My trackpad to my laptop is freaking out. Freezing, Jumping pages. I won't touch it & it still freaks. We bought a wireless trackpad & it still flips. I don't know what's wrong. Please help.
Open the MBP and examine if the battery has swollen. If not, make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar.

The problem came up after switching via Thunderbold to a second screen or after "waking" the macbook up. The last time osx didn't boot anymore. It freezes after the "Apple Logo" came up. (grey screen).
After booting the system with "cmd+V" OSX started again. Now I'm afraid to shut down the system and the macbook runs all day.
I hope someone can help me, here my perticulars:

My configuration is as follows:

I use firefox for so many, many years thta I deserve this kind of support .. thnx Robert -
When i disconnect my iPod 2nd Gen from my laptop, its display goes off and working freezes. Please help me.
The computer freezes? There may be something wrong with the USB port. If the laptop has more than one port, does this happen on any port? If you are disconnecting the shuffle cable from the computer, does it make any difference if you disconnect the shuffle at the other end of the cable first, then disconnect the cable from computer? Or if you currently disconnect the shuffle from cable first, try it the other way.
You may be able to work around this problem, if you get a self-powered USB hub. Something like this one
http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/USB2HB7PRO/
There are many choices, but be sure to get one that has its own power supply. You can leave the shuffle cable connected to the hub, and connect the shuffle to the hub, instead of directly to the computer. This may provide a "buffer" for whatever is causing your laptop to shut off when the shuffle is disconnected. Since the hub has its own power supply, it will not rely on the computer for power to re-charge the battery. -
I own a MacBook Pro 2.4 ghz non unibody. I turn on my laptop for ten seconds and it freezes. It boots perfectly and runs for ten seconds until everything freezes. Please help!

My laptop keeps freezing when i start it up
I posted this on my phone, by the way, since I couldn't even open up Google Chrome without my laptop freezing.
For some apparent reason, my laptop keeps freezing right when I start it up. When I type in my password and my desktop screen comes up, I try to go to control panel to uninstall an adobe software I had downloaded but caused my laptop to lag (I downloaded it from the adobe website, itself). But right when the control panel windows comes up, and I try to move my mouse around a bit (I use an external mouse thing), my laptop freezes right there. I tried to go to McAfee to scan for viruses just in case but it froze when the windows came up as well. I tried doing the ctrl + shift + esc thing and I don't think anything's going wrong but when the window comes up and I move the mouse around a bit, my laptop freezes. Nothing's overheating and dusty or anything. And no matter how many times I tried to force shut my laptop down by holding the power button until it turns off, it still freezes every time. Someone please help me troubleshoot this.

Laptop's freezing: how to find out what the problem is?
Hi all,
First of, I realize that this is not the best forum to ask about hardware
issues, but that's not *exactly* what my question is, please read on!
So, my laptop started freezing at seemingly random times. I understand
that this could be a hardware issue, but I was wondering if there is any
way I can find out something. For instance, I tried to have htop running
constantly so when the laptop froze I checked if any stats where weird,
but there wasn't any problem that I could see.
Any other ideas on how I could possibly get an idea what's wrong? When it freezes:
Do the keyboard lights flash?
Can you SSH into the box?
Can you ping the box?
Does it unfreeze? Or does it require you shutdown and reboot?
If it unfreezes, was the disk access light on during the freeze?
Is there anything interesting in the logs or journals after your reboot?
Other things you can try:
Blacklist kernel modules of all non-essential hardware and see if that improves stability.
If it does, turn them back on, one at a time.
Is it temperature related? Check both ambient and core temperatures.
Is it susceptible to mechanical shock?
Have you run a memory test?
Does it only freeze when on batteries? -
Trackpad Firmware Update 1.0 Freezes / Hangs
I had a brand new MacBook out of the box a day ago. The only thing attached to it was the power cord. After a fresh setup for a new user a number of Apple software updates were found and I agreed to install them. Upon the first reboot the Trackpad Firmware Update application started up automatically. A gray box appeared with a warning not to interrupt or shut the power off to the Mac. I clicked "update" and the status bar started moving (no other applications had been opened). It got to about 95% done and hung. A one inch thick line of dark gray appeared to cover the top edge of the screen (it was translucent so I could still see through it).
I left the computer alone for 10 minutes because I was warned not to interrupt or shut the power off during the firmware update. With great reluctance I eventually pushed and held down the power button (there was no possible way to "Force Quit Applications" and the computer appeared completely hung).
After powering back up the machine the Trackpad Firmware Update application says the firmware is up-to-date and the trackpad appears to work. So it appears all is good. My questions are:
1) Is anyone else having this issue?
2) It is quite concerning to see a firmware update hang. Is it possible, or even advisable, to redo the update? The updater application won't allow it because the firmware is supposedly "up-to-date" but clearly there was an issue with it completing properly.
3) Can anyone explain what happened?
I have noticed people having other problems with the update but only a few talk about it freezing up or hanging up during the update itself.Seems like some others have had this issue as well but certainly not everyone. I found the following:
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=601850&page=2
http://twitter.com/sentience/status/1010513066
http://arstechnica.com/journals/apple.ars/2008/11/17/apple-issues-update-for-no- button-trackpads-but-be-cautious
There is an article on "recovering from an interrupted trackpad firmware update" here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3312 but it seems to say you should be able to try updating again. When I relaunch the updater it says the firmware is up to date even though it never appeared to complete before I had to force a shut down. Hopefully a newer version is released sometime that doesn't freeze the system when installing. -
Hi can anyone help me ? My lenovo G780 laptop keeps freezing its a Pentium CPU B2.10 GHz with 4.00 gb ram and 64 Bit operating system windows 7, it is only just over a week old so no other programs are installed only windows 7,
When I say freezing I mean the computer freezes and I have to turn it off by holding the on /off button as the keyboard wont work either.
GrahamSatellite Pro L300-EZ1523
It will freeze almost immediatlly when I turn on the laptop.
Does it occur before Windows begins to load?
If so, software on the hard drive is not responsible.

