My trackpad points but clicking does not respond

Hi...my trackpad is malfunctioning. It points but the clicking does not respond. Please help!

Here are a few notes I have put together about batteries.   If something helps you, fine, let us know.   If not, post back with anything you can add about your problem.
Whether you use regular or rechargeable batteries you should buy the best. Discounted or unbranded batteries are more likely to give a depleted performance and may be of irregular size, often leading to connection problems. Apple’s own brand, Eneloop and Energiser appear to be the best.
Rechargeable batteries for a standard Magic mouse are unlikely to exceed eighteen days before requiring a recharge.    Apple may say more in their sales blurb but this is a realistic expectation.   The benefit (if you are organised) is that you will always have charged batteries available.     Regular batteries will give you between 25 and 35 days before they need to be replaced.
Never mix old and new batteries or rechargeable and regular.
Both the above are based on my personal experience, not shutting down my machine and using it for around four hours per day.   Note.   Monitors do not always faithfully report battery strength, particularly with rechargeable ones.
When checking your mouse or keyboard batteries ...
Turn off the device.
Remove the batteries,
Clean the terminals both inside the battery compartment and on the batteries themselves.
Replace or renew both batteries.
Turn on the device.   You should get a blinking green light if the device is paired.
Click the mouse to activate it. The green light becomes steady.

Trackpad is paired but cursor does not respond

OS 10.7.5 on 2009 Mac Pro. My new trackpad shows 43% battery but the cursor does not respond. Also keeps losing pairing. Could this be a battery issue? Someone told me that regular AA batteries sometimes cause these problems and that I shoid use lithium rechargeables (which does not make sense to me). I am suddenly unable to open mail from the dock. dock shows mail is up and running, but stamp does not respond when clicked, and will not quit. help?

I am suddenly unable to open mail from the dock. dock shows mail is up and running, but stamp icon does not respond when clicked, there is no mail window opened, and will not quit. when double clicked, get new mail is not an option and I get no response with other actions.
I am retrieving mail on my phone with no problem. this just began happening, no updates or problems with anything else.

There are reports of similar behavour but generally it is due to battery connections. Is the indicator light working steadily or does it blink or even not function. Here is the Apple document dealing with some of the problems.

Is your machine within the guarantee period or under Apple care. If so, return it to any apple retailer for examination and possible replacement.

ITouch will reset, but device does not respond to touch

I'm trying to reset my iPod Touch. I am able to turn it off by, pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together until the Apple logo appears. but I can not get past the Apple logo as the touch screen does not respond. When I connect the device to iTunes I get the message you must unluck your itouch and the screen on the iTouch goes from the Apple logo to the "Connect to iTunes" screen. At no point, when the Apple logo or the "Connect to iTunes" appear does the device respond to touch the screen. The iTouch is fully charged.

If it's showing the 'Connect to iTunes' logo but iTunes is asking you to enter the Passcode you will need to pop the device into a Forced Recovery state.
To do this, connect the device to the computer via USB, once connected make sure iTunes is open. Hold down the Home & Power Button together until the device resets (Apple Logo on screen), as soon as you see this remove your finger from the power Button but continue to hold the Home button. You should then see a prompt in iTunes stating 'iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode, you must restore to continue' at which point you will want to follow the prompts to restore the device.

Where do I go for help if my mac Mail will not respond from Applications? I can move it to the dock but it does not respond. Beach ball turns---

I get a dialog box to allow a cookie from Yahoo mail but it does not respond and locks up the entire browser. All other sites work fine.

The sign in page for yahoo mail wants to set cookies. I get a dialog box that asks to set a second cookie but it is unresponsive, eitehr to check allow or close it. Going to task manage says the site is waiting for input from me but I cannot get the browser to respond in any manner whatsoever.
All other tabs work fine and the yahoo site can be opened with IE fine.

Set up to "Ask me every time" in the Privacy elections. I think I found the problem. Looks like there were two dialog boxes, the second right on top of the first so I could not check the first one so it never got the OK and kept waiting for input.
Seems OK now.

Firefox 4 and 5 open quickly on my mac with snow lepard but then does not respond for at least 1 minute? after that it runs great. I have tried opening in safe mode and also turned of automatic updates. Same results.

Mail opens but then does not respond-please help

yesterday, i opened mail and it would appear to do nothing for about 15 seconds, then lock up with the beach ball. this is the first time i have had problems with mail ever. i tried restarting twice to no avail. would appreciate any ideas for resolve. thanks.

Verify/repair your disk (not just permissions), as described here:

Now, go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network > Show: Network Port Configurations, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet is at the top of the list.
Finally, try launching Mail under the following conditions (you may need to force quit it first if it's running):
1. Holding the Shift key down until the main window appears.
2. With no Internet connection.
Post back with your observations.

My JButton inside a JTable cell does not respond to clicks

I have a Jtable which extends AbstractTableModel and uses an arraylist to fill the data in the model. The first column of this table is my button column. I have a class for my button coumn which is:

Bloody Hell, I install Firefox 4 beta 11 and nothing happens home page loads, and thats it, firefox does not respond

I run 3.6.13 I tried to install beta 4. 11, it downloads and installs, it opens the home page, but that's it, the throb er works but Firefox does not respond, i mean like in nothing, it is dead, you click anywhere on the toolbar, and it is like a dead dog.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

UINavigationBar Back Button does not respond to UIViewController

Hi All,
I am using Three UIViewController in My Application, which has two Buttons at the bottom.
1.On load The FirstViewController loads data from an XML feed into an UITableView. When i Click on this cell, i call the SecondViewController inside didSelectRowAtIndexPath. For this i use the Pushviewcontroller and popviewController methods.
2.Then i click on Back button to go back to previous Controller (i.e. FirstViewController).
3. When i click on the second Button on the bottom it takes to ThirdViewController, After viewing the data of it i click on another bottom button which loads the FirstViewController.
4. Now i am repeating step:1 . This time the FirstViewController calls the secondViewController using pushviewController method. but it does not respond to step:2 i.e. the popviewcontroller method does not respond.
is there any other method for using back functionality of UINavigationBar. Please help me in solving out this issue. Thanks For your help in Advance.

Flash 8 does not respond

i've just upgraded from MX to 8 and now Flash 8 hangs every
time i want to open a new file.
- i open a .FLA and edit in Flash 8
- i export the .SWF and close the file
- i open a new .FLA, but Flash does not respond and 'thinks'
about it and spins the beachball
- i have to "Force Quit" from the Dock and start the process
again
it also takes a while to boot up when i open Flash from the
Dock (as does Dreamweaver). a good few minutes for both.
i'm running OS X 10.4.8 on a G4 dual 1.25 with QuickTime
7.1.3

This is a known issue with Flash Pro CC - GM build.
this crash has been fixed in the update that was released recently. Please update to 13.0.1.808 version and it should fix this.
Please reply if it still persists after the update.

Brand new iPhone 4 - does not respond

I just received my new iPhone 4, but it does not respond when I connect to my computer. The screen stays blank and it does not show up in iTunes. Only when I connect it to the wall charger does it respond, but I have tried leaving it to charge for some time, but it still wont show up in iTunes nor does it respond when connected to my Macbook Pro. Have tried with different cables and to do a reset, but no luck.
Does anyone have any suggestions I could try before I take it back tomorrow?

If you are plugging it into a MBP, it should work no matter what. I'm sure you tried this, but have you plugged it into the other available USB spot? Sometimes my phone doesn't like one USB port on my MacBook and I have to plug it in to the other.
