My Torch 9800 won't reboot
I have tried several times to reboot my Torch and it won't reboot. I have removed the battery but the reboot only goes a short way then stops. What else can I do?

After an application installation my BB Torch 9800 restart and won't turn on! The loading bar stop at 80% of start loading.
Safe Mode starting don't work, So I plugged it with the BB Desktop Software (7.1.0.41), For the repair mode. The software ask to update the device software, after a few minutes of downloading, the software ask for windows restart (Win 8.1).
After Windows restarting the software don't recognize my phone and the BB Device Manager at the system tray bug.
I restart with another computer (win 7) ... same problem!!
Please helpHi Rallal

You dont even have to bring your phone to the technician. You can fix it by yourself. Keep trying and follow the procedure step by step carefully.

Torch 9800 neverending rebooting
While I was downloading "Slide It! Lock Slider for Blackberry" from Appworld, my BlackBerry Torch 9800 unexpectedly turned off. Then, the little red light turned on for a few seconds; right after the white bar started to go, but before it completed the reboot, the device turned off again. Now it is always the same (red light, white bar not completed, device turned off): the device is in a neverending rebooting cycle and doesn't turn on anymore. I tried everything, but nothing: my Blackberry Torch 9800 doesn't work anymore, is dead and is not detected by DSM. Do you know what can I do? Thank you in advance for your help.
Hi there,
First be sure that the battery you're using is charged enough then please try those as a final resort :
( Credit JSanders )
1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed. BlackBerry desktop software
2) On your PC, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line exactly (meaning with the quotation marks):
"c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm
3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
4) In the "Connection:" drop-down menu, you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.
5) You should then see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Hit Next and Finish and you are well on your way to getting your Blackberry back to life. Congrats! Just don't disconnect anything and let the lengthy process finish completely.
NOTE: If you do not see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator," then you must download Blackberry's Operating System for your carrier and device. BlackBerry Software Download Site
Just select the appropriate carrier and network type, select your Blackberry model from the list and download the latest version. Install this download and follow the above steps again and you should be on the right path.
Please note #step 4 is the most crucial , you have to have patience and try it again and again unless it show PIN UNKNOWN , as soon as it shows Click next to proceed.

I recently downloaded the new BBM app, and the icon disappeared from my phone. I tried rebooting several times, and it finally appeared, but it wasn't called BBM, rather net_rim_ something. When I clicked on it, it said "missing resource files" and wouldn't load.
I also noticed that my BBM connected apps (Facebook, etc) were not loading properly.
So - I backed up my BBM contacts, and deleted and re-installed, but there was no icon again.
I checked this forum, and found a similar problem, and the solution was to check if the software needed updating, which would fix the problem.
I checked on my Torch, and it said there was an update available, so I downloaded it. It downloaded fine, and then asked if I wanted to install it, and gave a warning message that it might take 2 hours or more. This was fine with me, as I was going to bed soon, and wouldn't be using it.
Before I went to bed, I noticed that it was rebooting. I figured I would just leave it and go to bed.
When I got up this morning, I noticed it was still rebooting. The white bar would go all the way across, then it would go to a white screen, go black again, and then start over.
I checked the forums again, and found a similar issue, which said to pull the battery and replace it. Did so, and it didn't work. I have tried several times, and even left the battery out for 2 hours, in the vain hope this might work.
I tried connecting to BlackBerry Desktop to do a restore, but it can't connect to the phone, because it is stuck in reboot.
Any suggestions?

Torch 9800 keeps on rebooting, won't come on
hi
My BB torch switched off like it has been for a while now and started rebooting...only this time its not coming back on, just reboots the screen comes on and then it goes off and starts rebooting all over again. Its been doing this for almost 4 hours now. HELP!!!Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
Remove the battery
Wait 15 minutes
Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.
Failing all of that, I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.
If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.

Torch 9800 LOOP restarting (reboot)
My torch begin rebooting by itself 2 days ago. I tried everything, soft reset, hard reset, wipe the phone, reinstall OS and only when I disable the Network Connection or remove the SIM Card the error disappear. But if I put the SIM card again and try to enable the Network radio, it reboots again. I also change the SIM Card and the error continues.
I used BBSAK to view the log and found this:

Can someone help me with this?Based on what you say (all SIMs from one carrier have the problem, but no SIMs from another carrier have any issues), I would deduce as you do...the SIMs from the carrier you are obtaining them are simply not compatible with your BB. There is no universal compatibility to be expected.

Torch 9800 won't turn on at all.
I was using Facebook app on my phone when I noticed it froze on the screen which I assumed was the phone lagging since I had a couple other apps open but then I also noticed my LED light come on in a still abnormal red, a dark red and then immediately my phone shut off completely. I did a battery pull thinking I just needed to reboot it but that didn't even work since even after multiple battery pulls the reboot screen won't even show up, no loading bar, no LED either. Just nothing at all. Tried leaving it alone for a few hours, put the battery back in and still nothing. Left the battery in while charging in and still nothing. The battery was more than halfway full before this happened & no history of battery drained issues, this battery was sent to me brand new a couple months back so I highly doubt it's the battery itself but if someone has any input it'd be much appreciated.
Hey Sonny_D,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Thanks for the question.
I suggest trying a new battery in the BlackBerry® and if the device still does not respond, I would suggest contacting your network service provider for repair and exchange options.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
Cheers.

