Try rebooting your whole network
modem > Time Capsule > and then clients withing a couple of minutes in between and see if that fixes it. -

Thank you for responding. I just went to the link. I previously checked on system preferences but everything there appears as it should. I also went through the other steps such as trying a headset. There is also no sound with this. I don't remember doing anything different on my computer between yesterday and today that may have to do with software or how preferences are selected. So I fear something is physically broken. Do you have any other suggestions for troubleshooting?

Pull the power cord from the back of the Time Capsule
Count to ten
Plug the power cord back into the back of the Time Capsule
Wait a few minutes and try a backup -

It is standard Mountain Lion error due to the networking ability which is comparable to wet string. (actually that was lion.. it dried out some with Mountain Lion.. higher in the hills perhaps!!)

I am trying to back up my Macbook Pro to a time capsule attached to my iMac. When I first installed the Time Capsule, all backups went well.Reboot the TC.. it has got lost.. or reboot the whole network.. restart in correct order. .modem router.. TC.. clients.
It suddenly will reappear.. you might need to reboot it again in a few days. .such is apple software today.
