My 'Soundblaster Connect' no Digital Signal to my Home DTS Sys

Hi,
sorry my english is not good because i'm german.
My soundcard 'Soundblaster Connect' is connect with a optical cable to my Home DTS System.
The Signal to my Home Theater System is not Digital, it is Stereo only.
I hate it to have the movie '300' without Digital Effects!

Operating System: WindowsXP ( SP )

If everything else is connecting with no issues, I would go into the wifi setting on the iPad and redo the info there, user, password and anything else related to your wifi at your house.
It is possible whatever he reset may have reset something to default setting which will not allow it to connect. If you need too then verify the wifi setting by comparing it with another device setting that works on your home network.

    I've seen a lot of posts on this subject, but have seen a number of different answers. Hopefully I can get a definiti've answer...
    I have an Audigy 2 ZS card (ordered as part of a Dell E50) in my PC and want to connect it to my home theater system. The home theater system has both analog, digital coax, and digital optical inputs. I want to get the best possible sound quality coming out of the PC to play music, thus I would like to have a digital connection between the PC and receiver.
    The question I have is specifically what type of connector do I need to make this digital connection. I have seen people mention using a regular mini-plug to RCA connector, but didn't really say whether that got a digital signal or not.
    I've looked on the Creative web site a bit, and saw some cables, but didn't know for sure which one was the right one. Please advise specifically what kind of cable I should get for this.

    You will have to ask the store if they have a 3.5mm minijack to RCA cable. Somewhere within the Getting Started program of the Audigy 2 ZS Sound card they have a section which shows you illustrations on how to connect your sound card to different setu

    The digital connection will give you the purest stereo signal for your music, but you will not get surround sound unless you are listening to a surround sound?digital feed which the Home Cinema Recei'ver can understand (i.e. Dolby Digital, DTS, or regular PCM). This means that unelss you are listening to DVD Videos?with Dolby Digital or DTS soundtracks, you will only get stereo sound out the speakers, no multi channel EAX, no DVD Audio or CMSS either. Best thing to do is to connect the sound card to the Home theater system using Analog Mutlichannel input. Get 3 3.5mm to 2 Phono Cables. Plug each 3.5mm end into Line out ,2 and 3 on the back of the sound card. At the other end of the cable, match the 2 phono plugs?to the respecti've sockets on the home cinema amp. For example Line out is the front left and right speaker so just match white with Front Left and red with Front Right. Line out 2 - white goes to Rear/Surround Left and Red goes to Rear/Surround Right, irrespecti've of the colour coding on your amp.
    Line out 3 - white goes to Center, red goes to Subwoofer, irrespecti've of the colour?coding again?- am not too sure on this one so be ready to reverse the connections if the speaker test comes out wrong or the "Front Center" voice booms out of your subwoofer!?By connecting it through multi channel analog input, the sound card will do all the decoding, so you can enjoy CMSS, EAX, Neo:6 and any other multi channel pleasure that the Sound Card provides in all its glory.     I am having a similar issue. I would like to connect my Audigy 2ZS to a Sony Reciever (STR DE-898) preferably via the digital out. The sound card and reciever are 25 feet apart.
    I have read that the digital out on the Audigy 2ZS is specifically for creative lab speakers, and that if you connect it to a normal reciever that it may damage the reciever is this true?
    Second, the other option that I have is to buy the 7. adaptor and connect RCA extension cables to the reciever.
    The last option is to connect it to the regular headphone jack out, and use an extension cable to connect to the reciever (This is what I am currently using), but the sound quality is terrible.

