My Thunderbolt Display looses its picture when connected to a new 27" iMac?

Does anyone else have this problem?  It works fine when connected to my air...

Is your 2.6 the CTO upgrade from the high end 2.3 15"?
Yes, both will work under OSX and Windows. One note, when you boot Windows, you need to unplug the USB from the LED Cinema display or Windows will not boot. Once booted, then plug the USB back in to regain brightness, etc controls.

  • Hi, I just got an Apple Thunderbolt Display. How can I connect it to my sony vaio pc? Thanks

Hi, I just got an Apple Thunderbolt Display. How can I connect it to my sony vaio pc? At Apple Store they gave me a Mini Display Port to VGA Adapter, but monitor doesnt display any image. Thanks for your help!

no, your computer needs to have thunderbolt technology. does it?
if not, no adapter can make a thunderbolt display work on a non-thunderbolt computer.
someone was likely confused since miniDP will FIT into a TB socket but is only compatible one way, ie a mDP display can work on a TB machine, but a TB display cannot work on a mDP machine

  • How control can be customized so that it changes its picture when mouse moves over it

How control can be customized so that it changes its picture when mouse moves over it. As it happens in other develpment enviroments that one can customized the look 'n feel of any thing during the mouse movement over that very thing. Moreover can any body plz tell me that how one can modify the funtionality of a control by him self (not selecting the available functionalities of controls and indicators)

The attached LV 7.1 code uses an event configured to trigger on two controls when a "Mouse Enter" or a Mouse Leave" event occurs. Depending on the type key focus is either assigned or removed.
Please elaborate on the Q re: customizing a control.

PS Do NOT change the boolean to an indicator, save, run, change to control, save run again. That is bad.

  • My thunderbolt display makes a noise when plugged into my macbook pro laptop

my thunderbolt display makes a noise when plugged into my macbook pro laptop. It sounds like an electronic noise which doesn't come through the speakers. Any advice how to eliminate this?

Could be a poor ground.  Try plugging the monitor directly into the wall (no power strip) and see what happens.

  • Why isn't my iPad2 charging its battery when connected with my iMac?

Why isn't my iPad2 charging its battery when connected with my iMac?

A lot of computers, especially older ones (I don't know how old yours is), don't provide enough power through their USB ports in order to charge the iPad - it may still be charging, but at a low rate (it may charge quicker if the iPad's screen is off). If you want to charge it at a reasonable rate then the wall charger is better.

  • Has the thunderbolt display had its magsafe connector upgraded

Has the thunderbolt display had its magsafe connector upgraded and if so is there a backward compatible adapter for the older magsafe connectors?

The web page for the Thunderbolt Display says it still comes with the MagSafe to MagSafe 2 Converter, so I would say the attached connector is still the original MagSafe.

  • MacMini (2011) problem with Thunderbolt display if 2nd monitor is connected via HDMI/DVI adapter

    Hi,
    iam running a MacMini (2011) 2.3GHz i5 with Mac OS X 10.7.4 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 256 GB Samsung SSD.
If i connect a Thunderbolt display only - all is fine.
But if i connect a 2nd monitor ( Samsung S23A700) via HDMI / DVI adapter (original Apple) the major screen (Thunderbolt Display) sometimes
is going black and immidiately back to normal. It looks like that it happens very often if i scroll down with the Apple Magic Mouse.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance
    Thomas

I have exactly the same problem. MacMini Server i7 (mid 2011) Macmini5.3.16Gb ram.
    Mini and Thunderbolt no blink-outs.
Mini and Thunderbolt and Dell 23" connected to HDMI-DVI connector, the Thunderbolt display blinks out when system is under stress as in the Develop module of Lightroom 4.
I thought it was a problem with my Thunderbolt display, and since its on a VESA mount, I didn't really want to haul in in to the Apple Store.  I decided to be sure it was the dosplay...
I borrowed a MacbookPro i7 and ran it from a clone of my Mini. No problems aster hours of use. (But with only ONE monitor.)  That suggested that there was no problem with the Thunderbolt Display.
I decided to run the Mini with only one display.  Again no problems. I plugged in the Second monitor to the HDMI port and within 2 minutes I had my first "Blink-Out".
I ran the rest of the day without the second monitor with no problems.
I conclude the mini will not work reliably with two monitors if one is a Thunderbolt.
I was using two Dell Monitors before I got the Thunderbolt Diskplay (for 3 months) without incident.

