on iphones purchased in those countries.  The countries include KAS, UAE and others.  There is no way to get Facetime on such phones (for example it cannot be downloaded and installed) and taking the phone to another country does not cause Facetime to reappear on such phones. In  support.apple.com/kb/ts3367  it says “Note: FaceTime may not be available, or may become unavailable, on devices purchased or used in certain countries, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Check your device's region of purchase for more information.”