My laptop keeps freezing- help!
ok, my laptop keeps freezing. it's a toshiba satellite l305-s5907. It has been run through every type of virus, malware, registry cleaning scan available, and it still happens. it seems to happen after the computer goes to screen saver mode, when trying to exit screen saver mode it freezes. i'm sure i just have some sort of setting out of whack. i've tried changing screen savers to no avail. i've also tried to reinstall the power management program in windows vista (i have the 64 bit). it's like when i try to turn the computer back on, it's in a sleep mode that it won't come out of. i can feel the fan running and the hard drive spinning, but there is no light at all on the screen, and the only way to get it back on is to hold down the power button and shut it off, then turn it back on. please help!
Satellite L305-S5921
it boots everything loads up on desk top...and it freezes after few seconds
Maybe this is a lame reply too. Try these two experiments and let us know if it happens.
1. Boot into Safe Mode.
Start your computer in safe mode
2. Boot into another user account. If necessary, create one.
Create a user account
PS None of us helping out here work for Toshiba. I don't even have access to one.

Laggy wireless trackpad when using Vuze
I have my macbook pro hooked up with an external monitor, so that I have a dual screen set up. When in this set-up, I use a bluetooth keyboard and a magic trackpad (both Apple)
Today, my magic trackpad started to lag pretty bad, but the trackpad on the laptop worked perfectly. I realized that the magic trackpad started lagging after I started downloading a couple items using Vuze, and as soon as they finished, the magic trackpad was back to normal.
Any ideas on why this is occuring, and how I could fix it?
Thanks!this occurs because wifi and bluetooth are on the same chip (AND on the same frequency, if you understand what i'm talking about), so when wifi is used intensively (such as for torrents), bluetooth gets slower and lags a lot.
So no fix apart from using either cable mouse and keyboard or use ethernet instead of wifi. -
Help! it has taken me 1/2 hour to write this. The keys on the right hand side of my computer, will cause the cursor to ,
jump backwards, delete whole lines of text, and wreck havoc with anything I attempt to do. Jump pages, etc. Just moving the cursor via trackpad will open of close webpages, and send e-mails to those not intended. Maybe, something is gumming up the keyboard. Is there a way to remove cover and clean?
Or is it a heat up problem. I can't keep buying a new computer every five years. Have had Macs since 94'. But, wallet thinner, must go to PC if can't fix this one. I have 5 others upstairs that can't find anyone that can fix.Hello,
It could be stuck key. (or keys)
You can try cleaning the keys, here is how you can do that.
http://mij.oltrelinux.com/ibook/cleaning_keyboard/
Pop the caps off and clean around them.
If that doesn't work then you may require a new keyboard.
Here is how to remove and replace an iBook keyboard.
http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Replacing+iBook+G4+12-Inch+800+MHz-1.2+GHz+Keyboard/ 155/1
Should it require a new keyboard, they can be replaced very cheaply.
Remember to get the right one for your iBook (i.e 14" or 12" models differ)