  • Thunderbolt display changes colour temperature when in full screen mode

27" Thunderbolt Display connected to MacBook Air (2011) changes colour temperature when in full screen mode. Switching any setting in System Preferences/Displays changes it back to the correct colour. I have also seen this on a 24" LED Display (Display Port) connected to a Mac Book Pro (2011).

I describe my problem here. I think it's similar, can you see if the console gives you the same error?

If running 10.7 or later hold down Command-R at Startup.
    This should invoke recovery Mode.
    Choose Disk Utility.
Select your Hard drive. Inspect the SMART Status in the lower right of the window for "Verified".
Select the Mac OS X Volume (originally Macintosh HD) click (Repair Disk)
If errors, run again until it comes clean or gets stuck.
    Report any error messages.

  • Thunderbolt display disconnects from network when asleep

I have a MBP 15" (Retina) connected to a Thunderbolt Display. I'm using the Ethernet connection on the display and "docking" the MBP with the Thunderbolt connection. Every time my MacBook Pro goes to sleep, I lose all my network drives. I don't get an error on the Mac/Finder side, but all my Windows Explorer (through Parallels) windows produce an error about losing the network location. The open windows in the Finder simply go back to the Home folder -with no errors- and my shortcuts back to the network locations work as they should. The same thing happens on the Windows side, albeit with an expected error message; all mapped drives have a red X, but clicking on shortcuts restore the connections.
I'm running the latest version of OSX, the latest version of Parallels and Windows7.

No, the computer must be on.

  • As there is no sound only picture when connecting my ipad, do I need to also use the audio cable from Apple TV to an older Philips TV?

I have just bought a black Apple TV and it works fine when connecting my iPad to a modern TV.  However on an older Philips TV, there is no sound coming through.  Do I need to use an audio cable from the optical digital audio port in addition to the HDMI cable?  The TV's HDMI does not appear to support sound.

Thanks.  However no luck with this TV so far.  I've purchased a converter to give a digital audio signal from the optical digital audio output port.  The TV has an input audio digital port, but I've had no success in getting sound so far.
Is there any setting in the Apple TV menu that may affect the signal.  I've tried the setting for 16 bit signal, without any success.
Perhaps this Philips TV may just not be compatible with the new black Apple TV.  I have talked at some length with Philips support desk, but they've offered nothing new.

  • How to get Thunderbolt Display recognized in Windows 8.1 through boot camp 2013 iMac

Ok so I have got the run-around quite a few times trying to figure this enigma out.  I recently upgraded to the Haswell 2013 iMac from my 2011 iMac.  I had been using my thunderbolt display with my "old" iMac and I was running Windows 8.1 through bootcamp.  My display worked wonderfully and I had no issues.  I just upgraded from windows 8 to windows 8.1, I had no idea that boot camp "does not support windows 8.1."
When I got my new machine I migrated my entire operating system from the old computer to the new (which was way way way harder than I had anticipated).  Now it seems that almost everything works besides the thunderbolt monitor, which is not even detected.  The monitor works when running OS X, but not when running Windows 8.1.
I just wondered if anyone had already had and fixed this issue, or if it is just a waiting game unitl the new boot camp support drivers for windows 8.1 come out.
Also if anyone could explain why it worked on my old machine and not my new one I would appreciate it, I have some ideas as to why but I would appreciate any input.
    Thank you!
    -Arthur

    FIXED!
Well I just went to the NVIDIA website, downloaded the latest driver for the graphics card, installed it, and now Both monitors work.
Seems like a no brainer, but just in case this issue is a problem for other users I hope that this was helpful.
P.S.  Windows 8.1 may not be supported by boot camp yet, but the boot camp driver package for windows 8 along with the graphics card driver I downloaded made my computer work better than I expected!

Whenever I connect to the network at work I can't send mail. I can receive mail though. I can't use my airport at work. Could this be the problem?

Unless your employer has a wireless router and wireless network, you can't use Airport when at work.
Assuming you have a business email account provided by your employer, you can't send mail with your business email account either when connected to your employer's network and internet access at work?
