My text messages are coming through with ID as the phone number not the name? How do I change this on iPhone 4S?

All of a sudden this happened yesterday. I didn't change anything it just happened. Any advice on how to put it back they way it was?

talkingqueen56 lets get the device running smoothly again! To make sure I'm on the same page, messages are coming in as the phone number instead of the saved contact? If so, is this happening with iMessages and standard text messages?

When reception allows the iPhone sends and receives the messages, this is also dependent on the reception of the other phone you are communicating with. If you really feel you have a problem, contact your Carrier about the problem.

We want to provide you all the answers that you need. Verizon Messaging is a great application that we offer. When you logged into the website for the messages did you sign out when you were done? If not it still may assume you are online and wanting to receive messages.

On the recipient's device, the "name" displayed for the sender is based on the information for the email address (or email address) you used to send the Message in the recipients Contact app.

My messages app on my computer is typing in another language (not english). How do I change this?

I finally got the app to link with my phone and it all to work. But now it's typing in Arab or something when the rest of my computer is in English.

Back up all data.
Launch the Font Book application and validate all fonts. You must select the fonts in order to validate them. See the built-in help and the support article linked below for instructions. If Font Book finds any issues, resolve them, then boot in safe mode* (by holding down the shift key at the startup chime) to rebuild the font caches. Boot again as usual and test.

*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. In that case only, after running Font Book, launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
sudo atsutil databases -remove
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. After running the command, reboot as usual.

To prevent messages from reaching both devices you can turn off Messages on the device you do not want to receive messages but keep Messages on on the device you do want to receive Messages.
You might also look at this option for both devices.
Settings > Messages > Send and Receive > review the a riotous choices for how you can e reached and select the ones that are most appropriate for you and the device you are setting.

Texts messages r coming through as though my phone on silent, im hoping next update corrects this prob,

not sure if this started happening after last update but my phone most of the time goes straight on voice mail even though i have service and no alerts to say i have a missed call, also most of my text messages r coming through on silent also so i am losing alot of buisness, has any1 else had or having the same prob, im hoping it corrects in the next update, it a new iphone5s, ty

Go to control center on your IOS 7 and verify that your 'do not disturb' is disabled.

Settings > Messages > Send and Received > Uncheck any number/email that does not belong to the device
Note: The little blue (>) will give you an option to remove the number/email from the device

Add this one to the list of thinks that don't work on the Apple Job Board. It looks like Apple is using ADP's VE (Virtual Edge) technology to run this system, and I've been stupified by the number of features that are just broken, or so poorly thought out by ADP as to be unusable, (certainly for webkit and mozilla browsers at least: I didn't bother checking IE.)
Here are a few highlights:
"My Job List", list of jobs applied for, seems to max out at three. You can apply for more than that, but you can only see the first three.
"Search Using Your Resume" feature yields few or no results, even when the pasted text contains only common, exactly matched words like 'Design' or 'Engineer'.
The missing resume upload, described in this thread.
"My Job Agent" seems to never flag anything, at least it hasn't ever for me despite pretty loose criteria.
Agent's created using "My Job Agent" eventually just disappear, which is fine because they don't seem to work.
When updating a profile, acknowledging the 'Terms' happens twice in a row.
Job seekers can only supply one cover letter despite being able apply for several jobs.
Pagination for search results only appears at the top of the page, so it's necessary to scroll down through each page, then up to the top again to proceed to the next page.
Well, I'm sure there are others, but you get the idea. I hope the Apple folks can fix this, (or twist ADP's arm to fix it,) so it better represents the quality of experience that Apple is so respected for consistently delivering.

You choose whether to see text messages in Notification Center or not. If you elect to see them, they will display the phone number (unless they are from a contact in your contacts list).
You can choose not to see them at Settings > Notification Center > Messages.

Try restarting your iPhone by holding down the on/off and the home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, double check the volume button just in case. If you still can't hear the tones go into your settings>sounds and make sure the options are on.

When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive. It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas? Hello cor-el, thanks for your reply. I changed my settings for downloads to desktop and it has appeared on there. When I double click I am asked which program I want to open file. I click firefox and another box "opening install" says I have chosen to open the file which is an application and do I want to save it. This is the only real option so I press save file. I get a box saying this is an executable file which may contain viruses - do you want to run. I press ok and the final box showing C drive file name and desktop appears stating application not found.
This happens the same whenever I try to install.
To my untrained eye the application is not being recognised as an application and I cannot work out how to get it to do that.
My plugin is still showing as out of date.
Is there anything you could suggest. Thanks for your time.

Try forcing all open applications to close and power cycle the device as outlined in the first two sections of the article below. If the issue persists, try the troubleshooting steps in the second article.
Restart the app
Close the app and open it again.
