My thunderbird recently updated, now I cannot "send" emails?? help

Since I let Thunderbird update yesterday, I have not been able to send emails. WE have checked and rechecked the smtp settings. I can receive emails but cannot send.
Help please. This is what I get:
The message could not be sent using SMTP server smtp.antrimcountytitleinc.com for an unknown reason. Please verify that your SMTP server settings are correct and try again, or contact your network administrator.

tried disabling outgoing mail scanning in your anti virus program?

    Try this:
    First create an empty folder...no photos in it...now, connect your phone and under the photos tab select sync photos & select this folder. Since there is nothing in it, no photos will be added to your phone, but hopefully this will remove the photos that are on your phone.

    I had a power failure 2 days ago, my computer is running again, but now I cannot send email from my iPad using Cox or my gmail account. I am receiving mail in my Cox account but not my gmail account.It was working fine until the power failure. It keeps telling me, the user name or password for Gmail is incorrect. I have not changed anything. I don't know what is wrong. Can anyone help me? Thanks

    I agree, unplug and replug your router, then reset your iPad by holding down the sleep and home buttons, ignore the red power down slider, and wait til you see the silver apple. let it reboot and then try your connection.
    Chances are rebooting the router will help. You may also need to talk to cox. They may need to reset something on their end.

    Not exactly sure what you mean by contaminated, but there is currently no known e-mail that could impact the Apple Mail application as you have described.
    Without knowing who your e-mail provider is and what type of account (IMAP or POP3) we can't advise you as to what those settings might be.
    One way to fix it would be to delete the account from Apple Mail Preferences->Accounts and add it back.

  • I have a new email address which is a pop3 through bigpond. cannot send emails, help?

    I have gone through every suggestion on here. I have an ipad2 and the old email through optus worked perfectly. I synced my email details through Itunes and the settings are correct. I also put in the outgoing smtp settings my address and password, as suggested many times on here. it is still sending an error saying that my email address was rejected by the server.
    I am pulling my hair out! help please.

    You can't transfer purchased items from one account to another. You can sign into iTunes with the ID you've been using, and sign into Settings>iCloud with the @mac.com account if it's been successfully migrated - there is no conflict between them.
    Or if you've already been using the iTunes ID to sign into iCloud you can also sign in with the @mac.com in Settings>Mail, Contacts & Calendars. You can sync email, contacts and calendars with that as well as the other ID, though you can't use PhotoStream with it.

    Problem solved.
    Go into Mail/Acounts and delete you iCloud account.
    Now add a new account and type in your details for MobileMe/iCloud.
    It should now work. O noticed the default server name is different.

    Make sure MMS is enabled.
    Contact your carrier to make sure MMS is provisioned on your account.

    Make sure that your username and password are set in the outgoing mail servers setting.
    Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

    By signing up for an apple ID it means she will be able to download her own apps and music and in future redownload if required for free. Ideally it should be the primary email address she uses as you can't transfer purchases etc to another ID.
    Photos shouldn't disappear but back them up before hand. These days everyone gets an iCloud.com address so she could use this as her ID. You would need to go to www.apple.com/iCloud from a computer to sign up for this. Bearing in mind you need a mac with lion or mountain lion or a pc with windows vista onward to take advantage of all services like calendar sync and find my iPhone etc.
    Otherwise sign up for an apple id with any other email address. You can do this at https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
    AND Click on create an apple ID.
    the applications linked to your existing apple ID will have to be redownloaded on the other ID but you won't lose them on yours.

    Usually 'authentication required' means that you need to submit a username (or e-mail address) and password to the e-mail server, when sending a message. This logic is not different between Outlook and Thunderbird, and even with the latest and previous version of Thunderbird.
    Of course you can try the previous version again to see if it solves the problem, although you'll be less secure because you would be missing the latest fixes.
    If you'd be willing to get back to Thunderbird, say if your frustration level with your new app would increase too much, please see our article [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cannot-send-messages cannot send messages] for further help.
    In all other cases I'd appreciate it if you could mark this as answer so we know you don't need further help.

    Just FYI, I've had the same problem for months now. I have been accessing my hotmail via the web, but decided to try the OS X Mail app.  I could get emails into the account with no problem but couldn't send.  I read all the blog and support entries and have tried everything they recommended, like changing my computer name to one word, without success.  Then last night, it just so happened that my broadband provider had to change out my wireless modem.  As soon as he plugged in the new one, some emails that had been in my outbasket for a month went through instantly and all of a sudden my Mail, both incoming and outgoing now work.  So I think people need to look at their router settings for the a solution to the problem.

    I had this issue and this was what worked for me, I was using the "hotmail" option though.
    1. go to settings
    2. go to mail, contacts, calendars
    3.delete your email from device
    4. click "add account"
    5. there should be different account options, chose "other"
    6. chose "add mail account" and do so
    You  should be able to send now, but you might want to check how it updates.  Certain email options used "push"  which lets you know you have a new  email the moment you get it, much like a text message. "Other" only  allows you to have "fetch" which updates every selected amount of  mintues, and "Manual" which does exactly what it says.
    7. It should return you to the mail, contacts, calendars page. Press "Fetch New Data"
    8.  there will be a list of when it will update your email. The less it  updates, the easier it is on battery life. There is a manually option.
    9. If you want to use the actually "Manual" Update schedule then press "Advance" then your account.
    10. There you can chose "Fetch" (which I suggest if you use email a lot and there is a manual option there anyways) or "Manual"
