My subscription to BT Sport?!

I have the full BT package, phone, broadband, TV , all except Infinity (not available in our area yet I am informed). I 'signed up' for BT Sports months ago over the phone and was told I would be contacted and I would also get a card which would cost a one-off £10. Someone phoned in my absence a couple of weeks ago and asked if I still wanted the Sports channel. To date I have heard nothing else and I feel BT do not make it easy for the novice to understand what, if anything, is happening. For example, I have never had an email confirming that I am signed up.
Does one get connected automatically on Aug 1st? Do I still need to get a card? And if so when will I get it? Will I not be able to get HD without access to Infinity? Is there anything else I need to do?
Very grateful if anyone out there could explain these things to me please?

Here's another last minute question... will our ESPN viewing cards automatically switch to BT Sport. Similar to the first post, I registered my interest months ago, but have not recontracted (currently in contract until November)
Information has been vague, customer service advice has been conflicting, and following links online sends us in circles. I'm hoping, but not expecting, that tomorrow I can watch BT Sport on TV and my current viewing card will work. (I know by not recontracting yet I wont have access to the app)
No your current viewing card will not work with BT Sport. You need BT to send you a new one and you will have to agree to a new 12 month contract.

Just received email from BT saying my free subscription for BT sport comes to an end in July. I have to click on link to renew my subscription to BT broadband for another 12 month contract to receive BT sport again. Is the sport subscription free again it doesn't make this clear anywhere ?

I think you can only cancel BT Sport on Sky over the phone. See the Contact Us link at the top of the forum pages.
Is there a free BT Sport 1 only option on Sky for BT broadband customers? The £5 is for the full set of channels including the new BT Sport Europe channel.
    See  https://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Sport/BT-has-announced-its-new-packages-for-BT-Sport-for-the-15-16/td...
    which says
"For those who don’t wish to take BT Sport Europe, BT will give its broadband customers the option of receiving BT Sport 1 for free for a third season. This channel will show all 38 live Barclays Premier League matches as well as the Aviva Premiership and SPFL."

  • Can I stream the BT Sport app to my TV?

Can I stream the BT Sport app to my TV?
The BT Sport app is compatible with both Apple TV and Google Chromecast devices, allowing you to watch video from the app on your television.
For either to work, the device on which you are running the BT Sport app must be on the same Wifi network as your Apple TV or Chromecast.
Please note, to get the best quality experience on your TV we recommend a minimum broadband line speed of 2mbps.
    Apple TV
Apple TV set-up instructions are available here
Once you have set up your Apple TV according to the manufacturer's instructions and put your TV on the correct HDMI channel, access the app as normal on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.
If the device senses an Apple TV on the same network, an Airplay icon (pictured) will appear in the bottom right corner of the video player.
Tap this icon and select 'Apple TV' from the menu that appears. The video will then be sent to your television.
When you are using Airplay functionality within the BT Sport app, the video will not also appear on the screen of your device.
    Google Chromecast
Chromecast set-up instructions are available here
You can 'cast' video to a Chromecast from either the iOS or Android version of the BT Sport app.
First, set up your Chromecast according to the manufacturer's instructions and put your TV on the correct HDMI channel.
If the device running the BT Sport app is on the same Wifi network as a fully set-up Chromecast, a casting icon appears in the top right-hand corner of the app home screen.
When the user taps the casting icon, a pop-up window appears displaying all Chromecast devices detected. The user needs to select the Chromecast that they wish to cast to, regardless of whether they only have a single device.
Once the device is connected to the Chromecast, the casting icon in the top right corner is illuminated blue
When the casting icon is illuminated, it does NOT mean that the page is mirroring to your TV. It simply means that, when you do start playing a video on the app, it will cast to your TV.
A viewer can also start casting while a video is already playing within the app, by following exactly the same process.
When you are casting from the BT Sport app to your television, the video will not also appear on the screen of your device.
If you are having problems streaming the BT Sport channels to your Chromecast, it is recommended that you try using the extender that is included in the Chromecast packaging, as it may be that the Chromecast is not receiving a strong enough Wifi signal from your router.
You can find more help via this link How to stream through Chromecast on the BT Sport App

  • Can I get the BT Sport App if I order BT Sport on ...

