I have a compaq evo d310.I watch movies on a 17 inch screen and cannot maximise the screen as it makes alot of noise.
This only happens when am watching a movie otherwise the system is usually silent.Please help!!

I would expect that it would make an unusual noise if plugged into a generic USB charger that does not have enough oomph to charge a pad to alert you - otherwise, you might think the noise is reassuring that you are actually charging it.

I guess my question was actually more of a comment on the (lack of) design! It is unusual that something like this would still be in an Apple product. There are wall chargers that have a USB port on them that do not have the required oomph to charge the iPad. I have one that has two USB ports, one for my iPhone (it won't charge an iPad), and one for an iPad with greater amperage rating. I accidentally used the wrong ones for a while yesterday, but noticed before being "surprised" the next morning by an uncharged iPad. The iPad is smart enough to say "Not charging" by the battery icon when it is plugges in to one of these, so it "knows" - seems like it would be fairly simply to have the iPad make a different or additional noise wehn it puts up the "Not charging" text icon. Failsafe user experience?

It's more like a grinding sound. I was trying to convert the dvd with Mpeg Streamclip when it started , After that I tried with Handbrakes and got the same sound. I gave it a rest and inserted another dvd and it was fine. Now I don't know what to do, looks like the drive is ok..

None of my addons or extentions work any more since installing 3.6.6. When I go Tools/Add-ons it just goes 'ding' [makes an error noise] when I click on any oth the options and then firefox freezes up.

Delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox [[Profiles|profile folder]] to reset the extensions registry.

Click here for information; if the computer beeps three or fewer times, remove and reinsert the computer's RAM. If it beeps four or more times, it needs to be repaired. If it's a G5, it will ignore RAM modules that aren't part of a matching pair.

Freezing video when watching movie on 2nd monitor.

Freezing fregrently for a second video when watching movie with ful screen option.
OSX 10.6.8 system.
MacBook pro 3,1
2.2 GHZ
memory 4GB
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT

You won't be able to do it with the included QuickTime media player. But it can be done with other media players like MPlayer or VLC I am pretty sure. Haven't had this exact need myself but have seen other similar threads and recall the above being recommended. Good luck.

Air Screen Dims when watching movies

Hi all! This is a stupid question. I've just purchased a new macbook air 11.6 in and when watching movies (not in ful screen) the screen dims, Im assuming because of inactivity with keyboard, etc. I dont like to watch all movies in full screen, so how do I change the settings to allow for longer 'inactive' times? Meaning, I don't want the screen to dim after only 5 minutes. Thanks!

In System Preferences > Energy Saver > uncheck "Automatically reduce brightness before display goes to sleep"
Also adjust the sleep timer to suit.

My "Apple TV" is hooked up via HDMI to my Marantz receiver. Everything works fine when watching movies. When trying to watch a show or listen to music, there is no sound. Has this happened to anyone else?

When watching movie on ATP2 the display of computer never sleeps

When watching movies on ATV2 the display of computer will not go to sleep. After fiddling with setting both on computer as well as ATV2 the problem still persists. This coincidentally happened after lastest upgrade never had the problem with last firmware. Is anybody having the same problems?.

when the computer fall asleep it power down it's harddisk and it's netcard
so you would likely be more bothered if it did fall asleep because then you're atv2 would
lose the access to the media if you play media from your shared itune lib

HP LaserJet CP1525nw makes terrible swealing noise when printing

The product makes a loud squealing noise when printing. It also leaves streak marks on envelopes.
Product was purchased Dec. 21, 2010, so is only a little over one year old, but is out of warranty.
Please also advise where I can find authorized HP LaserJet repair in Brooklyn, NY.

Yes, it's normal.
Apple released a firmware update a couple of years ago that was supposed to stop the drive from making that noise in certain models that were available then, but even the update didn't work all the time. The noise is completely harmless and not indicative of any problem. Just ignore it.

Photosmart 7520 - error code 0x61011beb makes alot of noise and will not print!!!!

I am at the year mark with this print. It has only been used about five times. I tried to use it one day and recieved an error message 0x61011beb. The printer is making alot of noise like its moving the ink over too far and do not know when to stop it. I have tried about everything. Unplugging, resetting, and just about everything that is mentioned on here to do. I am at a lost right now.
You only use the printer when needed. I had an interview and could not print my resume. I am not liking this HP at the moment. It is really letting me down.

I am sorry your printer has let you done when you needed it most! Let's see what we can do to get it working again.
The error message you are seeing generally means 'carriage jam'. Please use the solutions offered in the following document to resolve the issue; A 'Carriage Jam' Message Displays on the Control Panel.
If the issue persists, I recommend calling HP and letting the know the issue as well as the steps you have already completed. It may be helpful to even let them know you completed all of the steps in HP document #c03405144.

HP printers generally have a 1 year warranty from their purchase date, you can verify the warranty using the following link if you would like; warranty check.
Even if the printer is out of warranty, it is best to call HP to see what they have to offer.

Why does my macbook make a funny noise when I open it?

After my macbook pro has been on the charger for some time & I open it up, it will make a funny noise & the screen will be blue with a bar on it. Takes a little bit before I can use it, Does anyone know what is wrong?

IPod makes a funny noise when skipping too quick..

Anyone else getting a loud 'clicking' noise when you skip too fast thru tracks? It's like it loads a fraction of the track, then pauses while it gets the next one, but instead of pausing, just repeats the fraction of the track and makes a really really loud fast 'clicking' noise for 2 or 3 seconds and locks up while it's doing it. Never did that before the update. Makes me want to throw the phone out the window with that and the battery life!!

I had the same problem last night minus the humming noise. A movie froze on my 5th gen ipod. It remained that way the rest of the night. I couldnt turn it off or, the screen remained on. I tried plugging it into the usb and still nothing. My computer wouldnt even read it. Luckily by the time i awoke this morning it had finally turned off. My guess is to dead battery. So i plug it into my comp and wait about 5 minutes and it finally was read by my computer...

My G5 doesn't make the Chiming noise anymore when I restart it. I also noticed that the light blinks in frequency of 3 flashes, so I removed one of the RAMs based on the instructions listed in the manual. Now it only flashes once periodically everytime I restart it.

You need to reinstall that module or replace it. A Power Mac G5 won't recognize RAM which isn't part of a matching pair.