    I understand that my SB Audigy 2 card will only output 5. sound from games through its 3 analogue connectors. How do I convert this analogue signal into a digital one? What hardware do I need to purchase?
    I have read the thread on "Digital Connections, SPDIF and Dolby Digital Info", and also I've thoroughly read the "Creative Speaker Connectivity Guide".
    The reason I ask is that I have just bought a pair of Pioneer SE-DIR800C Surround Sound headphones. This are supposedly fantastic for recreating surround sound on headphones because there is a clever little decoder box. They accept a DTS / Dolby Digital signal via the digital co-axial and optical inputs, and there is a single analogue input which only accepts stereo sound.
    My XBox and PS2 will output true digital 5. sound via an optical cable and I am confident this will work perfectly with these headphones. I'm really looking forward to playing Halo in surround sound! But for gaming on my PC, I'll be limited to just an analogue stereo signal. Well, unless I can find some device that will convert my SoundBlaster's analogue 5. outputs into a digital signal, which I can then plug into the little decoder box for these headphones.
    So, back to my question:
    What hardware do I need to buy to convert an analogue 5. signal (via 6 x RCA or 3 x 3.5mm stereo ) into a true digital signal (via optical or co-axial SP/DIF)? Is it some type of headphone amplifier I need? If possible, please recommend makes & models of equipment.

    OK, basically I have found 3 options for getting digital 5. out of a PC:
    a) Creative DTS-60 (approx $90). This converts the SB's analogue into digital, but it's not available in the UK and it also introduces a noticeable 50ms sound delay. Also, who wants an extra box hanging out of their PC?
    b) Buy a new sound card which has Dolby Digital Li've output. For example, ) BlueGears HDA X Mystique 7., or 2) Turtle Beach Montego DDL, or 3) Terratec Aureon 7. PCI (NOT the Space, FireWire or Uni'verse cards). I couldn't find the first two available in the UK so I have just ordered the Terratec card from Komplett.
    c) Buy a new motherboard that has built-in Dolby Digital Li've output, for example the ABIT Fatalty AA8XE. Unfortunately my PC is only just over year old and I'm not quite ready to replace it.

  • Measuring digital signals coming from the HSDIO (PXI-6542) with the DMM (PXI-4070)

    in attachment you can find the program I'm using for my measurement: I'm generating and acquiring digital signals with the PXI-6542 and at some trigger point of one of those digital signals I'd like to capture the measured values on a plot with the Digital MultiMeter (PXI-4070).
    It does work if you configure the generation repeat mode as continuous, but if you do have a finite repetition (repeat count is 1) it doesn't react on the trigger, as if it can't find a trigger. On the other hand, if you have a finite repeat count of 30 or more it does react and triggers correctly again.
    First I though it had something to do with autocalibration before the measurement takes place, but If you do a highlight execution (stepping through the program) it looks like it measures before the generation session is initialized.
    Is there a way to measure correctly when the repeat count is only 1?

    Hey Jürgen.  I apologize that you haven't gotten an answer yet to your post.  I looked at your code and had some questions.  What is the source of your trigger to your DMM?  I see that you're exporting the data active event to PFI1, and your comments indicate that PFI1 and PFI2 are connected to give you a start trigger for your digital acquisition.  Exporting the data active event with a finite or continuous pulse should only give you a single edge per run, though - you wouldn't get a pulse each time.  Is your trigger coming from a data line?  I didn't see any line in your included data that would indicate a single pulse.
    The other thing that I noticed is that you've got no timing dependency between your HSDIO code and your DMM code - they're in parallel with each other.  Thus you could get different results run-to-run, since it's not deterministic as to which parallel "thread" that LV will start on first.  LV may switch back and forth several times, but let's say that LV reaches the HSDIO Start command before reaching the DMM Start command - in that case, the HSDIO device may finish it's entire operation before the DMM ever starts looking for a trigger, and thus never get the trigger at all.  I'm not sure why this would explain why you're seeing the finite case work and the continuous case not, but I wanted to point it out because it could bite you down the road.
    I hope some of this this helps get you going in the right direction.  I'd also suggest posting HW-centric questions in the appropriate form.  There are Digital forums and DMM forums that might help you reach people that will be more familiar with your particular hardware.

  • Digital Signal Modification (PCIe 6320)

    We've got a digital signal which is basically a series of trigger pulses for a receiving device, constantly pulsing. However, the pulses need to be modified so that e.g. only every third pulse ends up on the receiving device, but not more than e.g. 4 pulses, with a given delay of e.g. 2 pulses.
    Using this example, input and output signal should look the following:
    in : 1---1---1---1---1---1---1---1---1---1---1---1---1---1---1---1
    out: --------1-----------1-----------1-----------1----------------
    We've got it basically working using Digital Edge Counting and connecting/disconnecting terminals as needed. However, the task is very time critical and I'm seeking for a solution that works as close to hardware as possible (ideally, the task should be carried out by the card itself after setting up the parameters).
    We've got a PCIe 6320 that we want to use for this task, we are programming in C using the DAQmx C library.