For about the last week I've been getting a message on my BB to say the built in media needs repairing. Phone is unable to do this but I thought I'd sorted this via my laptop .
Now this morning the phone has totally frozen! It will only reboot 3/4 of the way through the bar before deciding to go no further.
Im totally stuck now and need some help please.
Solved!
Go to Solution. Are you able to restart your device in safe mode as shown in KB17877?
I assume, since it's caught in a reboot cycle, when you connect to the Desktop Software it doesn't take a stable connection to reinstall your software?
If that is case, remove your battery and keep it out when you connect to the Desktop Software. You will get a pop up that the device can't connect and there should be Retry, Update and Cancel buttons. Select Update and you will then be able to reinstall the current device software version.
When the load is progressing, you will see a step that says "Wait for device initialization". At this point, insert the battery and the reload should complete.

My Blackberry torch 9800 won't boot completely
i have tried several times and have ejecting the battery several times but still not booting completely. it boots to about 99percent and then restarts again and again...
Try booting in safe mode.
Remove the battery.
While holding down the back key, reinsert the battery and continue to hold the back key for another 20 seconds.
if the device reboots then remove the last application or theme you installed.

BB Torch 9800 - won't sync calendar
Device info
Your carrier: Rogers
Model info and OS version (Go to Settings, then Options, then about): BB 9800; 6.0 Bundle 2921
Apps and free space
File free before and after a battery remove/replace. (Go to Settings, then Options, then status): 193.5 mb
Did a battery pull fix your issue? No
When writing your question
When I try to sync my BB with the desktop software, it pops up with an error while trying to sync the Calendar. All other applications sync, just not the calendar ... Super frustrating. I tried to search and fix on my own, but the suggestions for fixing it that I have found so far do not work.
What is worth a thousand words
Unfortunately, I was unable to insert the screen capture ... Not sure what I am doing wrong?? But the error message that comes up on the BB Desktop Manager is ... "Synchronization Error" "A program error occurred at line 131 in .\Error.cpp. Please report this error by sending a log t technical support" Unfortunately I can not find where to send a log?!? This is the only place I could find ... Please help!Hello!
Unfortunately, since you did not list what you've actually already tried, we of course risk redundancy now...nevertheless, here is a KB that discusses that error:
KB32032 Recurring appointments of a specific pattern cause the sync to fail with an error message in BlackBerry Desktop Software
Hopefully it contains something useful! There also are multiple existing threads on this site that discuss that exact error...your review of those might prove useful, and a search of this site, using the error message, error code, or symptom, should reveal all applicable existing threads to you.
Otherwise, please do detail out exactly all that you've already attempted and exactly what happened with each attempt (with details please).

Via formal support, which you obtain by contacting first your mobile service provider, who can escalate your case up to BlackBerry via formal channels.

Desktop Software won't run - so I can't transfer from my current Bold to my new Torch 9800
I currently have desktop software operating on Microsoft XP SP2 with a Blackberry Bold. The desktop software was loaded approx 18 months ago.
I have upgraded to a Torch 9800 and wish to transfer my existing info from my Bold onto it via the desktop software. I have attempted to download the latest desktop software but ultimately it ends in a message stating that the application requires XP SP3 to run.
Are there any solutions other than upgrading my OS? An earlier version of desktop software that will work with both XP SP2 and a Torch 9800 perhaps?
CheersCorrect, the current Desktop Software does require WindowsXP, service pack 3.

Camera - Torch 9800 - Unable to capture the image
Hey everyone!
Had a torch 9800 for 18 months now and always been working fine... until today.
I went to use the camera and it all seemed to open up fine but instead of seeing what the lens sees the screen was black. The centre focus [ ] was there and I could zoom back and forth just a black screen.
When I click for a photo I get a message " Unable to capture the image "
I have searched the web and found nothing conclusive. Battery pulls, a full wipe and installation of the o/s have made no difference to it's lack of function.
Does anyone out there have a suggestion?I am having the exact same issue. I also tried rebooting, taking out the battery and sim card and cleaning out the back, alas no difference.

No longer able to locate the Twitter icon anywhere on my Torch 9800
I have Twitter version 4.0.0.15 installed on my Torch 9800 and have been using Twitter frequently for the past six months or so. For some reason I can no longer find the Twitter icon anywhere. Not in "All", "Favourites", "Frequent" or Downloads. I have tried uninstalling, re-installing, pulling the battery for a reboot (both with the Blackberry turned ON as well as with it OFF), all to no avail. This just started the other day. At about the same time, or shortly before this problem started, I upgraded the News/sports app "Canoe". Thinking that it might have been this upgrade that is causing the problem, I currently have Canoe uninstalled and went through the same procedures but have been unable to correct it.
Has anyone had a similar problem? If so, how did you correct it? I miss using Twitter.
Thanks much!
Solved!
Go to Solution.1. On your homescreen, press the Menu key > SHOW ALL, so that SHOW ALL is checked.
2. Look in EACH folder on your device... Applications, Instant Messengers, Downloads, etc.
If you still don't see it, look at Options > Device > Applications. Do you see it listed there?