I'd just like a bit of help clarifying something up as i'm struggling to understand how this works, so i've looked at the FAQ about the BT Sport App and found this:
Who can get the BT Sport App?
The BT Sport App and online access at btsport.com is included when you take the BT Sport Pack on the Sky Digital Satellite Platform or BT TV.
If you're a BT Broadband customer but not a BT Sport television channel subscriber, you can add the BT Sport App and online access to your BT products by logging into My BT on or after 1 August. Then simply download the app from your device's app store, or go to btsport.com from 1 August to start viewing.
Now I don't have BT Broadband/TV or anything but i'd really like to get BT Sport as it's now my only way to watch UFC, my grandad has Sky TV with sky sports at the moment and I use his Sky Go to watch the footy
If I order BT Sport from his Sky account and pay the 12£ per month for bt sport, can I use the BT Sport App to watch the UFC/Footy etc?
Can I get the BT Sport App if I order BT Sport on Sky is what i'm basically asking haha
Thanks for reading, would love to sort this out before the UFC on Saturday!

I copied this from this website. The app merely plays the content. You have to subscribe.

  • Cancelled Sky, now how to watch BT sport

    Hi
As per title, I've just given one month notice to quit Sky.
At present I watch BT sport on channels 413 & 414 on the sky box with my Sky card.
In a month's time how do I watch BT sport?
Is it online or via my BT vision box and how do I transfer it from Sky?

A cancelled sky subscription card 'reverts' to a free sat from sky card, which will enable you to watch BT Sport with that card on a sky card/box.
Just like lots of people do, myself included.

  • BT Vision - recordings to be deleted?

Forgive me if this has been answered elsewhere
My elderly parents have just had a phone call from 08000285085 telling them that unless they watch their recorded programs on their black BT vision box they will be deleted in 14 days. Is this correct?
I also have the same vision box but havn't had a phone call so just wondered if they understood the message correctly.
The only difference between us is that I just have the box (since 2010 I think) without subscription using it just for recording and free BBC iplayer. Dad pays a subscription for Sky Sports 1 & 2
Neither of us pay for infinity although we live in an enabled area.
Is it right then that all recordings are due to be deleted? Why?
    many thanks

    Hi tattybogle18.
    To answer your question:
    a) because BT won't have to pay for (expensive?) Microsoft licenses to run the old software anymore, and will be able to invest the savings into more channels and content (which they seem to be in the process of doing)
    b) because the old software looked like something that came out of the 90's
    c) because in all likelihood the old software would not have been able to support new features like linear channels
    d) etc.
Am I really the only one here who thinks the new software looks so much better than the old one?

  • Contract renewal rip off

Ok so month every month we pay our bt bill - our account was in credit.
Last month the remote started acting up (we were well out of our previous contract) however when i contacted BT they said if  I renewed my contract I would get a new box and my package price would actually come down slightly.
I was told there would be no extra charges, and that my direct debit dates would stay the same and that my monthly amount would decrease slightly.
    So what happened?
    1) The Direct debit did not come out on the usual date - BT tried to take a few days later than normal
    2) The Direct debit amount did NOT decrease - it WENT UP by roughly 50%
    3) The direct debit was returned ( we left enough in that account to cover the usual amount but not 50% more
    4) They resubmitted the increased direct debit and took the extra money
    5) They ignored an emailed formal complaint
    6) live chat today was a complete joke
    The details are
Including bt infinity our whole package comes to £88.89 per month - we have been paying £97.50 per month which keeps our account in credit
However because i renewed the contract BT took £141.50 !!!
now apparently this is to clear the 'balance' - I questioned this because how can ther be an outstanding balance when we paid more than our bill EVERY month.
So according to Live chat i have been billed for
    Line Rental 8 May-7 Aug 15 £ 50.97
    BT Answer 1571 8 May-7 Aug 15 £ 5.55
    Broadband and Calls 8 May-7 Aug 15 £ 72.30
    Refund: BT TV- Unlimited ExtraW24 Apr-7 May 15 - £ 7.00
    Subscription
    Refund: Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2W23 Apr-7 May 15 - £ 11.00
    Refund: Sky MoviesW23 Apr-7 May 15 - £ 6.75
    BT TV - Entertainment 23 Apr-7 May 15 £ 3.73
    BT TV - Entertainment 8 May-7 Aug 15 £ 22.35
    Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 23 Apr-7 May 15 £ 11.00
    Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 8 May-7 Aug 15 £ 66.00
    Sky Movies 23 Apr-7 May 15 £ 6.75
    Sky Movies 8 May-7 Aug 15 £ 40.50
    BT Sport HD Pack 20 Apr-7 May 15 £ 1.80
    BT Sport HD Pack 8 May-7 Aug 15 £ 9.00
now perhaps someone can help explain this to me because it looks like as a result of me renewing my contract (i was told there would be no extra charges) that i am being billed now for services up until August !!!
Apparently a superivisor will contact me within 24-48 hours .... I wont hold my breath
So beware - if you renew your contract it WILL cost you more money even if they tell you it wont...in my case it has cost me £52.61 plus bank charges for my 'FREE' bt vision box

