My thunderbolt is getting black spots on the display
So today I saw these start happening, seems not good. The first time it happened it grew much larger and much darker. Display is in the sun and that part of it seemed to be very hot. It goes away when I close the shades or shade the spot for a couple minutes with my hand, so I guess I have a solution... but has this happened to anyone else?? Sign or problems to come?
I have never seen this with my Thunderbolt display. You should consider taking your display in to a local Apple Store to have it repaired or replace (your display comes with a 1 year hardware warranty, and is covered by an AppleCare protection plan on a Mac if you purchased the Mac and Thunderbolt Display together).

MacBook Pros and the case getting black spots?
My old PB17 had all sorts of problems with the area around the keypad starting to get "black spots" after a few months of use.
I got the case replaced once because I complained about it, and then put a pad-thingie around the trackpad, where I rest my palms. So it is pristeen right now and for when I sell or give away the old one.
Now that my new MacBook Pro has I arrived I was wondering: these cases looks the same as the old PB - so do they have the same "black holes in the aluminum" problem?
dougYup, MacBook Pro's are affected by this. Mine is having quite the significant problem with these little speckles.

A block dot on the viewfinder is a piece of dust either on the mirror or or the focus screen.
You can try using a bulb blower to remove it (Don't use caned air).
Do NOT try to wipe it off as you will likely scratch something and make it worse.
It will not show up in your photos, so it's really doesn't affect the function of the camera. -
Hi, i've got almost one moth ago the iphone 5s, and has a black spot on the right side. i dont know what could be, so if someone has the same problem, could help me!?
If this is damage from misuse it is not covered. Otherwise it is covered. It does not matter the Apple Store vs other store for purchase location, the 1 year Warranty is identical. Next time you go to Apple Store ask to see the store manager.

My ipod nano 6th generation has a black spot on the screen
My Ipod nano 6th generation has a black spot on the screen where it appears that it was pressed by a thumb. Do I need to replace the screen or will it eventually correct itself after pressure is removed?

Two random black spots appeared on my camera display, the phone didn't get wet or anything, seems like dirt from the inside... should I take it to apple's customers service? anybody with the same problem?
thank youI have the same issue - perhaps not exact but extremely similar. In photo mode, there is a small purplish speck, which I initially thought as dust or something, and of course it ends of in photos taken. However, this speck is not present in video mode, meaning there is no dust, but some sort of artifact on the photo processor or something. Either way, itsa product defect - I plan on seeing if Apple will support this and replace thephone.....

Rendering from QT-DNxHD to other codecs causes black spots in the highlights. Causes?
Using a windows 7 pro machine, i7, 24gb ram, Nvdia GTX 570.
No other codecs that I have used have ever caused this issue. I am rendering from DVCPRO through an AE - 16 bit - rec 709 timeline to 10 bit QT-DNxHD (No problems at this point). I then edit in PP. No signs of problems at this point. From there I export via AME to AVI, H264 and Mp2 DVD. This is where it gets bad. All clipped highlights, coming from PP through AME, have black spots in them.
I have never worked with DNxHD before. I have heard good things and wanted to try it as a mastering codec. I'm sure this is not suppose to happen... am I doing something wrong?Hey Jim, AVI is no spring chicken either....
Audio Video Interleaved (also Audio Video Interleave), known by its initials AVI, is a multimedia container format introduced by Microsoft in November 1992 as part of its Video for Windows technology.
As much as I dont care for its slow export time from PrP, QT is till a widely adopted stamdard by both consumers and professionals alike. I may have my preferences now for other workflows, but when dealing with clients and others its still the dominant and preferred wrapper of choice. -
Why am I getting black bars on the sides of my widescreen assets?
I am importing video, shot and edited 1920x1080p23.976, into Encore. The goal is to burn a DVD from this asset. I've tried exporting the project (from Premiere CS5.5) in every format on the list, and no matter what when I import it into Encore it show up in the monitor with narrow black bars on the sides. The assets are correctly being formatted for 16:9 (non-square pixels), but the video is just not filling the screen. This seems like it should be a simple thing, why can't I get this?
Thanks,
SteveI'm going crazy trying to get the footage to actually crop. I have sequences imported from my Premiere project vis Dynamic Link. If I go into my quality presets inside Encore CS5 I can setup a top and bottom crop as in Ann's screenshot and then switch to output. It looks perfect. But when I save that as a new preset and apply it to my clips, the cropping does not apply.
I have tried over and over, new presets, double checking over and over and while the preset is applied, the crop does not kick in within Encore monitor or within the DVD preview. pillarboxing (black bars) are still present.
I don't understand why Encore has a cropping feature and then COMPLETELY IGNORES the cropping feature. Am I missing something.
So far all I can figure is to setup a new sequence in Premiere for every Chapter that is set to DV 24p. Then drop in the main sequence which is 1080p and resize it in the motion settings to 45.6% so that it fills a DV frame. At that point I can import that sequence to Encore and it looks fine.
Is this the best Encore can do? I would really rather link up the full 1080 sequences because otherwise I'll have to rebuild the entire thing if I want to make a BluRay.
Does anyone have any other suggestions or know how to get cropping to work on Encore CS5 (Mac). -

I'm using ID 5.5 on a Vista system.
I've created a book file with some colored fonts and anchored gif images. Basic paragraph (body text) is black. The "Export to Kindle" mobi file displays fine on Kindle for PC and Kindle Previewer.
Kindle PC alows viewing on white, sepia or black background. Works fine on white and sepia, but when the black color mode is selected (night viewing option) the black text does not display as white text. What can I do to have the black text automatically change to white?
While trying to find a solution, I created an epub file of the book and, using Calibre, converted it to mobi. When this mobi file is loaded into Kindle PC, the black text does automatically change to white when viewed on the black screen. I would use this method of creating the mobi, but there are several other issues that make this process unsatisfactory (other text colors don't work well, image transparency losses, etc).
So, how can I get the black to white text thing using only Export to Kindle?
JimGrayscale is probably the best (Settings>General>Accessibility>Grayscale)