    Since your real code is different than what was posted, I can only take some guesses for why you can't count more than (about?) 1 million pulses.
    1.  If your real code doesn't wire a "# of samples" value to DAQmx Timing.vi, then a continuous task that is told it's acquiring at 100 MHz will use a default buffer size of 1 million samples.  You can create a bigger buffer by wiring in a bigger value.  You can also loop over your Read calls to help prevent a buffer overflow.
    2.  Theres a limit to the rate you can stream data from the board to system RAM.  The X-series is very VERY much better than most of its predecessors in this regard for counter-based measurements.  (See this thread and associated links.)  But it still won't handle 100 MHz effective sampling rates for any appreciable duration.
    3. Another option I've seen used is count binning.  That method works kinda inside-out from your method by letting the external pulses increment the count while that count is sampled at a constant sample rate.
    4. I haven't yet been able to do any real-life playing with an X-series board, but I think there's also a mode for measuring precise frequency while sampling at a constant rate.  That mode might prove useful for you as well.

    I tryed to install my SoundBlaster 5. Digital on my 2nd system to connect the PC with my amplifier, but it doesn?t work. When I restart after the installation I get an error message in WinXP. The file: READRET.exe was not found on your system...
    I am not able to open SurMixer and some other applications. Also I?ve no sound.
    On my first PC I was using the card for around 2 years without great problems.
    The mainboard of the 2nd PC (Elitegroup K7S6A (SiS745)) is really old, but there is no difference between PCI-Slots.

  • Amplify digital signal voltage

    I am trying to read a frequency input on my cRIO 9004 unit, using a NI-9425 model. I am aware that the 9425 unit is a static digital input module. However I can read frequency input(from a function generator) ,as my frequency input range is much less than the update frequency (140 kHz).  Now the 9425 recognises anything <5V as Off state and > 10V as on-state. My signal is a 0-5V signal, so the problm is i can never read it on the module. i have looked into other compitable modules, but the sad part is my budget does not permit a new unit now. So i am trying to work around it. I am looking for a a digital signal voltage amplifier that can amplify my 0-5V signal to 0-10V signal, THAT MAINTAINS THE FREQUENCY OF THE SIGNAL INTACT, as that is the very data I want. I have been looking at voltage -translators from TI,NXP etc. who offer digital signal voltage amplification, but I am not sure if it is a good solution for  LOSSLESS DATA ACQUISITION. i am basically a Mechanical Engineer, and have not faced this problem before. Has anyone come across such a situation? What do the electronics gurus suggest? Does NI offer any such voltage amplification for digital data that is also cost effective?

    Can't you use a secondary voltage supply which can supply the 10V and put an opto-coupler in between?
    The opto-coupler acts like a relay, it's only safer because there is no electrical/mechanical connection between the signal side and power side.
    Let your 5V switch the opto-coupler from false-true, and on the power side you have the 10V which is going to your DAQ card
    Concerning to speed, because an opto-coupler works with light, it's for sure fast enough to handle the 140Hz frequence

    Dear,
    I am working on a test stand that will be used for fatigue tests for a suspension, chassis etc. De vehicle components will be charged by hydraulic cylinders. These hydraulic cylinders are controlled by an AO and DO module (NI9263 & NI9401). Feedback is given by load cells. These load cells are connected with AI module (NI9201).
    When a cylinder reaches a certain force (certain amplitude load cell NI9201) the cylinders stops pulling and will make an outward movement. This signal is 0 when outgoing and 1 when certain force is reached. A green led starts to burn (signal is 1) when the force is reached. When the force is zero (close to zero) another signal is sent out. Another green led starts to burn. Now I want the cylinder to make an outgoing movement until the force is zero (close to zero).
    The problem is that when the cylinder makes an outgoing movement and as soon the force is a little under the maximum force (signal green led is 0) the cylinder will immediately go back in. I want the cylinder to wait until the force is zero (signal is true for green led negative peak) and then go back in. I have tried to make several case structures but I didn't manage to make it work. Can you help me?