  • RE: Contract Renewal

I received an email today about being able to continue my subscription for BT Sports for free for another year by renewing my contract. If I do renew the contract will this also renew my contract for my phone and broadband? If this does renew my contract for everything will I be able to receive a HH5 free of charge as I currently I have a HH3 with the white openreach modem?
    Solved!

If you renew for btsports then that will renew your package for another 12 months. I would try the options team and see if you can get a better deal and at same time ask for HH5. You probably need to pay the £6.95 postage
i would think about changing to HH5 and would read some of the posts on problems with HH5 and dropping connection

  • Remote skips 2 (or more) when press once

My parents in law have the latest black box with the larger hard drive but they have the original black remote (see picture).
After they updated to the new software this issue started.
when they press up, down, left or right it skips two or three -  ie on tv guide they try to press down and it skips three channels , this also happens on the menus ect.
They also cant get to the channels as when they press the number buttons it shows the first number flashes and will not register any additional numbers.
I have done a hard reset and reset the remote. I dont know if this is the remoye or the box does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks

Engineer came and replaced the box with a YouView box, apparently he told my mother in law that eventually they would be changing everyone to the youview box (please bear in mind that this info is 2nd (3rd?) hand).
If she got upgraded to a BT Youview box for free then that's good news. Interesting if that is now a strategy for replacing faulty boxes. Of course it might have just been because that's all the engineer had in his van at that time!
BT stated a few years ago in the corporate annual report that Youview and Infinity are the long term target platform. Currently though, they can't stop sending out BT Vision+ boxes to some customers for two reasons.
    (1) The BT Youview box has no viewing card slot so you need to be on Infinity to get the BT Sport channels. The BT Vision+ box can also use a viewing card to get the versions that come over the TV aerial. So we all need to get on Infinity!
    (2) BT are not allowed to sell subscriptions for Sky Sports on the BT Youview box. They are still arguing with Sky and Ofcom about this.

  • Can I buy more channels on my apple tv?

    Can I?

    No.
The only things you can add if you haven't got them are things like a Netflix subscription or various sports feeds in the US.
AppleTV is really designed around streaming/renting media purchased from itunes store over the internet or across the LAN if iTunes is running on a computer.  You can add say home video footage provided it is in an AppleTV compatible h264 format - if you have home video it would usually need to be converted/exported to iTunes in such an AppleTV compatible format which would be easier on a Mac than a PC given Mac apps sharing' export options.
Apple does add (and ? might remove) some new media icons from time to time - Vimeo, WSJ and Netflix were added in recent years amongst others - presumably it depends what deals Apple can strike with various media companies.
It does not really replace cable/satellite/terrestrial TV in the sense there are not dozens of live channels to view.  It has no tuner.

  • Suspicious BT Broadband Renewal Email

I received today an email purporting to come from BT Sport asking me to click an embedded link to renew BT Broadband by 14th Aug, otherwise I'd have to start paying subscriptions for BT Sport.   Suspicious because (1) the email does not contain any reference to my name or account number, (2) I didn't realise BT Broadband had to be renewed, and (3) the request to click an embedded link.   Is this a phishing attempt?

You possibly set up an auto-renewing subscription with the app - there are instructions on this page on how to manage them, including how to stop them : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4098
