My trashed mail has disappeared.

Went to check my trashed mail and they disappeared. Why?

There is a setting that controls how long deleted emails remain in the Trash.
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Tap on your Email Account > Scroll way down to Advanced > Deleted Messages > Remove
Then select the option you want.

You can do it. This article from Macworld will be helpful to you:

    I recommend the "brute-force" method.
Just make sure you have your data backed up properly!

hmmm ok so Firefox Crashed and it hasn't worked properly with your email since
I wander if it is corruption in your existing profile ?
here is a link here on how to setup a second profile, you could do this to test if the old one is causing the trouble. it's for setting up profiles on Windows, I'm not sure what OS you are using.

  • All my mail has disappeared from my outlook account after a software update

I just downloaded iDisplay and updated my software and now all my emails and email account has disappeared from Outlook. I had been using it prior to undertaking these actions. Any ideas?

Your Outlook mail is stored in a folder inside your Documents folder - "Microsoft User Data." Make sure that this folder is intact.
The next time you start Outlook, hold down the option key to rebuild your identity. Your emails should remain intact.

  • Trash Folder has disappeared from Apple Mail.

I had to boot into Windows - saw lots of old messages in Inbox
of Outlook Express so I deleted them. Ooops - they were sitting
on the MobilMe server. Now I don't even have a Trash folder over
on Apple Mail in either Tiger or Snow Leopard (2 Macs). How can
    I restore?
    Thanks,
    Tom

Is this account POP or IMAP?
Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup),  it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
    Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist.backup

  • "Save attachments" button in Mail has disappeared

My "Save attachments" button in Mail (6.6/1510) disappeared the other day. It has always been there, sitting on the dividing line between message header and message content. But now it's gone. All of a sudden.
Sure, it becomes visible if I select detailed header info, but it should be there even with the simplified header view. At least it has been up to a few days ago.
Any tips on how I get it back? It's a bit annoying to select detalied header info each time I want to save attachments. Dragging and dropping is no option for me, since part of what I want is to se a list of all attachments. The "Save" button provides that feature.

First of all, in the Compose window, click on View and see if Show Toolbar is available as a Command? If so, click on it.

  • The bottom bar on my mail has disappeared which means I can't create, reply or forward to an email. Any ideas how to get it back? Touching the screen at the bottom doesn't work!

The bottom bar in my email seems to have disappeared which means I can't create, reply or forward any emails. Any auggestions to how to get it back? Touching the bottom of the screen doesn't work. Thanks.

Close all apps in the Multitasking Drawer; Double Tap Home Button to open drawer, Swipe up on each app to close it. Repeat until all apps are closed, touch home screen.
Restart phone, hold both Home and Power/Sleep buttons down at the same time, continue to hold them down until the Apple Logo appears, Release both buttons and wait for phone to restart.
Check email app to see if bottom bar and new email icon have come back.
If not, delete the email account in settings and then add it back in again.
If mail still not working as it should, you may try doing a Reset All Settings reset in Settings => General => Reset => Reset All Settings.  You won't lose any data, music, apps, videos, pictures, etc.  But you will have to go back in and turn on or off any settings you changed on your phone because everything will be set back to factory defaults.

  • ICloud mail has disappeared

I appear to have accidentally deleted my entire iCloud mailbox - although am unable to find any of the emails in my archive or trash. I was using Mail.app on OS X Lion and was sending an email containing a couple of attachments that didn't end up sending. When I next checked my inbox all my emails had gone. My iPad and iPhone are also displaying 0 emails and the same occurs when I log on to iCloud via the browser. Is there a way of getting the emails back?

Hi Elliot have you actually solved this problem? Accidentially the same thing happened here.
Every Mac or iOS device I turn on ... syncs and gone is the mail. Is there any hidden undelete feature in iCloud?
The only other way I could think of is to actually retrieve the inbox from mail.app from a time machine backup i.e. or another back up. But I do wonder, if it is possible to easily exchange the inbox folder and hope that it syncs with the IMAP server.

  • HT4863 sent mail has disappeared

I have not changed my settings and my icloud email is set to never delete sent messages but now it is only storing them for 24 hours - has anyone got a solution?