    I have cleaned up my VI, but I'm still struggling with rewriting the old VI. I'm trying to put the old VI into a producer/consumer design pattern (events), but I really don't know where to start. You said I have to get rid of the DAQ Assistants, but with what do I have to replace them?
    aeastet: I also studied ''There must be a better way of doing this''. The signals of the load cells are the producer and the Analog Out & Digital Out signals to the valves of the hydraulic cylinders are the consumer. Do I have to write the signals of the load cells to an array? The data of the load cells also needs to be written to an Excel file and when a certain peak is reached a digital signal must be send out to the valves. I really need a little push in the right direction.

    Is there any way to send out an analog signal and a digital signal at
    the same time? Time is critical in my application. Milisecond delay is

    You went a little too far. the while loop I was talking about was the one around the digital write. You've now taken the digital write completely out of the loop and closing it. You can't do anything with the digital when the analog in is running. You've also closed the analog write while the analog in is running. The attached is more like what I was talking about.
    Even with the diagram cleaned up, it sounds like you still have a problem. I don't know the details of your hardware setup but I would start by looking at the analog signal you are generating and verifying that it is correct to your hardware. It would help if you had a scope to troubleshoot. If the signal is correct to the hardware, then trace it through to the connection to the DAQ's analog input. If it's correct there and you still don't see the signal, then you may have wired up the DAQ incorrectly. You haven't specified the connection type (differential, RSE, etc) and I believe it will default to differential.

    You're simulating an analog signal and the DAQ Assistant is configured to output a digital signal.
    To create a digital waveform, look for an example or checkout functions available in 'Digital Waveform VIs and Functions' sub-palette.
    Or you can also think of spending some money on buying 'NI Digital Waveform Editor'.
    I am not allergic to Kudos, in fact I love Kudos.
     Make your LabVIEW experience more CONVENIENT.

    I'm not understand the relationship between the components of your system (or even what they are!). You'll have to clear your system description a little bit.
    1.- You have a DAQ board, what model?. This is important since it will determine what VIs you can use. Are you using the board for Analog input, anolog output ...?
    2.- "The DAQ card relays the information to a digital oscilloscope", What do you mean by this?. Is the digital scope a hardware device or some sort of software component?.
    3.- ActiveX is used to communicate different software components, not to communicate with external instruments. Again, what is the o-scope?.
    4.- Initially you say that Win600 is a machine and then a program. Which one is it?.
    I think once this quest
    ions are cleared up we can start thinking of solutions.

  • NVIDEA outputs digital signal to LCD projector

    We are having a different problem with connecting to LCD projectors at our school. The problem seems to result from a Crestron media manager between the MBP and the projector. the MBP connects via the DVI-to-VGA adaptor. If the MBP has the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT card, it sends a digital signal to the projector and nothing shows up on the screen. Displays preference panel shows the 2nd monitor as "Digital 170T." There are 3 MBPs showing this behavior. one older MBP with an ATI Radeon X1600 card connects just fine. My G4 with an ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 also worked (for over 3 years). both show a "VGA" connection in Displays preference panel.
    The NVIDIA MBPs can connect directly to an LCD projector and output a VGA signal that works. it seems that the intermediate Crestron system is not sending a signal that the NVIDIA requires to know it is connected to a VGA display. and of course, Crestron is telling our support people it is not their problem; NVIDEA's web support doesn't even touch Mac topics.
    So how do we convince the NVIDIA card to output a VGA signal from the DVI port?

    Nvidia Control Panel. Change the video output. Should work.

  • Is there a better way to generate custom timed digital Signals

    I am trying to generate digital output of high and lows with particular delays on different lines. Each daq assistant is activating single line on a port on USB 6501. There more complex high and lows that I need to generate with variable time difference between high and low. There is codebelow which accomplishes what I am trying to achieve but for executing a long pattern of high and low signal is very time consuming to do this way. I am sure there is a better way to do this, I  not a expert on labview so I haven't uncovered its full potential. Can anybody suggest a more effective and a quick way to do this. I would hgihly appreciate. Thanks!