My wife had a similar problem on her iMac G5. She lost all of her mail. The fix that I used was to look in HD/Library/mail folder and compare that to the HD/USER/Library/mail folder.
Do a get info on both sent mail items and then do an import on the one that has the larger MB status.( Take note of which one is larger. )
Do this from the mail app. Mail/File/import mailboxes.
Choose:Mail for Mac OS10. Choose the mailbox that has the larger MB numbers from step 1 and import.
As always BACK-UP Both copies of both Library/Mail folders first. I copied hers to CD before any changes.
I recovered all of her mail successfully.

  • User's mail has disappeared

Looking for some sage advice here.
We were getting some error messages when administering user accounts via Server Admin on our mail server so I decided to change the mail server into a Open Directory master and migrate the accounts over to that.
Did an export of the user accounts, reset all the passwords and everything looked ok. When I went to log into my mail account after a restart, all the mail disappeared and I was unable to get it to reload.
I ran mailbfr -o but that didn't change anything
Wondering what I did wrong...Any help would be appreciated.
    thanks
    Macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)
    Macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Needless to say I didn't provide enough useful information in my post for anyone to be of any help. My bad all around.
The issue was resolved by restoring everything via mailbfr.

  • Everything in my Mac Mail has disappeared, all the accounts and therefore all of my mail, as if I had never set up any accounts. Please help, any ideas as to what has happened and how I might get them back ?

Opened Mac mail this morning and it is completely empty, all my mail accounts (and therefore mail) are gone. Please, does anybody have any suggestions? Have no idea what to do......... Yosemite 10.10.2. Thank you

  • My Mail has disappeared!

I was syncing my Address Book (Contacts) on the Power Mac G5 (at work). When I got home, to my horror, when I opened (Apple) Mail, all the files were gone! As I recall, the Mail Accounts and the Mail Rules, Signatures, & Mail Smart Mailboxes were checked, too. Did this wipe out my Mail folders on my MacBook Pro? I want to restore those files on the MBPro. They still exist on the Mac server because I can access them thru Safari, but I want to get to them with MAIL.
How do I get them back? Any advise would be most appreciated.

Hi Chuck. I’m not sure your problem is really the same because I don’t know what the OP’s problem really is, and the circumstances are clearly different. drawME’s problem appears to be related to having done some kind of “synchronization”. In cases such as this, it’s usually better to start a new topic to discuss your problem in its own thread. Discussing apparently similar but not quite the same problems in the same thread can be very confusing. That said, what I’d suggest in your case might also be useful for the OP, so I’ll post it here anyway.
What’s the capacity and space available on your startup disk? Take a look at the comments about disk space in the following article, in case they apply to you:
Problems from insufficient RAM and free hard disk space
Even if there is enough space available on the startup disk, for some reason that remains a mystery to me, Mail sometimes “thinks” it must discard the current ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist preferences file and create a new one. This file is where all the account settings (but not the messages themselves) are stored. As a result, all your non-.Mac account settings are lost. If you had a .Mac account, its settings would appear to have been preserved because Mail sets up that account automatically using the System Preferences > .Mac settings.
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what’s it all about?
After having fixed all filesystem issues, if any, and making sure that there’s enough space available on the startup disk (a few GB, plus the space needed to make a backup copy of the Mail folder), quit Mail if it’s running, and make a backup copy of the ~/Library/Mail folder, e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down, just in case something else goes wrong while trying to solve the problem. This is where all your mail is stored.
    You have three options now:
    (1) Restore com.apple.mail.plist from a backup if you have one. Mail shouldn’t be running while you do this.
    (2) Set up your non-.Mac accounts in Mail again. If given the option to import existing mailboxes or something like that, don’t. Just enter the account information and Mail will automagically rediscover the data in ~/Library/Mail/ when done. You’ll also have to re-configure most of your settings in Mail > Preferences. For spam-related security reasons, the first thing you should do is go to Preferences > Viewing and disable Display remote images in HTML messages if it’s enabled.
    (3) Mail may have renamed the old preferences file to com.apple.mail.plist.saved. If that’s the case, you may try moving the new com.apple.mail.plist out of ~/Library/Preferences/ (e.g. to the Desktop) and rename the old com.apple.mail.plist.saved back to com.apple.mail.plist. Again, be sure Mail isn’t running while doing this. Since Mail decided to discard it, I would expect this file to be corrupt (I don’t understand why would Mail discard it and create a new one otherwise), but apparently that often is not the case and the settings can indeed be restored by just renaming the file.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder.
